Gosh I didn't say I was thankful for that, I just said I liked it! I used to change the font size the way you mentioned when I still used XP. I never tried it on W7, though. W8 RP makes it easier and faster for you to change the text size only and it remains the size even when you change the theme. On XP, you will have to change the text size again everytime you change the theme again. Btw, I find out the caption on the title bar of W8 RP isn't as good as the one on W8 CP. Now if the theme changes into some dark color, it's quite hard to read the text on the title bar.

Hi Andrea, I am using W8 Release Preview now. I'm afraid there are some more coming problems! The first problem I have to deal with is rather annoying! That is when I browse through a folder of pictures, scroll down a lot then choose a pic and set it as the background wallpaper. Then the scroll bar jumps to the top of the folder immediately right after that image is applied. This also means, if I change my mind and want to choose another one to set it as the wallpaper and it is near to the bottom of the folder, I will have to scroll the mouse all the way down again! I guess there isn't a solution for this problem. I have a good news, however. It's fantastic that the old game I couldn't play on W8 CP now can run fine on W8 RP! Perhaps I'll remove W8 CP in a few days.

Yes, these sounds are not back but I find it OK. Thanks for the suggestion but I wouldn't like to use Classic Shell. I may need a shortcut to shut down the computer for my sister though. I'm waiting for your updating the list. Thanks again.

I couldn't wait for the reply so I installed it already! It works fine. I shrinked D so that I had a new partition of 40 GB and installed W8 RP there. Here's something I like from the Display: It allows changing font size without enlarge everything else. So cool! Edit: remove the image

Thanks for posting. Will give it a try on W7, but not sure when! Maybe when I can't use W8 any more!
-
It would be nice if we had the sounds on Exit, Log on and Log off back. I'll try this new version as soon as I have time to install it. I've already downloaded the ISO file.

Thanks for the links on post 1. --------------------------------- Andrea, Can I create a new partition out of an old one, D or E for example, and install W8 RP on that new one? I've already got 4 partitions: C (Win 7), D, E and H (Win 8 CP). H was made out of D. Can I have another one for W8 RP? W8 CP is working so good and I don't want to destroy it at all to upgrade to W8 RP.

CoffeeFiend, When you broke my sentence and didn't quote it as a whole you might somehow misunderstand what I wanted to tell you. Besides, you skipped my major opinion in my posts. I've implied that what I like might be what you don't like. I have my own reasons to like W8, and you have your own reasons to dislike it. I also said I liked BP's post because I didn't want to discuss about this any more, then why bother quoting my post again? About the last part of my post you said you didn't understand, I'll try to make it clear now. I am talking about this: If I choose this Automatic feature and my desktop wallpaper changes every 15 minutes, of course the theme will change its color (to match with the wallpaper color) every 15 minutes too and surely this will be very annoying. The monitor I'm using is only 19 inches in size with the default resolution of 1280x1024. When I play a game I have it run in fullscreen. When I watch a film, I enjoy it in fullscreen too. If I open Word or Excel, they are also in fullscreen. And when I am suffing the net, the browser is always open in maximize, not window. See? I rarely look at the desktop wallpaper, and if I do I don't stare at it for long. I don't need something automatically changing the wallpaper every 15 minutes while I am playing a game because I can't see it at all. And if I happen to see a nice picture on the net and decide to set it as the wallpaper, I do it myself, nothing can do it for me. I choose to do this change manually every two days. This means, the theme will automatically change the color just every two days. And in this case, exactly it is my case, the automatic feature is completely suitable to my purpose and I like it. That's what I tried to tell you. Don't say that you don't grasp it again! Edit: remove the image

BP, When I first used W7 I missed the toolbar buttons (Copy, Cut, Delete, Paste and so on) of the explorer on XP so much! I had to install Classic Shell so that I could use the Explorer in a more comfortable way. Then after 2 weeks of using only W7, I found out I prefer it to XP. When I first tried W8 something similar happened again. I was so confused with a Windows without the Start Menu. Whatever on the computer I wanted to access, I had to reach them through the Explorer only. I didn't get used to searching them on the Metro at that time. The Explorer with the Ribbon was good enough for me to know more about W8. Then after a week I decided to use it only! I still have to boot into W7 once in a while, but just to make sure that a game or an application which can't run on W8 can run faultlessly on W7. I still choose to use W8 after that checking because to my own opinion, using it is more enjoyable than using W7. Thanks a lot for your answer about the comparison between an OS on the VM and that on an actual hard disk. I have no intention to create a thread for those who like W8 because I already admitted I was the only here agreeable to this cursed W8. PS. glad that I can call you BP!
-
Okay, I'm just kidding! It doesn't count! Any idea about what I asked him, Bphlpt?
-
Andre, It's still an evalution copy and I can use it until Jan 2013. Eight months is a long time to a changeable person like me. ---------------------- UltimateSilence, I am glad to know you love the Ribbon too. On another forum I joined, most people who tried W8 said they hated the Ribbon just because it was too big for the Explorer! --------------------- CoffeeFiend, You are very good at picking out parts of what I said so that you can show out your best replies. You asked me what were the good features I liked and I gave you the list. You don't need to object it one by one and tell me something I already predicted in my last post. Here it is again in case you missed it: Btw, I am not a kid eager for changing the desktop wallpaper every 15 minutes. I have no problem doing it manually just three or four times a week. Then, the automatic theme has served this purpose perfectly therein, don't you think so?
-
Then why don't you create a topic to talk about your hatred for W8? I'm sure someone will post there wholeheartedly! OK, seriously now. I think a W8 on VM never works so well as a W8 installed directly on a partition/disk. Is this right or wrong, Andre?
-
OK, got it. Will not haunt him about this any more! I just can't help laughing to see how angry he was whenever he talked about using W8! If I can sound your nick, I will easily remember it. Said this in the other thread but don't mind saying it here again: wish you both a nice weekend. Aloha.
-
Well, if there was someone I wanted to convince to use W8, then this person would be Andre only! I don't know how to sound your nick (just all the consonants together!) but I feel like your post. It helpfully prevents me from this headachy talk. Hope you have a nice weekend. Regards.

