  1. Update notification! As already reported , the Root Certificates have been updated and are now from 26-03-2024. Here are screenshots of both updaters: Therefore, my self-created, offline Root Certificate Updaters in the section 11.2.4. Downloads related to Root Certificate Updates (in the first post of this thread) will also be updated if I can somehow trick this crappy forum post editor. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  2. News about my mod uBlock Origin Legacy! I have of course noticed that there is considerable interest in my mod uBlock Origin Legacy. I have therefore addressed the problem of updating an existing installation of my mod. With the upcoming release of uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.34, it will then also be possible to install over an existing installation of my mod (1.16.4.34 and higher). The internal list of all preselected filter lists (assets.json) will then finally be automatically updated, too. I am still in the testing phase, but everything looks good and seems to work so far. 4. It was a joke. Clearly, the title is misspelled, not to mention the overall misleading, clickbait style name of the topic and improper, poor English grammar. No articles to support that "theory", nothing.

  5. Install the extension SQLite Manager 0.8.3.1 from the Classic Add-ons Archive! This extension can manage sqlite files such as your webappsstore.sqlite inside New Moon. BTW, my file is only about 12 MB. With SQLite Manager 0.8.3.1, you can view all entries, add new ones, edit or delete old ones. My webappsstore.sqlite files in different profiles are of different sizes from 96 KB up to 12 MB.

  7. FYI, due to the fact that the MSFN forum editor is totally broken and hasn't been working properly for months, especially when it comes to inserting of links , I wasn't able to edit my main article ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use the last weeks. Unfortunately, I have to revise and to change some content in this article to be hopefully able again to edit it and to add the links for the new offline Root Certificate Updaters. This all is very annoying and time-consuming.

  10. @legacyfan Personally, I've never heard of a word in my life called shakey, only shaky. Also, what's wrong with Windows 11 currently? I mean, what are your complaints now about Windows 11? It's currently at a good status, now that 2 years have passed. I'm currently at the Insider Canary Channel, so I get to know what's being baked very early. Also, in my opinion, you shouldn't be concerned about Windows as a user who loves Linux very much, and uses it. Yes, I know about MS's cloud storage, called OneDrive (which filled my desktop with trash many times, but I was still able to get rid of OneDrive nonetheless), and MS's enforced web browser, which has been shoved to our thorats since its release date, called Edge, I was able to get rid of it as well.

  14. Thanks a lot! This is a clear indication for disproving my theory that Hyper-Threading is responsible for lower memory consumption. Hyper-threading is not the culprit.

  15. Very interesting is the difference between #2 XP x86 safe mode and #2 XP x86 normal with regard to the values of the Private bytes column. In normal mode, you have similar values such as @NotHereToPlayGames and me, but in safe mode, much lower values such as many others here. At the next opportunity, I will also test 360Chrome in safe mode. And the difference between #1 XP x64 normal and #1 XP x64 fresh install (saved partition, NO drivers/software that aren't from the official CD) with regard to the values of the Private bytes column makes me suspect that certain drivers, e.g. for memory management, could be responsible.

  16. Hello @IXOYE! Could you please be so kind to perform your test once again with Hyper-Threading disabled? If the values did not change significantly without activated Hyper-Threading, this would be a clear indication for disproving my theory that this feature is responsible for lower memory consumption. Thanks in advance!

  17. Within the last few months we have seen the biggest decrease and corporate self destruction I at least have ever seen. Reddit and Twitter, both competing to see who can destroy their platform the fastest! Kinda makes me think after this that even after how advertisers are leaving both platforms, and especially how Microsoft has stopped making major posts (mostly Mojang), brings up the interesting thought that smaller more focused content forums like MSFN and other ones like Planet Minecraft and TenForums may actually grow in popularity once more, especially with Reddit now having upset their user base to no end. Really unfortunate. Now a good amount of my google term + Reddit searches won't be as useful anymore. Really unfortunate though because you can't really tell if the news you are reading is even real or not. Guess everyones back to the smaller places again. The internet honestly, has never felt more emptier to me. I've stopped using Twitter, Reddit, Instagram and Snapchat. Probably for the best, though. I still communicate on Discord. Truly hilarious.

