    Thanks BP. It seems that Maxthon is not a well-known browser. When I use it going to that checking page, it detects my browser as Google Chrome!

    Andre, I thought it worked but it didn't! I was using Maxthon last night and thought it worked just like IE, so I said the way I took short steps worked. I mainly use Maxthon and Firefox as internet browsers. Both have flash player 11.4 and I can see that flash on Adobe checking version page. Today I open IE, go to the checking page and I can't see the version of flash player! How strange! Version 11.4 was installed but IE doesn't use it at all. I've tried to uninstall and then reinstall it several times but it's useless! I am afraid you have to edit your post again, Andre! I'm very sorry. Edit: delete attachment

    Can't help laughing when reading the red text. I am not an advanced user so I do things in a simple way. What I do is follow step 5 and 6 and it works. When I go to Control Panel/Uninstall Programs to check, I see that Adobe flash player 11.4 has already been installed. Don't know why we have to uninstall the old version before installing the new one. Is there any difference or disadvantage if I drop the first steps? Thanks for posting this, Andre.

    I'm using beta 6 on RP now. Show desktop button looks small as usual. I didn't notice how it looked like with beta 5 or older version, but I believe it always looks small. BTW, Happy Birthday Tihiy! Wishing you good health and happiness in life!

    I notice that on RTM, the aero is still enabled on the taskbar. It is only disabled on the title bar. This makes RTM look brighter than RP even when I choose a dark theme. Reading your guide makes me wonder if we can do the opposite. Can we get files from RTM then put them into RP and make them work there?

    I don't know why it generated such a strange result. My computer boots slowly in reality, around 1 minute into RTM, and around 40 seconds into RP. Now that you say it's OK, I won't mind it any more. Okay, it's somewhat interesting to do these traces. Many thanks for all the help. And wish you a nice day, Andre.

    The command promp doesn't allow me to copy and paste. It's a long long long text to type and you ask me to do it again??? I don't intend to use RTM for long, so just a few needed applications were installed on it. There is almost nothing to do there and I hate it if I have to boot into it!     Andre, There's something I want to make clear first. When I turn on my computer, I see the booting screen and then the boot menu. If I choose RP, the default OS, it boots into the Start Screen quite fast. If I choose RTM, the monitor will turn off then turn on again, and the booting screen will display one more time before I can see the Start Screen. That's why I think it resets before booting. I disabled Hibernation right after I finished installing W8 RTM. Shut down time is normally quick. So, only boot time is what I care for. I guess if I remove RTM, the problem will be solved. Now, your tutorial is a little complicated to me. Not sure if I can follow it to the end or not, but I'll try. I'm just afraid I can't post the trace file very soon.

    Since I installed RTM, it takes longer time to boot into Windows. From the boot menu if I choose RP it logs in normally. But if I choose RTM it seems that the computer resets once before it boots into the Start Screen. Perhaps I will remove RTM soon.

    Ace1, I've just checked. It's a .cfg file but the content is different! It says: [Channel] Retail I misunderstood post 1 and replaced _Default with Retail in the command! What a silly mistake! I just fixed it but it doesn't make any sense now because I've already installed W8 RTM with the pro key on post 3. I am using W8 RP now. Sorry for saying it doesn't work!

    It's awful that W8 RTM, with an uglier look, has the same problems as W8 RP!

    I don't know why W8 RTM does look brighter than W8 RP. As usual, I choose to use the automatic theme, choose the same picture to set as wallpaper, and it picks the color quite differrently. It never displays a dark theme no matter how dark the wallpaper is! I haven't tried Explorer7 on this version yet.

    It doesn't work. When I installed Windows it still asked for a product key. Is it because I ran the setup directly on the hard disk? I had to type in the key on post 3 so that I could install W8 RTM.

    OK, I'll manage to get and install W8 RTM to see how it looks myself. I just feel scared when I think of having to install a lot of stuff again after I have the new Windows. I've just got beta 4 and then there is beta 5! Why not posting it a day sooner? Or better if post it a few days later?! Guess I should say thanks anyway. Edit: Already replaced beta 4 with beta 5. Works fine as usual. Thank you.

    Isn't there an option to change it in Personalize? I'm using W8 RP, and I can change the text size only, not the color.

    Thanks for this beta 4. It's surely better than the previous one. I'm glad to have back big icons on the start menu! Btw, I don't know how W8 RTM looks like. Now I only choose to use bright themes because it's hard to see the text on the title bars with dark themes. If I have the text bold then it's easier to read but it looks so ugly! PS. Hmm... whenever I see people talking about W8 RTM I just want to download and install it immediately!

    I've changed my mind. I won't try W8 RTM because people say it looks ugly without the aero. Edit: I prefer beta 2, I don't like the taskbar that has the same color as the title bar all the time.

    Tripredacus, I've just found some links to download W8RTM from another forum. They call them ISO download links and they seem to be torrents. I guess it's not safe to try one of these W8 so I'll wait till next week. Thanks for replying.
