  1. What about people who work for MSFN for free? Creating content for MSFN for free. Couple a days ago I gave a modded driver to a fella for free, so, in other words, probably also a good idea to start charging MSFN? Or charge the users that get our direct help?

  4. Hi again ; I can't see myself how that could've helped , because Fx-120.0 is incapable of running under NT 5.2 (Windows Server 2003 x86 ?); with the above UA, you're just "sticking out like a sore thumb" ; still, stranger things have happened in the world of IT... Also, if elektroda are adamant on supporting only the latest Mozilla Firefox version, pretty soon you'll have to spoof Fx-123.0 ... ... And you're most welcome ...

  5. Like you, I do agree that Adobe Flash Player, despite being closed-source, was a good technology for its time and served well XP/Vista users running the OS under era-correct H/W; it came embedded with patented decoders and worked quite well with most GPUs of the era... But it wasn't deprecated due to "Adobe's incompetence", nor was this related to just Google pushing their ways... FWIW, a localised version of Flash is still being used in mainland China, maintained by a Chinese Adobe affiliate... As Microsoft moved away from XP (and Vista) and introduced new media playback technologies inside the Windows OS itself (e.g. Windows Media Foundation, WMF, which matured in Win7), and with newer WinOSes requiring more "advanced" H/W (GPUs/CPUs/RAM) to run properly (but through which, higher-spec'ed, H/W native playback becomes "attractive"), browser vendors saw it proper to move away from NPAPI/PPAPI Flash into HTML5 native playback, inside the browser; Adobe Flash had been notorious for many serious vulnerabilities during its lifetime, so for many computer users the deprecation of Flash was a blessing in disguise... Google was not the only browser vendor in favour of the migration, in fact Apple had a bigger role in this ... I can understand, though, that the deprecation of Flash and the general move to HTML5 media playback has left XP users on older/under-resourced H/W at an impaired/handicapped state.... But when I talked about the "Googl-isation" of the web, I did not have the deprecation of Flash (and NPAPI in general) in mind; I meant the current trend of Google web devs constantly "devising" new "dialects" of the Javascript programming language and them, via their undisputed dominance on everything-web, leveraging these new JS iterations into the web standards; these, even when still at "draft" status, are pushed to the newer Google Chrome releases and, as a result, become also adopted by the web-frameworks that are part of most contemporary web sites; sites that, unlike the good times of the past, aren't just comprised of pure HTML pages, but are instead monstrous blobs of JS+CSS code that has to be downloaded and rendered locally by the browser engine, putting a heavy tax on your H/W... Thus, Google make sure that "the web" will break on other "legacy" web engines and also make sure that "the web" will underperform on your older H/W - IOW, "they" try their best to make your old "setup" practically no longer capable of any more use ... People who follow me here know that I'm not a coder/web developer, so it's possible some of my wording above was not well chosen; but I'm sure you all get the gist of it ...

  6. What about followers? This Twitter rudiment needs to be paid, too! 1 Pound per 1 follower. Extra followers will be sold with discounts, like one hundred for 80 Pounds. Charge only in British Pounds, who needs those cheap bucks?! I was silly enough to convert part of my Guldens to 30 thousands bucks in the 1990s, now I don't know what to do with them. The exchange rate is too bad. Besides, those after 2006 bucks are too colourful and ugly. Giving everyone my marvellous idea for free!

  8. You confuse opinions with facts from developers. It's not up for arguments when the information comes from developers themselves. That person @Sampei.Nihira simply can't support grown up people discussions, he insulted me many times. I explained to he super politely. What exactly is not polite in this explanation? Now he's simply furious and revengeful. https://msfn.org/board/topic/186019-protecting-chromium-traffic-with-hybrid-kyber-kem/?do=findComment&comment=1260148

  9. Personally I think we should actually get rid of the crap/fake posters/reposers/copy pasters. More specifically, I think we need to have some sort of approval before posting, he's just angry because I caught him several times with his misleading information and errors, but instead of saying thank you, he just insults and reports me. For example, it would be wise to have @jaclaz among the posts' inspection commission.

