Please, don't try to start a fight! The sanctions which our governments applied are the result of what your country does. Those are facts, there's no "hatred" in that. MSFN is located in France, thus has to obey. The time will come, and one day you all will be ashamed of your behaviour! Though, I don't believe in that.5 points

Yeah, Im certainly not moving onto the next version. Even if that means having to disable windows automatic updates. Not until I know I can retain my classic UI features.3 points

Russia is blocked because of spammers. Nothing wrong with Russian people posting here, if they are breaking a law in their own country then that is something they will have to deal with themselves.2 points

The Russian VPN ban is not a blanket ban on VPN usage. It is a ban on using VPN's to access web sites that are prohibited in Russia. Russia does not prohibit citizens from being MSFN members. MSFN blocking Russian IP Addresses is entirely different - MSFN does not ban any member from access MSFN via VPN, regardless of country of origin. You guys are seeing things through a narrow prism and interpreting things your own way. Feel free to discuss with a lawyer. Saxon, no you are not breaking any laws. Indicating that Xao_Fan-Tzilin is breaking laws is where you are wrong here. I'm done. Some times it is easier to debate with a brick wall then it is to "discuss" with people already of a set mindset.2 points

I have a similar Xeon Board from 2009. It was sold with the first edition of Server 2008. Server 2008 was issued to OEM sales on January 2008. Server 2003 and XP64 had some odd behaviour with the C-states of Xeon CPUs. I had to force C1 state only, and the issues were gone.2 points

You don't have to, facts tell for themselves! Besides, it'd be boring because you all tell the same. Regarding VPN, the administration of MSFN had their right reserved to block whatever they want, it's written in the rules. When (and if) they allow Russia to be whitelisted again, they will notify you, stay tuned. I hope politics wasn't the reason you joined MSFN, seeing it's your first post.2 points

When these empty files noop.txt and noop.js are returned, will they be stored locally on the computer? Where are they generated at all? And what exactly means local in this context? Local file on the server, local file on the client/computer? In any case, I couldn't find such files. TBH, this all is a bit confusing. I found, for example, this redirect rule in the filter list uBlock filters – Unbreak: ||cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace$xhr,3p,redirect-rule=noop.txt,domain=~funimation.com|~1bit.space|~1bitspace.com Looking at the code, it seems that the file noop.txt will be created by uBO locally on the computer. Right? Is it only generated for milliseconds and then immediately deleted again? That would at least explain why I couldn't find it. Anyway! I would like to understand this redirection mechanism in more detail.2 points

@UCyborg I know you have implemented the "redirect-rule" directive in your new release. But if one wants to make your version 1.16.6b1 not perform such redirections, the entry ignoreRedirectFilters can be set from false to true in the advanced settings. Then your version 1.16.6b1 will behave like version 1.16.4.30 up to 1.16.4.34 again although this entry has the default value false in these versions which I never had to or intended to change. But when doing so, these strange noop.txt and noop.js entries are no longer in the logger. The network filter @@*$redirect-rule was only introduced in version 1.22 and therefore cannot be used. Although I understand the idea of such redirections, especially to prevent breakage of websites when blocking certain content, these entries in the logger do personally bother me if I am honest.2 points

I too (and others) use SAB for the classic taskbar mainly, if it is no longer available.... Not sure we're happy with the really ugly default taskbar (thickness, etc...) Or stay with the 23h21 point

Everything is possible, we don't see who's on the other end of the cable. But NotHereToPlayGames never complained about the VPN problems. Struggle to see how this is relevant to the thread, explain?1 point
-
Not sure about relevance, but posting from the East Coast of Burgerland. lol?1 point
-
How MSFN prohibition is relevant? Read the topic title again, please. 1 - MSFN board is not available in Russia without VPN! 2 - VPN is illegal in Russia. 3 - Checkmate. So - we shouldn't see any Russians here at all. But they are here, so - they break their own law and going towards criminal prosecution (with FSB at their doors, according to their own law cited by Saxon).1 point
-
Sorry, Saxon. You are using this VPN ban out of context. Only if MSFN is prohibited in Russia is Xao_Fan-Tzilin (edit: had wrong name before edit) breaking any laws. Is MSFN prohibited in Russia? I don't know, nor care. But unless MSFN itself is prohibited, then Saxon is legally allowed by law in his own country to access MSFN via VPN. That said, I personally feel that MSFN should not allow VPN access, but that is an MSFN decision.1 point
-
Using VPN is illegal in Russia, let me ask you, what are you doing here in the first place? According to the Russian laws, you're here illegally and you will be prosecuted. "Putin bans VPNs in web browsing crackdown" https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-40774315 "Signed by President Vladimir Putin in July, the law imposes restrictions on proxy avoidance tools." https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-41829726 My advice for you is to calm down and let MSFN members be in peace. No one here "shoves" hatred into you.1 point

