  2. Yes it is. That's what "Alex F." (Thorium) wrote at his official github page. Not long after "Alex F." edited his profile and changed location from Russia to US. "I just tweak a few things, and do the necessary steps to remove Supermium branding..." He didn't, the maker himself did. Familiarize yourself with his statement. https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/363#issuecomment-1998666719

  3. How MSFN prohibition is relevant? Read the topic title again, please. 1 - MSFN board is not available in Russia without VPN! 2 - VPN is illegal in Russia. 3 - Checkmate. So - we shouldn't see any Russians here at all. But they are here, so - they break their own law and going towards criminal prosecution (with FSB at their doors, according to their own law cited by Saxon).

  4. Please, don't try to start a fight! The sanctions which our governments applied are the result of what your country does. Those are facts, there's no "hatred" in that. MSFN is located in France, thus has to obey. The time will come, and one day you all will be ashamed of your behaviour! Though, I don't believe in that.

  5. Anyway. Fixed! After all that, it turned out that the problem was with Malwarebytes Premium, which I use as my Internet security. It has a function which allows it to protect certain programs. I've already had to turn it off for other programs like Acrobat Reader and Word, where it caused freezes. I should have realised that it was a prime suspect here. I switched off its protection of Chrome, and everything came good. Quite why it wasn't causing the same problem with Supermium 121 I have no idea, but 122 is now running fine, in fact much more quickly than 121 ever did. It is of course very likely that Malwarebytes was slowing down 121 as well, but just not making it crash. Thanks everyone for the help. Cheers, Dave.

  6. That's unfortunately not enough. What about all default uBlock filters? For blocking YouTube ads, you can enable uBlock filters – Quick fixes and GoodbyeAds-YouTube-AdBlock-Filter. In my thread, you will find my latest release containing all these filter lists and more. And in my article, you will find corresponding images of the tab Filter lists. In any case, I don't get ads in YouTube videos when using my mod uBlock Origin Legacy.

  7. New Moon 28 is the browser I mainly use from @roytam1's releases. Many websites can be loaded without serious problems. But of course, there are bloated and cumbersome sites which are loading terribly. However, some of them can be edited with the help of uBlock Origin so that they run reasonably well again. For example, you can neuter the GMX homepage and completely remove all the news, adverts, videos and so on. Or use the right filter lists to access news pages like The New York Times again. On PCWelt, around 1000 elements are blocked with my activated filter lists and runs super smoothly again. However, without uBO, it would make no sense to access such websites on older machines.

  8. We'd like to see some hard proof of that. Like @NotHereToPlayGames always puts it - "gut feeling doesn't count".

  9. Stop threatening MSFN members. If you are so disgusted by the collective decision of the Reddit's highly respected community to officially label it as "child pornography distribution", if you don't agree with the results of the investigation, just ignore those posts. And this matter is directly related to the compromised security of that browser and safety of MSFN members, consequently - it's not off-topic.

  11. Now I've finally got it working properly, Superium 122 seems to be pretty good on 32 bit XP. It still eats memory voraciously, so I still get the 'out of memory' tab freezes, but I've not seen any problems with fonts or any other display issues, once I got the scaling right. I still think it's a very impressive piece of work, and a boon for XP users.

  12. Using VPN is illegal in Russia, let me ask you, what are you doing here in the first place? According to the Russian laws, you're here illegally and you will be prosecuted. "Putin bans VPNs in web browsing crackdown" https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-40774315 "Signed by President Vladimir Putin in July, the law imposes restrictions on proxy avoidance tools." https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-41829726 My advice for you is to calm down and let MSFN members be in peace. No one here "shoves" hatred into you.

  16. You don't have to, facts tell for themselves! Besides, it'd be boring because you all tell the same. Regarding VPN, the administration of MSFN had their right reserved to block whatever they want, it's written in the rules. When (and if) they allow Russia to be whitelisted again, they will notify you, stay tuned. I hope politics wasn't the reason you joined MSFN, seeing it's your first post.

  17. Hello @Felipefpl! Do once again a clean install! That means you have to manually delete the file ublock0.sqlite inside your profile subfolder extension-data. But don't forget to backup your settings and rules first! BTW, I tested updating from version 1.16.4.33 to version 1.16.4.34 and didn't notice any problems when doing this with the alternative method.

  18. I wouldn't risk my computer with the officially proven to be compromised browser. In the comments they wrote many other nasty things it does, in addition to what already been found, but of course, everyone decides for himself. The Reddit community advises to delete it. Are the just stupid? I don't think so.

  20. BTW, I do not watch YouTube videos in browsers under Windows XP. YouTube has become bloated and cumbersome for many years. Under Windows XP and older, weaker machines, there are different ways to watch them more unbloated and less resource-consuming. @NotHereToPlayGames One way is to use the extension uTube from RealityRipple Software for UXP browsers. Doing so, you won't see any ads, even not these annoyances at the end of the Adblocker Test Video. All you have to do is to edit the install.rdf to make it compatible with New Moon 28 or Serpent 52.

  21. ... I totally agree with you on this ; but you didn't have to convince me in the first place ... However, try to preach to the number of members here who are (still) under the impression that using a content blocker (such as uBO) will "significantly slow down" their browsing experience on their antiquated H/W ... Yes, uBO does consume a slight RAM portion to do its job, but if you're very low on RAM (< 512MB), you probably shouldn't face the current web with that machine of yours ...

