I really grew tired of non-sense, so for the first time in decades I decided to ignore some forum participants. For the rest: I assumed Ucyborg is using the OS in his picture (w10), apologies for assuming so, if it was not the case. Once again, I'm no expert, nor do I have access to multiple hardware: I transparently report on what I have (windowswise), and what I can do with my system (which is representative of only myself). The system I use has two (10 years ago) mid range quadro GPUs, perhaps other GPUs allow for later drivers. In my system, finally, after including supermium in nvidiainspectorprofile (with settings I use in my other browsers), the font ugliness I (also) commented about before is gone, so I reported in case it may be of use to anybody else. To be honest, I never noticed any special brightness in Supermium, and feel real sorry for those who are so vocally incapable of solving that issue. I wish them well.4 points

Some interesting insights regarding memory leaks and CPU usages spikes. It's a recurring topic and it appears it will stay that way unless something changes radically, either the web at large or the web browser.4 points

I dunno - doesn't sound consistent to me. I think you are trying to dictate terms here, and I don't see "Admin" by your name. The difference in versions of Chromium (360 vs Supermium) is neither here nor there. You and your pack are the only ones making a huge deal of this. No one that has been here for any significant amount of time has any problems with the "issues" you have with our comparisons. I think we'll all just go on and post how we want. Anyway, it was noted that Dibya started this thread any way, not Win32. So let's agree to co-exist cordially, shall we?4 points
-
Why would comparing it to something of relatively close versions be off-topic? Win32 declared officially, he started following the Ungoogled path. It's not when someone compares it to Firefox or 360.4 points

Will it work like in this case, then? That is what I meant. Will the italics written dot be accepted? Will such script be executed without troubles? On the other hand, I know, the formatting will be lost, but what if someone doesn't use the simple Windows notepad? https://superuser.com/questions/180475/add-option-to-boot-ini-with-batch4 points
-
I'm sorry, I'm confused, let's say someone copies this fake boot with italics, and it will work? I mean, will it be recognised as an extension? Please explain.4 points

Very questionable, someone can copy paste and try to execute.4 points

... Yeah, as a heavy GitHub user in St52, I often get the symptoms the OP there reported ; MS have recently turned GH into an even more "massive beast" , now serving huge ReactJS code that has to be rendered client-side, causing exacerbated sluggishness and more frequent need to just restart the browser - things do get worse when media-rich content (bloated social media portals like FB/IG/X/YT/etc.) are being visited alongside GH ; I mean, how often during one's workflow does one have to restart it? If it's less than every two hours or so, the browser becomes unfit for its purpose ... ... Despite what MCP may think, the "web at large" won't change towards a direction "they" would've hoped... The dominant web engine(s) has supported e10s for many years now, as a consequence ALL the web frameworks used blindly by web authors to build pages (or, rather, webAPPs) have that support as a prerequisite; despite ALL the talk about increased security inherent in a single-process browser (their main argument for staying SP), which I won't argue with by the way, such concerns are non-existent to web designers, who quickly put up something that would work fast/as expected with recent Chromium/Firefox implementations on mobile (their first priority now, I'd say ) and with Win10/11 on desktop... ... I wouldn't bet any serious money on that likelihood - because of UXP's many current shortcomings on GitHub, since the start of the year I find myself more on Chromium 86/87 forks for that (and will likely move on to the recently surfaced, Vista-x86-compatible, "higher Chromium" varieties (115/119/121) whenever GH breaks considerably on 86/87) ...3 points

While 5W is perfectly fine for standby, 21W on the high load 12v rail seems too low to test a 1200W PSU, especially considering the fact the modern ones have 12v single rail.3 points

No problem! But my post already contained the sceenshot as it is when it went live the first time as far as I can remember correctly at least. Or am I a bit dement due to my age? Or maybe, you just overlooked it. Anyway! It's not the world either as we say here in Germany.3 points

