  1. That's good. At least, you have something to do when you are bored. I wonder how many times you have changed your avatar. This present one looks quite OK, not bad at all.
  2. And you will call it SkyXP? How interesting! Maybe Marxo, Xstyle, Zoinkity, or Dblake1 (and some more I can't remember) can do it. They all can make themes. But not sure if they have time or not.
  3. Hi Xstyle. Very nice screenshots! I remember Dblake1 said this sidebar worked on his XP. So I will try it too when you finish it. And... Changing your avatar again?
  4. Why was Celtish banned? Because of this thread? And who banned him? Why weren't there any words to explain the reason why a four-year member was banned?
  5. What do you mean by "used RP7", Slangdriver4? If you have installed RP7, then Shell32 version 5.50.4134.127 must have already been available in the System folder for you to use. If you haven't installed RP7, just getting the new Shell32 from the extraction and wanting to replace the old one with it, I don't think it will work. I mean after you replace it, maybe your computer can't boot at all. As for replacing a file that is running, try CopyLock (if you are an advanced user). http://www.snapfiles.com/get/copylock.html
  6. CharlotteTheHarlot, what a long name! And what long posts you wrote! It takes me long time to read and understand them all. However, I'm only interested in this paragraph: Very interesting! And I absolutely agree with you. I am not an advanced user, and surely won't be one. So, I decided not to use 98SE any more. But I don't think I will remove it from my computer. It will be helpful in case I have serious problems with XP and while waiting for it to be repaired. Such problems hardly happen however; I've just got one and have to reinstall Windows after 3 years of using XP! Then why don't you try using XP for some time, Celtish? If you don't like its modern look, you can use the classic style. As for DOS issue, CharlotteTheHarlot had a suggestion for you. And if after a few days, or weeks, or even months of using XP and you still can't stand it, you can happily return to your favourite 98SE. It's not late at all.
  7. TheRedFox, you can still update it manually by downloading the definition file from this link:http://www.lavasoft.com/support/securitycenter/blog/ Below Download Current Definition File, choose Ad-Aware SE. Unzip it, then put it into the folder where you installed Ad-Aware SE. Good luck!
  8. It has been changed. Thanks whoever fixed it!
  9. What about my problem? Not a word to tell me if it is because of my computer or what causing this? Or my new picture is not allowed to use as an avatar?
  10. Xstyle, it doesn't help. I've just logged out then logged in, and already cleaned the temporary internet folder (deleting all files inside). The picture is still the same. Why can you change yours so easily?
  11. Can someone tell me why my avatar doesn't change? I uploaded a new picture yesterday but it is still the same old one today. In My Controls, it is the new one, but on my posts, it is the old one. And the old one seems to be modified. The penguine looks fatter and uglier than it used to be! It's awful! How can I make my new picture display on the posts? I don't know the problem is from my computer or from the forum server. I am sure I post this in a wrong place but I don't know where to put it. Maybe some Mod will move it to a right place for me. But help me solve the problem first please. Thanks in advance.
  12. Fredledingue, many thanks. This script works great. I'll use it in case I want to restore the registry values instantly. Logging off takes only 2 seconds so it doesn't matter at all. Thanks again, friend.
  13. BigDaddy, then you may try this, (no need to do anything with the registry): - After modifying your theme on tab Appearance and feeling pleased with it, go back to tab Theme. - The theme you want to save must be My Current Theme (Modified) on the dropdown list. Press the button Save As... next to it. - Now give it a name. Then press Save. It will be a Windows theme file. When you double click on this saved theme, you can apply it through the Display Properties. I hope it works this time.
  14. Fredledingue, Your script file takes the same steps as when I run the reg file from the RP7 (I'll call it TReg from now on). I mean I will have to double click the file, then choose Yes, then OK, and finally Log off if I want it to take effect immediately. It works fine, and thanks for making it, Fredledingue. SlugFiller, OK, I am scared to death when reading your post! I thought you would give me some codes, commands and tell me to do some simple things like what people here told me. I didn't think this registry key requires me so much knowledge. Let's see: You need to get ..., You'll need to figure out ..., You need to learn how to ..., You'll need to write ..., and finally, you'll need at least some programming knowledge. I'll quit, SlugFiller. I won't bother finding any more solutions. Forget it. This VIP's name is mentioned a lot in the thread of Developer Team but he doesn't have time to give a reply, let alone doing something for me. I decide not to go ahead with this, thanks for your information and offer to help, SlugFiller.Tihiy, This is the difference after I run TReg and have it take effects:So I don't understand what you mean. This reg key takes effect on some themes like Luna Homestead, Luna Metallic, Windows XP. With themes having special caption buttons, like BlackMesa, EtherBlack, Longhorn, it doesn't change anything. I or we've already known this since post 2 by Th3_uN1Qu3. What we are talking about now is an alternative solution if possible. Why don't you prevent this disaster sooner, by giving your precious comments when I wrote the first post? As usual, thank you for replying, Tihiy!