  22. I have ran (in VM only) some Thorium releases in the past. LONG before Supermium was ever a thing! I did find Thorium to be STABLE. Even with only 2GB RAM allocated to the VM. Like it or not, Supermium is simply NOT THERE -- *yet* I personally don't mind, in the least, viewing Thorium EXACTLY as we did 360Chrome "in the days of forgotten lore". Nobody trusted 360Chrome in the beginning either. It was MSFN Members that evolved it into something we were comfortable with. Logging its every connection, hex editing .dll's, customizing GUI, et cetera. Nothing wrong, in the least, with doing the same to Thorium... And Supermium... Show a screen cap of Thorium making a questionable connection. The "throw granny from the cliffs" scare tactic approach isn't doing anybody any good.

  25. I'd suggest to avoid this "browser" at all costs, simply to skip any potential problems with the police. Already discussed here, in the topics below. And since it's a Supermium's knock-off, based solely on Supermium, strange you have troubles with Supermium itself. https://msfn.org/board/topic/185045-supermium/?do=findComment&comment=1263138 https://www.reddit.com/r/browsers/comments/18ihls8/dont_use_thorium_browser_if_you_have_it_installed/

  27. Image saving problems were already reported in Mypal 68's issues: https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/issues/273 Personally, I never tried to save images using Mypal 68.13.9b but I will try to do so when I'm back at my desktop computer. I was just saving some JPEG images from Google. No problems here. Anyway! You should provide some links where saving of images doesn't work for you. Then, we can see whether there is a problem or not.

  29. There was no misleading information in @AstroSkipper's post, and MyPal 68 works perfectly fine with that German DNS provider with no-logging policy. P.S. "N." word is a bad word, at least in the US.

  30. Wait a minute, so you knew it doesn't work in MyPal right from the start, and you didn't warn the people of MSFN! This is disrespect and disinformation, at the very least. Yes, multiple accounts here use MyPal, what's wrong with that? Care to explain? What are you angry with?

  33. AFAIK, government-approved VPNs are allowed. "Goverment"-approved VPNs are no VPNs in that country. ? NotHereToPlayGames is either using a government-sanctioned VPN, is a scofflaw, or is not posting from Russia. Struggle to see how this is relevant to the thread, explain? You misquoted Saxon. The quoted statement Using VPN is illegal in Russia, let me ask you, what are you doing here in the first place? According to the Russian laws, you're here illegally and you will be prosecuted. was not addressed to @NotHereToPlayGames, but to someone else. See my quote! And TBH, something like this shouldn't really happen. And certainly not to a native speaker if you are one.

  37. @UCyborg I know you have implemented the "redirect-rule" directive in your new release. But if one wants to make your version 1.16.6b1 not perform such redirections, the entry ignoreRedirectFilters can be set from false to true in the advanced settings. Then your version 1.16.6b1 will behave like version 1.16.4.30 up to 1.16.4.34 again although this entry has the default value false in these versions which I never had to or intended to change. But when doing so, these strange noop.txt and noop.js entries are no longer in the logger. The network filter @@*$redirect-rule was only introduced in version 1.22 and therefore cannot be used. Although I understand the idea of such redirections, especially to prevent breakage of websites when blocking certain content, these entries in the logger do personally bother me if I am honest.

  38. When these empty files noop.txt and noop.js are returned, will they be stored locally on the computer? Where are they generated at all? And what exactly means local in this context? Local file on the server, local file on the client/computer? In any case, I couldn't find such files. TBH, this all is a bit confusing.

  40. Hello @UCyborg! I have just tested your new release uBlock Origin 1.16.6b1 by using the ad block testing site https://test.adminforge.de/adblock.html. While my release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.34 blocked all ads with a score of 100%, your version wasn't able to do this and got a score of only 84%. The comparison was done using the same filter lists and same own filters in both versions. I was checking the performance of both releases with the uBO logger to see what's going on and noticed entries about noop.txt and noop.js in the log generated by your release which I didn't get when using my release. As far as I know, noop stands for no operation. One consequence of this is that some of my own filter rules under the tab "My rules" are simply ignored when using your release. Any ideas what your release is doing on this ad block testing site? Here is a screenshot testing uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.34 in New Moon 28: And here is a screenshot testing uBlock Origin 1.16.6b in New Moon 28: Cheers, AstroSkipper

  43. No, it was "explicit", there was an official investigation on github, with the help of their users community. "Anti-Circumcision (sexuallymutilatedchild) pages with documentary images were found in Thorium author page source code repository. They have been removed from the main branch with commit 15f9d5bd9a50f85f0019ec9bcc2d4183f868a6b5. This is exactly what the community has decided to mark as the child pornography distribution." "In the same source repo from above, a small collection of "hidden" furry pornography (soft and explicit) was also found" https://www.reddit.com/r/browsers/comments/18ihls8/dont_use_thorium_browser_if_you_have_it_installed/

  44. First of all, I think it's right and good that someone other than myself is also working on the great and very important extension uBlock Origin Legacy and developing it further. Since nothing has happened for years, I see my efforts here in relation to uBlock Origin Legacy as a kind of initial spark to maintain this extension again and bring it up to date. Based on the way a well-known American moron speaks I would say: "Make uBlock Origin Legacy great again!" @UCyborg has started a promising project on GitHub. I already had a look at it. An indirect collaboration has already taken place, as he has used my internal list of all standard filter lists, i.e. the assets.json file, as the basis for his one. But I cannot and will not comment on direct collaboration at this point. In any case, I will continue to maintain my version here for a while. The next version is coming up very soon. This means that the user now has the option of choosing their preferred version. As I have already said between the lines, a wider range of products generally stimulates "business". Cheers, AstroSkipper