OK, this post is a reply to the two above. I don't know if what I called the features is exactly the same features you guys called. What I really like from W8 are: - Automatic in Window Color and Appeareance is awesome. I don't have to go to the Personalize to change color theme everytime I change the wallpaper. - Windows Defender works perfect. I don't need to install any other anti-malware or anti-virus programes on my computer. I find it working better than Avira and Avast. - Task Manager looks nice. The ribbon on the Explorer works good enough so I needn't install Classic Shell as I did on W7. - I don't have to install Daemon Tools as I did on W7. Maybe there are more but I don't remember now. And maybe the above the features are only nice to me. They might be a disaster or just a fiddle-faddle to the others, I'm not sure. About WMC (= Windows Media Classic?), I never use it! I've always got VLC and the KMPlayer on Windows since I used XP and W7 so I installed them on W8 too. If I watch something on my own on the desktop, I'll run VLC. If I watch something on TV screen with my family or friends, then I'll use the KMPlayer. Both of them can play nearly every media files. And as I said before, I only use my computer for simple needs. W8 seems to meet those needs very well. In conlusion, in my previous post on this thread, I said perhaps I was the only one here agreeable to this OS. It also means that I agree that everyone has their own opinions about W8. Most people find it full of problems and don't like it. I myself, on the contrary, feel very pleasant to use it all the time. Is this completely clear to you two now? Andre, I understand that "we have different types of spoons, knifes for some specific tasks". But we also have different types of Windows users with different IT levels and different needs. That's why we have different thoughts about this issue too. I don't like the Metro screen then I ignore it, just working on the desktop only and it doesn't bother me at all. That's why I consider it just a small problem.
-
Ha ha, then the word "hate" is not strong enough to express your feeling of W8, huh? To tell you the truth, I nearly screamed out when I booted into W8 for the first time! Just wanted to restart to W7 immediately. But I didn't. It took me time to get used to the missing Start Menu. It's around 7 months I've been using W8, and only W8. And you know what? Nowadays, I hate it if I have to boot into W7 for some trivial reasons. You mean the Metro Screen? I don't like it either and I always choose Desktop to go on. I don't find it annoying at all. Hmm... and don't post ugly comics again, please!
-
Uh oh! I expected you would say you used it three times a week! It's OK, however. You'll still know the answers to my problems, will you? But, do you think you will change your mind if you spend more time on W8? I even think you'll like it when you decide to use it everyday!
-
OK, then perhaps I am the only one here who is agreeable to this new OS! It comes to my sense that when I choose to use W8 with new nice features, I'll accept both the advantages and disadvantages. I mean, I'll enjoy all the good features, as for small and unimportant problems, I'll leave them alone!
-
I don't understand sometimes. If people want to have exactly the same appearance and features of W7, such as old Start Menu, Explorer without the ribbon, then why bother installing W8? Why not simply stick to W7 for it's a better choice?
-
And you seem to hate W8 through your posts too! I wonder if people who don't like W8 or try to show others that they don't like W8 have ever used it long enough to hate it as they mentioned a lot!!!
-
Surely W7 looks more beautiful than XP! Why did you have to buy W7 and then try to make it look and work just like XP?
-
Very interesting list. Quite a few things are missing but I haven't noticed until now. Thanks for posting it. As for the removed games on the desktop, I think Solitaire on the Metro Screen is just fine. I play it from time to time. There are other games but I remove all, keep Solitaire only!
-
Do you work on W8 everyday, Andre? It seems to me that you don't like it at all! But you know most of the problems related to W8 and have answers for them. Do you ever use it for the whole day without booting into any other OS? Just a little curious! Btw, the problem about the Homegroup icon has never happened since I installed W8CP. It's quite good.
-
OK, I've just read the article. Quite interesting! In some way it explains why I have no trouble in running this game on W7. Thanks again for the link.
-
You mean it isn't related to the resolution? Not sure why it can run OK on W7. I believe the color settings there is always set to 32bit. I don't remember whether I ever played this game or not during the time I was using W8DP. I happened to run it just two days ago and was surprised to have those error warnings. Well, I guess W7 is the best solution if I really want to play this game again. Thanks for replying, MagicAndre.