Right, unfortunately, looks like you still don't know. In fact, it's very consistent. If you took your time to read on-topic posts, you'd see - the our "pack", the pack of on-topic, polite people, like 66cats, for example, already explained in technical terms. https://msfn.org/board/topic/185045-supermium/?do=findComment&comment=1259864 Edit: Is there anything you could contribute to the discussion in technical matters/terms, apart from investigating/claiming "whose" this thread is? Thank you.1 point

Hi Qtranslate is back in function with improvements following its abandonment by its designer. works very well under XP qTranslate Community edition dated December 9, 2023 Differences from the official version: * The official portable version of qTranslate 6.9.0 is taken as a basis (according to reviews it works more stable than 6.10.0); * The Google Translator script is taken from the newer version 6.10.0; * The Google Dictionary script (technically, it was always just a search engine) is taken from the newer version 6.10.0; * Fixed Yandex, Bing (Microsoft Translator), DeepL, Urban Dictionary; * Added ChatGPT (configured to work as a translator). Powered by GPT-3.5-turbo-0613; * Reverso has been added as a translator (previously it worked only as a dictionary). The author of the patch seems to be Zloy_Gelud; * Added translators: Translatero (thanks DimitarSerg), Amazon, ModernMT and LibreTranslate; * Added dictionaries: wiktionary, dic.academic.ru (explanatory), translate.academic.ru (transferable); * DeepL icon change; * Deleted (didn't work anyway): Promt, youdao, Baidu, Papago; * It uses its own exeshnik (thanks to DimitarSerg). Comments and suggestions can be left here: https://forum.ru-board.com/topic.cgi?forum=5&topic=50987 Qtranslate download1 point

:OT A magnifying glass can be interpreted as an important instrument of a famous person who is permanently looking for tracks and hints. Everyone knows him: The magnifying glass has been directly linked to the search function in Windows since the early days of this operating system. Everything, for example, is a very fast desktop search and my favourite tool for finding strings within directories and files very quickly And what is the standard icon for this tool? For me, the magnifying glass and the search are interwoven like a pot and a lid. :END OF OT1 point

The website is based on the Wikipedia article from Jul 22nd, 2017. Which they declare themselves. https://whotracks.me/blog/fingerprinting.html The information is obsolete by almost a decade. Not to mention, it's really hard to call Wikipedia an expert on fingerprinting, to begin with. Collected data on fingerprinting goes as low as 2010! I'd like to see something far more recent.1 point

I can be mistaken, but that requirement is related to DXVA1, that old version will still open up and work on SP2, but no acceleration will be available, so on that Celeron max 360p, 480p at best. On such old hardware no acceleration is possible anyways, like in my case with the ancient Intel Extreme Graphics on Toshiba.1 point

I don't know what the exact system requirements of MPC-HC 2.1.2.18 are with regard to Windows XP, but many programmes require Service Pack SP3 to be installed if they are compatible with XP at all. Thus, stucking at SP2 doesn't really make much sense and is not really a good idea, IMHO.1 point

... Did you remember to also toggle "dom.getRootNode.enabled" to "true"? These prefs are actually a "wedded couple", so to speak - if one is set to true, the other has to be set to true, too - and vice versa ... That's why I provided a screenshot in my post above. Didn't you see my preference settings in the extra window? The image actually speaks for itself. Additionally, I had inserted red arrows. Since we have discussed here the settings of dom.webcomponents.enabled and dom.getRootNode.enabled, I do control them that way. If both are set to false, the lamp goes on. If both are set to true, the lamp goes off. The lamp is in the toolbar to the right of my red CSP button. Don't let the many buttons confuse you! My browser configuration is very special and also a little more complex than usual. Here is my screenshot once again: I've already tested it again. Now both, Web Components and Palefill enabled, are working on VirusTotal. Very strange! Anyway! Thanks for summing up all essential facts! You know I read this thread as attentively as possible. And your posts in particular! And @roytam1's and @UCyborg's ones, too, of course!1 point

