  1. I don't rely on "user allowed" settings as they come back to default each time when a new profile is made, so I use it via cmd --disable-quic , without quotes of course.

  2. Thank you for your honest opinion! I'm outta likes for today, unfortunately, that's why I write this in plain words. Glad to be of help, that's the reason I made this topic. It would still be helpful if you voted.

  3. This topic is about Google's QUIC implementation, which is clearly shown in the title, yet it obviously doesn't prevent you from posting off-topic and insulting, all as usual with your posts.

  4. This is the rule which has to be added in uBlock Origin Legacy under the tab "My rules" to block the browser detection of the website https://winraid.level1techs.com/ and let it load properly again: winraid.level1techs.com https://winraid.level1techs.com/assets/browser-detect-99f42f91bffa8ca1606d62b70bb92f981d83921e78ccdbd3d9538f07007f27ac.js script block And if you want to block all these browser detection scripts of this type from all websites, you simply have to create an universal rule in the tab "My filters", strictly according to the motto "one for all" , just like this one: /*browser-detect-*.js I personally prefer the latter to block as many of those crappy browser detection scripts as possible. 6. ... Yes, https://fanart.tv is behind CF's "protection" , but the CF challenge is being successfully passed here using a minimal NM28 profile with just uBO-legacy as a content blocker: Having been in previous exchanges with you , something in your restricted NM28 profile or one of your privacy-oriented mitigations is intervening and prevents the CF-issued browser challenge from being successfully handled by NM28 ... I'm not absolving CF in any way BTW, they, along with Google , are the arch-enemies of "legacy" browser platforms, but if I'm able to access your site here, so should you ... If you have some spare time you'd like to devote on reading, here's a PM-Forum recent mega-thread chronicling latest CF shenanigans ... Best regards from overly hot (27 C) Greece ...

  7. After a long and time-consuming editing and fixing of my main article in the form of trial and error, I have been able yet to trick this crappy forum post editor. Once again, many thanks to the causer of the forum post editor breakage and for still not fixing it after a couple of months now! Anyway! I will update my self-created, offline Root Certificate Updaters in the section 11.2.4. Downloads related to Root Certificate Updates (in the first post of this thread) as soon as possible. 8. Update notification! Malware Hunter has been updated on 01.04.2024 and is now available in version 1.181.0.803. It is still listed to be compatible with Windows XP. Accordingly, I will update my article as soon as I can confirm its XP-compatibility. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  9. No matter your mood, you're demanded to be respectful on the forum. https://msfn.org/board/guidelines/ And stop insulting once in a while. 7.b This community is built upon mutual respect. You are not allowed to flame other members. People who do not respect personal opinions and/or personal work will be warned in first instance. If you ignore the warning and keep on flaming, you will be banned without notice. You ignored that rule 75389623702702037 times. Good, less dangerous advice. Don't like my topics? Ignore.

  10. Like I said, the revision B1 always runs hotter. Besides, you could simply get a a bad ASIC quality card. over 90C is the max limit, I think at 95 it should throttle down and reboot to try to save itself.

  12. This driver will not crash, it's known to be stable with old cards/systems/boards. It may have a bit less results in tests, but it's not noticeable in gaming. "Best driver for GTX 960 so far. Finally my TERA Online issues are gone . Those are far far more stable than 347.25 or 347.52." https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/geforce-icafe-347-26-whql-driver.396457/page-4

  13. FYI, I had a "nice" conversation in the Malwarebytes Forums: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/309490-have-you-all-stopped-making-updates/ Unfortunately, there won't be any further definition updates for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Pro 1.75.0.1300. They have deliberately stopped rolling out current definition updates for this version. After the end of support for Avast Free Antivirus 2015, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.2.1.1043 and now Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Pro 1.75.0.1300, the air is getting very, very thin for anyone who wants to run an antimalware programme with real-time protection on a machine with an SSE only CPU that is still receiving current definition updates. All in all, bad news!

  15. I would never install install spyware like Tik-tok on my phone unless maybe in a deeply virtualized and isolated environment. Nevertheless I am generally against any kind of software bans, including this one. It feels like banning (names are made up) Turbo KMS but allowing (forgetting about) Super KMS and I don't think it's how the law should look like

  16. Hi @AstroSkipper, I tried some of your toggle buttons, and you e-cleaner, but the toggle buttons were made for functions I don't really change, and I have an alternative for the ecleaner (in the "clean uninstall" addon). However, I like the preftogler concept very much, and looking briefly at the code, I think I can fashion settings I actually may want to change to visit some sites, now and then. And I like your restart and purge startup caches, beginning with the fact that it actually makes a restart, and that it simplifies the process of cleaning said caches when installing/trying new stuff. In mypal68 I also use the restart button, and the about:everything button.