  15. Because it looks nicer than the others you have. I decide to change my avatar, too. I don't have a site, changing it just for fun.Edit: Deleting some words. Sorry, it seemed that I was confused with the names on this topic.
  16. I'm terribly sorry, BigDaddy, if it doesn't work. I don't use classic themes so I am not sure if we can save a modified theme. I hope you don't lose your theme by doing what I said. I think we will have to wait for some other help. By the way, when I have to work a lot with the registry, I use Registry Workshop. I can easily export a single value, which I can't do when using the Registry Editor. And I can always undo any changes I've made. You can try it from this link: http://www.torchsoft.com/en/rw_information.html Sorry again for the wrong help, BigDaddy.
  17. Because no experts come and have an answer, I'll try to help you, BigDaddy. - After you finish modifying your theme, run Regedit. - Now go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Appearance\Schemes - On the right panel, choose the name of the classic theme you want save and then export it as a .reg file. I am not use to doing this because I only use modern themes. If there is something wrong with what I told you, maybe someone will correct it. Good luck!
  18. Jolli, I don't understand anything about the codes. But I think Acheron talked about a comma (,) as the last character. There is a comma at the end of his code.
  19. I don't know how to start, SluggFiller. I don't change the themes these days because I stopped modifying them. I even have "rem REGEDIT C:\yourfile.reg" in the Autoexec.bat. But, (I hate this "but" so much) when I read your two posts, this sentence sounds so interesting that I have to reply: Now, take a deep breath before reading on. 1. If you are really interested in this topic and willing to help, then tell me exactly and shortly what I should do. I am not an expert, so don't talk to me as though I knew everything. And I'll ask you for explanation if I don't understand something. This means, it may take you a lot of time to write boring posts and answer silly questions. 2. If you don't have time and cannot stand my attitude, then no need to go farther. This means, you can forget my thread totally. Just choose 1 or 2, SluggFiller. The results of both are already accepted with pleasure by me. I'm not kidding, it's true and serious. I'll take back the last sentence I said in post 20. This is what I want to say now: thank you for replying. Note: I don't consider my question a problem any more. So, take it easy.
  20. Xstyle, what happened to your nice icons? Why there are only old ones on the desktop? And, this is off topic, why do you change your avatar so often? Every time I log in, I see that you have a new one.
  21. SluggFiller, I am quite lazy. I need something that will do everything for me in this case. Now you tell me to find the registry key and change it manually every time I finish modifying the skins! Do I understand you right? I didn't think you would give me such a helpful idea! After you suggested switching themes less often, I thought this time you would advise me not to use the computer any more! My problem is not big and I am pleased with the alternative solution. Thank you for trying to help, SluggFiller. And NO thanks for any more reply!
  22. Actually, I don't change the skins very often, SlugFiller (Good, I can type your name easily). But when I don't feel like playing a game and have nothing to do, I'll modify some themes to suit my taste, and for fun. And while doing this, mostly changing the colors, I have to change themes and apply them several times in an hour! What for? To see how a theme changes and if I am pleased with it or not. The registry key keeps changing to the orginal one as I said in the first post, and I find it annoying. That is the reason why I made this thread. I won't choose your reply the best answer, but I like it anyway. PS. You know, SlugFiller, I don't change the desktop image every Friday! I change it every day!
  23. Jeetu Mishra, Your theme is simple but rather good. I like the Start button. And why the file extension is not .msstyles? I had to change it to make it work. I don't have Style XP but use the UXTheme Patcher. Thank you for making this.
  24. MDGx, thanks for the links. I'll read them later. Tell me how, SlugFiller. I guess you talked about the Skin Configuration Settings file in every theme folder. But I don't know what I should change. Please tell me three acceptable reasons why I shouldn't switch themes more often, and I'll choose your reply the best answer to my question, gentleman! Thanks in advance (whether you give a reply or not).
  25. Th3_uN1Qu3, thank you very much for your reply. - The line "REGEDIT /S C:\yourfile.reg" doesn't work, saying "Invalid Switch". - The line "REGEDIT C:\yourfile.reg" works great, exactly what I want. Because all the DOS commands I know are: copy, dir, del, and format! I feel uncomfortable when I have to do something from DOS. I find out I can do all the above things in a simple way just right from Windows, something like this:- Give the registry key from RP7 a short name, then put it into drive C. - Open Autoexec.bat in Notepad, add the line "REGEDIT C:\yourfile.reg", then Save and Exit. That's all. It will take effect when I reboot Windows. I don't find your name cool or hot. I asked you just because I can easily type everyone's name, but with yours, I have to copy and paste! The_Unique looks nicer, just my own opinion.OK, thanks again for all the help and replies on this thread. I learned something new about the Autoexec.bat. I've seen it on my computer for ages but today is the first time I've done something with it. How interesting!