I have just tested VirusTotal in my New Moon 28 (2023-03-24) with dom.webcomponents.enabled set to true. But It only works properly if Palefill is disabled. If not, the homepage renders correctly but a file can't be uploaded. I thought Web Components and Palefill would not harm each other, but reality speaks a different language. Or was it just a coincidence? I'll have to check that the next days. If you're looking for problems, just turn on your computer!1 point

this function seems to be broken for a quite long time Was actually a total coincidence that I came across this issue. I had to create a new profile to check the other issue with the search engines. In the process, I also wanted to reconfigure the toolbars and suddenly the crash. Can this be fixed?1 point

EXE install_wim_tweak.exe install_wim_tweak_NET4.6.exe SOURCE win6x_registry_tweak_src_v1.4.7.zip ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before i start i have to say that this tool was originally released by wnuku and that i have just updated it with extra features, colours and bug fixes. The original concept was by Aviv00. This little tool un-hides "packages" like Windows Media Center/Player, IE, IIS, Games, etc... so you can lower the size of your install.wim Top left is un-hiding a specific package, top right is writing the log of available files to a txt file, bottom left is un-hiding all components of an image and finally the bottom right is un-hiding all the packages from current installed OS. install_wim_tweak.exe /? This will show all available options.. install_wim_tweak.exe /p <MountPath> This will unhide all the packages in the selected image install_wim_tweak.exe /o This will unhide all the packages on the currently installed OS install_wim_tweak.exe /p <MountPath> /l This will list all the packages available in the selected image and write them to a text file in the same directory. install_wim_tweak.exe /o /l This will list all the packages available on the installed OS and write them to a text file in the same directory. install_wim_tweaks.exe /p <MountPath> /c Microsoft-Windows-......... This will just inhide the selected component from the selected image, can also be used with /o. If you add /r at the end it will remove the package. Changes made from the original version by wnuku */h will restore them to default (must use without /h first) */n will not create backups (faster) */d will not delete owners keys. */m is no longer needed, will do the task by default */l will output a list of all packages to a text file. */o will use currently installed image. *fixed a bug where it did not work if there was a space in the mountpath. */c <PackageName> will un-hide specific package * using /r with /c will remove the package *Win32Security.dll file is no longer needed *Added new colours, errors are displayed in Red *Fixed bug crashing at end of running *Fixed bug where it cannot unmount registry if something fails *Added specific component selection *Fixed some other bugs *Added an appropriate small icon for the app Also normally you will have to put the specific component name i.e. "/c Microsoft-Hyper-V-Common-Drivers-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.7601.17514" but if for example you put "/c Microsoft-Hyper-V-Common-Drivers-Package" it will show all packages starting with that. F.A.Q If you have any questions let me know...1 point

I followed your links and downloaded the Custom Buttons extension. Its install.rdf file tops out at Firefox 48, so to install it in either Serpent version, you need to modify that, since Serpent uses the Firefox app ID. I changed it to 55.* and it installed OK in St 55. I'm presuming the same change will let it install in St 52 as well; I'll test that later if I get some time. The only odd thing I found was that I had to restart Serpent 55 twice before it was ready to go. Next, I went to that link, but this is all I saw: So yes, it appears you've created the necessary custom button, but there's no code, no link, nothing to test in Custom Buttons at that post. Anyway, it's no big deal. I was only "asking for a friend," but can't remember who, because the original question was from My Browser Builds part 3, and now that that thread has been closed, the board doesn't let you quote from it as easily (no "Quote" prompt shows up when selecting text) so I just copied it and pasted into a quote block. Hello, @Mathwiz! I have posted my custom button "Toggle CSP" at last. Here is the link to my post: Furthermore and especially for you, I have made a second custom button "Toggle media.autoplay.enabled" including a change of the button images. Here is the link to this post: Kind regards, AstroSkipper PS: Additionally, I was able to install the legacy extension Custom Buttons and my custom button Toggle CSP in Mypal 68, too. Both are fully functional and working fine in Mypal 68. At the moment, I am in the process of testing that more closely. Here is the dedicated post:1 point