  10. I'm up for it with both hands! Finally, I'll downvote all of your erroneous, offensive posts, which are so many. I'll make sure to attach screenshots with proof, like I always do, all very honest, with articles, real expert analyses, all in a very polite form, all according to the forum rules. So yeah, I'd say - go for it! Just one example of proof. https://msfn.org/board/topic/185910-resuming-the-transition-to-manifest-v3/?do=findComment&comment=1255843 Just one example of how you tell people to "shut up". Will it get a downvote from me? You betcha. https://msfn.org/board/topic/186019-protecting-chromium-traffic-with-hybrid-kyber-kem/?do=findComment&comment=1260118

  12. I've only just started using Supermium, and while I think it's a miracle that a Chromium 121 based browser will run on XP, it's a long way from being a replacement for 360Chome for me as well. The GUI font on Supermium is rough, not unusable but ugly. It still has some stability problems, I find it crashes if I try to use the password manager, for instance. I hate the fact that it closes when you close the last tab. You can stop that with a simple setting in 360Chrome. Of course this can be achieved with an extension, I'm sure, but that's not the same! On my system, which is quite powerful, Supermium is slow to start, and quite slow in use. 360Chrome is much better, and I'm using 13.5.2036, which is probably not as well optimised as v13.5.1030 Redux is now. While it's good to have a fallback available if I run into a site which 360Chome no longer works properly with (there aren't many, but the number will inevitably increase, of course) I still wouln't use Supermium as my default browser yet.

  14. Thanks for the advice! No need (at least as of now), I live off my military pension, but it's quite enough (we have them high in France), I also have private contracts, but in that case it would be easier to just move to github then. Like win32 already did. Easy to add payment options, etc.

  15. Big recommendation for Teamspeak 2, if it's for voice chat between Windows PCs of all ages. Despite being super old, Teamspeak 2 works even on Windows 10, as well as good old Windows 98. The system requirements are ridiculously low. The codecs are ridiculously outdated (some of them convert your voice to mysterious art!), but they're efficent. Still many public servers are up and running and self-hosting is possible as well. What a nice software. Teamspeak 2 Download: http://teamspeak2.bplaced.net/neue_seite_3.htm

  16. @j7n Unfortuneatly there are some functions missing in Invidious, indeed. Maybe you could try another Invidious instance. They sometimes behave differently. Depends on their load, too. I've read somewhere that running an Invidious instance generates a lot of traffic on the server, where it is run. So sometimes the number of users is limited and videos don't load, because too many use the service. I've deleted my Youtube account, so I can't help you further. I'm just searching the video links on Invidious, and download them then as a whole on my hard drive, especially effective for long videos.

  17. Greetings ; what do you mean by "still" ? Was it working in UXP-based browsers and then stopped? How long ago was that? Have you already reported that breakage in the past and you now feel disgruntled the issue remains unresolved? Please be aware that UXP, as a platform, is not very good at supporting these so-called web (in-browser) editions of popular chat/messaging applications, which are usually optimised for recent Chromium-based browsers (or just for the browsers on your mobile device ) ... Such web-compat issues are usually for "upstream" (MCP) to address, but if one asks "there", the standard answer from "them" is: "Use the dedicated Windows application"; this is, of course, no consolation for XP/Vista users, because most of these apps now require at minimum Win7 (soon to be Win10 ?) ... Searching in the PMForums, someone there suggested using a "legacy" URI of the form: https://web.telegram.org/?legacy=1#/login , does it still work on you for log-in purposes? ... In my "dirty" St52 profile, all I get is a white/empty page inside a thin-lined black frame , much like what @mina7601 has already posted... It would appear the most important clue inside the Web Console simply eluded you ; the page deploys a script which performs browser-feature checks: https://web.telegram.org/a/compatTest.js UXP then fails those tests , because it doesn't, yet, support "Intl.DisplayNames", a JS feature which was first implemented in Fx-86/Ch-81: It just so happened that "upstream" (MCP) have opened a UXP issue for that just 6 days ago, but so far it hasn't received any activity ... A polyfill for that missing function already exists ; my JS-coding skills are non-existent , but I tried to make a userscript out of it (and inject it through Violentmonkey), problem being the script gets quite large when you add all the needed "locale.data" ... Another issue is that, during my tests, I discovered that for the userscript to work on "telegram.org", one has to globally disable CSP protection in the browser, which. in itself, is a security risk ... FWIW, with my basic "polyfill-as-userscript" and CSP (temporarily) disabled (security.csp.enable;false), the offending web page finally loads: I don't own a mobile device (yet anyway , by my government has other "plans" for its subordinates ), nor do I have an account with Telegram, so my experiments ended just there ... Kind regards.

  21. Thanks, but there are no restrictions set up in Group Policy. I've done many other installs which have had no problem, so why that particular one has an issue I have no idea. I did copy the files from the CD to the hard drive and run it from there as well as running from the CD directly, and the result was the same. IIRC there was some mention in the installer log that something wasn't signed, but usually if that's the case you get an option dialogue box to ignore that. Not in this case.