  20. Statements such as “TikTok is actually getting banned in the US” (the title of a March 20 post) are quite premature. The bill passed by the House was just another ultimatum (sell TikTok within the specified time or else we will ban the app), and cannot become law unless it is also passed by the Senate. If the Senate fails to act this year, we might have a different president who says he is opposed to the TikTok bill. The latest news here in the U.S. is that the Federal Trade Commission has been investigating TikTok: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/03/26/biden-administration-tiktok-data-practices-00149139 A link in that article reports that the European Union is also investigating TikTok: https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-goes-after-tiktok-over-addictive-design-minors-protections/ As I pointed out above several months ago, India has already banned TikTok and many other Chinese apps.

  30. I'm not surprised. It means you got a re-issued 555 disguised as 710. I once bought a card that was named "GTS250", in fact it turned out to be a bit overclocked older model 9800GTX. Nothing to worry about. Those are of similar performance level.

  31. I felt like I had to watch Oppenheimer in view of all the Academy Awards it won earlier this month, but I was rather disappointed by the film. Why did filmmaker Christopher Nolan include brief sex scenes that caused Oppenheimer to be rated R in the U.S.? My theory: To discourage parents from bringing children to a very dull 3-hour movie that might give them nuclear nightmares. No wonder that Barbie (which I have not seen) made more money when the two films were in competition last summer. Call me a science fiction fan, but I still think Nolan’s best film was Interstellar starring Matthew McConaughey (2014). Here’s a link to an Oppenheimer trailer anyway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYPbbksJxIg

  32. On behalf of xper, an explanation for MSFN being offline for the last few days. An ingress of water at the location of the server caused damage, fortunately not to the server itself, but to the room's UPS system batteries, which necessitated the removal of power and a physical move of the server to another location. This obviously took some time to do. Hopefully there will now be no further issues relating to this.

  33. Blurays and films that are "remastered" by id*ots is nothing new. They are too bright and acid, agree. It's the same as those newly remastered audio CDs during the ear of loudness wars. https://dr.loudness-war.info/ I just can't find the proper English jargon name for such releases. Brightness wars, maybe?

  38. Wonka film review is rather good, but "Timothée Chalamet is a bit miscast". I'm not surprised, I felt the same. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/reviews/wonka-review-timothee-chalamet-b2457979.html Independent is a credible source with good critics, I don't want to argue with anyone, just accept this fact. Those who don't agree, I'm sorry, you aren't critics from Independent, but you of course have the right to your individual view on this.

  39. U.S. House of Representatives passes TikTok Bill TikTok is back in the news here in the United States. The bill passed by the House would ban TikTok if Chinese parent company ByteDance does not sell the company within 6 months. President Biden has indicated he is willing to sign the bill (even though his re-election campaign has a TikTok account), but first the bill would have to pass the U.S. Senate. https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/tiktok-ban-bill-house-vote-03-13-24/index.html

  40. Intel Graphics DCH drivers 31.0.101.2115 and later include AcxHdAudio related files which require 1903 and above. Besides, the iGPU of CML does not use AcxHdAudio. So MSHdaDac.inf must be removed from iigd_dch.inf before installation. To pass HDCP test with Lindy DP 1.2 to HDMI with HDR active converter in PowerDVD 22, I have to set LG 27GL850-B to DisplayPort instead of HDMI before PowerDVD 22 completes HDCP test. Then I can watch UHD Blu-ray at 4K23Hz with HDR over the monitor's HDMI. When TrueTheater HDR works, 4K23Hz becomes 4K60Hz. In 1607, the iGPU of CML decodes HEVC by DX9 DXVA. My motherboard does not support Blu-ray audio content protection, so PowerDVD downsamples the audio to 16bit 48kHz.

  44. Well I've never used sync software but I have used backup software. Maybe Cobian Backup can suit your needs ? You can tell it to copy the files to a directory on another computer. If you don't compress it technically I think it will behave like syncing as it will just copy the files. You can set the time of backup. https://www.cobiansoft.com/cobianbackup.html

  45. Since MSFN’s membership is largely European, there is one thing that I should clarify: Do not jump to the conclusion that these government warnings about TikTok are having very much effect in the United States! I can hardly watch a talk show on TV without some celebrity mentioning their TikTok account! (It seems to me that Europeans take government warnings far more seriously than Americans do.) Anyway, it looks like TikTok is here to stay, for better or for worse (at least until the next fad comes along).