When I talk about data protection and internet security, it's always about privacy. I belong to neither the one nor the other school you mentioned. And people who spread all sorts of ill-considered stuff on the Internet or are willing to give away unlimited data can't be helped anyway.1 point

It lacks a lot more when you think of it... the position adjustment (just a poor Indian startup can't afford to implement moving the taskbar to the left, y'know), the height adjustment (talking about both icon size and multiline taskbar), system tray icons customization, taskbar applets support if anyone still uses them... even the re-implemented features are working awfully, like new uncombined taskbar that uses different width for taskbar items (why??? what was their point of doing so???)...1 point

Your ISP knows your traffic whether or not you use their DNS resolver or somebody else's DNS resolver, be that through your web browser, your OS, or your routers DNS capabilities. So you can either do it all through your ISP or you set a different DNS and now you've DOUBLED the amount of "data" collected 'in your name' because now your ISP and that third-party DNS has logged your every move.1 point

I could remember that post. I should have run all the three command: regsvr32 MSI.DLL regsvr32 MSIHND.DLL regsvr32 MSISIP.DLL To be sure I run them again, but still not work. Do I have to replace the NTDLL.dll?1 point

Please, then do not allow comments like this to be posted here (according to forum rules, political and religious discussions cannot be started): To D.Draker: The time will come, and one day you will all be ashamed of your behavior! I am not responding to your comment with reasons and facts only because the forum rules prohibit political sentiments (although this did not stop you from writing your comment thoroughly saturated with politics and hatred)..1 point

Hello @Felipefpl! Do once again a clean install! That means you have to manually delete the file ublock0.sqlite inside your profile subfolder extension-data. But don't forget to backup your settings and rules first! BTW, I tested updating from version 1.16.4.33 to version 1.16.4.34 and didn't notice any problems when doing this with the alternative method.1 point

Update notification! - uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.34 - Special mod by @AstroSkipper I have again updated my special mod uBlock Origin Legacy from version 1.16.4.33 to version 1.16.4.34. Starting with this version, installing over an existing installation of uBlock Origin Legacy (1.16.4.34 and higher) is completely working again. The immediate loading of the updated, internal list of all preselected filter lists (assets.json) can be triggered by the function "Purge all caches" or "Update now". From now on, the user will get the internal list of all preselected filter lists (assets.json) automatically. And I added new filter lists to different groups. More details can be found in the changelog in my main article, and of course the download link. The update to version 1.16.4.34 should be done as already described, but this time for the very last time. The easiest way is the alternative method: Backup all your settings using the "Back up to file" button on the page "Settings". Install the new version of uBlock Origin Legacy over the existing one. Reset your installation using the "Reset to default settings" button on the page "Settings". Restore all settings from your backup file. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

A good advice would be to search on the dedicated Acer forums or laptop BIOS modding communities. Probably they already know how to remove that hard lock. Probably it's not there at al (very rare)l, but the chances are extrenmely high it's locked since Acer is known to do that.1 point

Custom buttons - An underrated alternative or supplement to extensions Although most custom buttons are old or even very old, many of them do still work in @roytam1's browsers, Basilisk or Pale Moon. These custom buttons have unfortunately fallen completely out of the focus of users. Many don't know them at all or have simply never used them. I think this is a great pity, as they are a simple, resource-saving and therefore efficient way to add missing or advanced functions to browsers in which a compatible Custom Buttons extension can be installed. Most custom buttons are rather specialised and add features to the browser that cannot even be retrofitted with extensions. The reason is very simple, such legacy extensions weren't and won't be developed any longer to the extent that it once was. Only a few are still maintained, and a very few are developed from scratch. In these days, only webextensions are developed. Anyway! In my browser profiles, the Custom Buttons extension is always the first one I install and then all my favourite custom buttons. Only then are all further required extensions installed. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

This version has much more options than the old one. Its layout is more modern, and this Custom Buttons extensions offers features which the old one doesn't have. All is working in the moment as it should. This Custom Buttons extension seems to be a perfect choice especially for the more advanced users. Here is a preview. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

On some driver bundles it's simply not detected correctly by GPU-Z. But if the programme folder is present in the right location, the software will work. ProgramFiles/NVIDIA Corporation/Physx (for 32 bit OS). ProgramFiles (x86)/NVIDIA Corporation/Physx (for 64 bit OS).1 point

Of course! The installation itself is somewhere faulty, not the installer.1 point

I absolutely agree with you ! Also they could just be following the world sanctions (declared by all normal countries). MSFN is under European (Danish ? Dutch ?) jurisdiction. So MSFN ought to comply with the Euro sanctions (ie - ban everything Russia). It's a very serious matter, since the russkies are not allowed to use any western tech (software/hardware). I have a friend in Germany, he once told, russkie tourists buy drones for their military use, and the German customs is on high alert. Here they can read some pretty useful info, so no good, no good at all. P.S. Sorry can't put a reaction, maybe you already read. https://msfn.org/board/topic/183266-pretty-detox-posts/?do=findComment&comment=12374781 point