  22. @VistaLover Unfortunately, the change of Windows NT 10.0 to Windows NT 5.2 did not help and Secure... appeared again Changing the value to Chrome also does not help. When I have a Chrome setting and I delete cookies, I can enter the forum main page but when I try to log in, there is a Secure Connection Failed error If I remove the value general.useragent.override.elektroda.pl and cookies then always Secure Connection Failed appear but after restart browser possible enter to forum and log in and this only works for a moment about 3 clicks on the forum and Secure Connection... For now, the best option is UA: general.useragent.override.elektroda.pl Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.2; rv:120.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/120.0 There is no problem around one day or several hours.

  23. Fact: There's a handful of accounts that can't properly behave themselves with women. My opinion: I'm not sure if the downvote button will make them behave. There's got to be another form of punishment. I'm giving out a couple of examples. Their posts are quoted with my replies, they are known to edit posts out. https://msfn.org/board/topic/185045-supermium/?do=findComment&comment=1259796 https://msfn.org/board/topic/184249-chrome-110-based-opera-i-ported-it-to-vista/?do=findComment&comment=1260409 What do other users think, will "not like" help? I don't think so. I'm open to suggestions, opinions.

  25. @Andalu In your case, whatever issue(s) CHKDSK detected (and corrected when running with the /F parameter) seems to be "trifling" (they are not even listed, unlike the ones Dave-H got). They appear (at first sight) more like something (minor) different between XP and 10 versions of NTFS, in the case of Dave-H, which seem all related to cross-linked files/clusters. There is a "strange" KB/doc by Paragon: https://kb.paragon-software.com/article/1004 that essentially states that XP CHKDSK is more "rigid" than later OS version, maybe this is part of the issue. jaclaz

  26. Hi again. I find this new version an improvement. I mostly use mypal for social media stuff now, and it seems to be faster on MS, GM, FB, YH, LI, WU. I still can't login into webskype, but I know it's possible with less restrictive settings than mine. Interestingly, reddit loads now much much faster, I don't know if because changes in mypal or reddit. My settings have remained constant.

  31. From what I can tell , English is not the OP's mother tongue . Perform a simple search and you'll see that "duel" instead of dual is used by Indians. I can easily tell if someone is Dutch , German , English (British) , Italian , Swedish (by the looks and sometimes by the style of one's writing), but when it comes to Asians (Indians are Asians, right ? ) ... well this is not my strongest side. So don't judge if I'm wrong , but I think the guy from the "duel boot" video is Indian . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-m5KUeb_o0 Or here some "duels" too. https://noobsplanet.com/index.php?threads/duel-boot-triple-boot-or-quad-boot-with-hackintosh.11/ https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/gs0s1o/create_duelboot_windows_on_hackintosh_drive/ Though , it doesn't mean the OP is not from US , he may be Indian , but currently living in the States. Nowadays there are a lot of Indians in Canada , UK and US too.

  32. Word 97. Here we have it open a 30 MB, 90 page long document on a Windows 98 computer from 2000. Word 97 has many tripwires, but once these are mastered, it can be used as a layouting program for big projects. Downsizing images (to 256 colours for example) is a key to use it on slow computers. Even after 22 years of using Word 97, I still improve and find out new things. Oh, by the way, Word 97 can be installed on Windows 10, too!

  33. @Mr.Scienceman2000 Maybe you could have a look at an Invidious instance (https://instances.invidio.us/) to watch Youtube videos. It allows you to watch Youtube videos but in a much more efficent way. It's like a real-time third-party hosted Youtube video index. The videos itself are loaded from Google servers, but what makes Youtube.com a bloated website nowadays is missing. Horray!

  34. I think there is more to the old operating systems than just internet. These machines are resources of creativity with the tools, that run on them. Writing programs, graphic programs, music programs, programming tools... even if there would be no internet at all, the old computers are capable of plenty of things. I can work best with the tools that I know best, which are the old tools. Okay, the resolution may not be the highest. But as long as the hardware runs (whose spare parts cost 0 money on the scrapyard)... it would be an uneconomic choice to switch. Consider the time you need to learn new programs! Speaking of Linux? Fantastic for modern internet browsing, but not if you need special tools. Sometimes, the Linux counterparts are poorly designed, too. LibreOffice will never perform as good as Word 97. In fact it performs worse every year! On limited hardware we have to add. My decision is set in stone. Windows XP until repairing the hardware gets expensive. On to the future with Windows XP!