  18. @j7n This is not the correct use of this opcode: In the real cmpxchg8b [EBP], there is the first check, if the value in memory (low 32 bit) is the same as in EAX. When yes, those lower 32 bit are changed against the value in EBX. So, using CMPXCHG [EBP], EBX offers exact this functionality, but only for the lower 32bit of the 64 bit in memory Dietmar

  19. Actually, instead of getting the Canary build, I will consider getting the latest stable Windows 11 build (22631 at the time of this writing) in a VM and install StartAllBack from there. Thanks for the advice!

  23. Well it's patching explorer and you are running a pre-production build where changes are being made to explorer. What would you expect? Everything to completely work 100% of the time? This is why when using software like SAB it's best to stay on production as I'm certain Tihiy is testing every Canary build in a VM for major issues and patching them before they can make it down the pipeline to prod. I would advise against using Dev or Canary on your main machine, explore it in a VM safely where there's no risk of data loss or other issues.

  24. Pref Toggler - A custom button for toggling user-selected preferences in about:config The Pref Toggler custom button, created by the great developer srazzano long time ago, is one of my favourite ones. It gives the opportunity to switch very specific preferences, which have been selected and configured by the user first, much more quickly and clearly than using the about:config page. The controlled preferences by Pref Toggler can be Boolean, String or Integer ones. In addition, this custom button allows direct control over the current state of these user-selected preferences. A tool bar icon in the form of a glowing bulb gives the user an additional indication that some preferences are not in their default state. I only changed the icon images of this custom button inside its code in terms of size for better fit in the tool bar and the main interface window. Here are some screenshots to get an impression how the user interface of Pref Toggler looks like and works: This is the main interface: Clicking onto the button "Edit List", you can add, edit or delete preferences to be controlled: The bulb is glowing due to controlled preferences which are not in their default state: The bulb is not glowing because all controlled preferences are in their default state: : Toggling Boolean preferences is done by a left-click and editing String or Integer preferences by a middle-click or right-click: The user-selected preferences are stored in about.config by a preference of Pref toggler with the name extensions.custombuttons.PrefToggler.prefList. Pref Toggler is indeed a great custom button and definitely recommended by me. I uploaded the Pref Toggler custom button as an HTML file for an offline installation. Here is the download link of my modded custom button Pref Toggler, credits, of course, to its brilliant developer srazzano : https://www.mediafire.com/file/b069qa1jwallwqe/Pref_Toggler_02.04.2024.html/file Simply open this HTML file in a browser tab and click the embedded custom button link for Pref Toggler! For the installation of this button, as for all others too, the extension Custom Buttons is required and has to be installed first. You can get it from this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183923-extensions-and-custom-buttons-for-uxp-browsers-corrections-modifications-adjustments-and-special-recommendations/?do=findComment&comment=1226328 Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper

  25. The reason I'm asking so much for your opinion is the impression I get that many users either don't have custom buttons on their radar or don't really know what to do with them or have just never tried them. Anyway! In my next post, I will present one of my favourite custom buttons made by a great developer of extensions and custom buttons which I install in all my profiles of New Moon and Serpent by default to keep an eye on certain, self-selected browser preferences and control them. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  27. No, you don't. DXVA2 is natively supported, You can combine it with CUDA, of course. H264 plays fine with DXVA2 up to 1080p. For H264 2160p or H265 8 bit you need to add CUDA to the mix*. *If your CPU is weak.

  29. These temps are related to the B1 revision of your card. I had two GTX780 with A1 and B1 revisions. A1 was cool and silent. B1 was hotter and noisier. Also, it had a tendency to crash with newer drivers after 347.26. That's why I know the problem, You can try to replace your cooling solution or apply MX4.

  33. Statements such as “TikTok is actually getting banned in the US” (the title of a March 20 post) are quite premature. The bill passed by the House was just another ultimatum (sell TikTok within the specified time or else we will ban the app), and cannot become law unless it is also passed by the Senate. If the Senate fails to act this year, we might have a different president who says he is opposed to the TikTok bill. The latest news here in the U.S. is that the Federal Trade Commission has been investigating TikTok: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/03/26/biden-administration-tiktok-data-practices-00149139 A link in that article reports that the European Union is also investigating TikTok: https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-goes-after-tiktok-over-addictive-design-minors-protections/ As I pointed out above several months ago, India has already banned TikTok and many other Chinese apps.

  34. Although I have said that the air is getting very, very thin for anyone who wants to run an antimalware programme with real-time protection on a machine with an SSE only CPU that is still receiving current definition updates, however, common sense should not desert the user of such old computers. I will test whether Panda Free Antivirus will run on computers with a CPU that does not have SSE2 support. Maybe, there are other users who have already gained experience with Panda Free Antivirus on such computers and are willing to share their knowledge.

  37. FYI, due to the fact that the MSFN forum editor is totally broken and hasn't been working properly for months, especially when it comes to inserting of links , I wasn't able to edit my main article ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use the last weeks. Unfortunately, I have to revise and to change some content in this article to be hopefully able again to edit it and to add the links for the new offline Root Certificate Updaters. This all is very annoying and time-consuming.
