  2. Just a reminder! This thread is about security programmes targeting Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit). Reporting testing results targeting other operation systems should be done in the corresponding threads. Otherwise, this would only lead to misunderstandings and confusion here in this thread. Nevertheless, I do state the full system requirements for every programme I write an article about here. However, that does not mean that experiences with other operating systems should be posted here in this thread. Only what relates to Windows XP is relevant here. Therefore, I welcome any experiences related to security programmes under the operating system we are exclusively talking about in this thread. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  4. Wow .. so great to see you, you've always been so nice to me and I appreciate that. Just that fact the you posted here in my little old thread means more to me than you realize and no worries about trying to help me, I'm WAY beyond help. Ha! I hope you are doing well yourself and you do fine at understanding emotions and as far as what the future brings, who knows, I do want to fell better but I'm not seeking happiness rather solace and to be able to not be filled with regret(s) going forward. Thank you so much and have a nice holiday and happy new year if we don't talk sooner.

  5. Now you are insinuating that I cannot comprehend English, further implying that I am either (a) stupid or (b) Russian (I’m really tired of the latter insinuation). I am neither, and I understood your earlier insinuation perfectly: In your opinion, I shouldn’t be posting here at all because I am not currently running Windows Vista. For your further information, I never ran Vista x64. The broken-down Vista hardware that I used for 12 years was an x86 system. I’m thinking about refurbishing it after hearing the good news about Supermium - something I would never do merely to gain the approval of hostile accounts here at MSFN. I certainly do not blame Win32 for spending very little time at this forum! As we know, Supermium won’t make much of a splash here unless it supports Windows XP, has a portable version, an “ungoogled” version, etc. Meanwhile, people running “vanilla” Vista x86 as well as x64 are reporting success with Supermium at other forums. Have a nice day!

  6. Just wanted to let you know I left you a posting and reply to your hello on my profile on the XP forum so please check and I do miss you here and hope you decide to return, but if not, I understand and I hope you and your family have nice holiday season and happy new year in advance. Sincerely Yours Sal ps: just wanted to let you know I'm also hoping you @sunryze will decide to return here and we miss you very much, but, same, if not, only wishing you the very best in life and a happiness to you and thank you for that heartfelt posting in the cafe - I read if more than 1 time and I hope it helped you to open up because those 2 shoulders weren't designed to carry the weight of the world alone, but YOU have the strength to carry on forward even in the face of hostility that is this society we live in filled with people that can't accept anything different and people will try to put you in a box and put a label on you; while labels are important on paper, they don't define you. Don't forget people need a boogie-man and anyone that doesn't fit the typical (I consider myself to be atypical and I'm not ashamed to admit that - nothing wrong with it IMO) just always be TRUE and genuine ... at least to yourself don't worry about other people too much anymore as I've gotten older I've learnt to care much less what people think of me and save more of that focus on improving my own well-being in my own little bubble. Am I promoting isolation and becoming a loner, NO, I'm not at all, in fact I do sincerely hope at some point (don't rush it) you will find people you can relate to and people you will enjoy spending time around and I think, and if you are not afraid to be yourself (which you aren't at all) you'll attract like-minded folks that are nonjudgmental and open minded because I (truly) feel sorry for closed minded people that are rigid and nasty, can you imagine going through life that way? Of course you can't and you wouldn't want to. I struggle myself which is why I chose my words carefully to not come across as a hypocrite. Again, no rush to reply or need to reply at all but I do you at some point get a chance to read this and get something positive from it because I mean well, but I admit I don't always get it right because I'm a flawed human just trying to make it through life myself and I've designed what works best for me and sometimes that is to stand back and just observer the absurdity of some social interactions that I witness and the way(s) people need to put on a fake persona to gain acceptance. Sure we would love a world of acceptance but that is a fantasy and expecting this is a setup for disappointment because look what has happened and still happening politically already and sorry to say this but I don't see things getting better anytime soon so make the best of it and protect yourself and only let your guard down when you feel doing so won't put you in a vulnerable position. Be well, friend and never fear, You've come a long way since your started here and I know there are good things up ahead for you. Take good care. EDIT: Sorry guys about the multiple edits trying to make some kind of sense (not easy this morning) for a change HAHA

  7. Normal. So does Ungoogled Chromium, so does Serpent 52, those were the only two I tried before leaving the house. If you don't want stuff happening in the background, and forgive the Captain Obvious statement, then you must NOT keep things open in the background. It's that simple. When you are not "using" a program, CLOSE IT.

The russian language understandable for many countries of the former USSR (for example, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Georgia, Latvia ....). Russian language is not Russia, analogy english is not England He also has mistakes in the Russian text (mostly there are not enough letters in words), or he gains the text to the smartphone, or lazy to correct More often writes at the github or on the russian-speaking forum http://forum.ru-board.com/topic.cgi?forum=2&topic=5894&start=3200 Sse version of the MyPal will appear soon

After the recent changes to the search engines in the last versions of Mypal, @feodor2 seems not to have removed some obsolete entries regarding Bing, Wikipedia and stp (Startpage) from his code which lead to errors in the Browser Console. 21. And since my time is also limited, and I cannot test every programme in depth, I would be very pleased if as many Windows XP users as possible would install the programmes presented here, even if only for testing purposes, and report on their experiences. This is valuable information and will help others to decide how to organise their protection under this old operating system. This thread also needs regular information about the current status of all programmes presented here so that the lists from the posts #2, #3 and #4 are always as up-to-date as possible. Thanks in advance!

  29. I use Mypal 68 regularly and have not noticed any unusual behaviour so far. If you want to be on the safe side, use a network sniffer to identify and analyse all incoming and outgoing connections of a browser. And it doesn't matter whether it is Mypal 68 or this Chrome 115 which is actually the topic here. However, this strange behaviour was already observed when using certain versions of Chrome browsers. Any problems observed in terms of Mypal 68 should be then posted in a corresponding thread, of course.

  43. My essential tools for solving problems in Windows XP — Part 1 — WU/MU tools WinUpdatesList: WinUpdatesList is a tool from NirSoft and displays the list of all Windows updates (Service Packs and Hotfixes) installed on your local computer. For hotfix updates, this utility also displays the list of files updated with these hotfixes. In addition, it allows you to instantly open the provided link to its Microsoft website, but you have to use in most cases the Wayback Machine nowadays. It provides more information about the selected update, uninstall an update, copy the update information to the clipboard, or save it to text/HTML/XML file. The latest and presumably last version is 1.33. Language files are available too. WinUpdatesView can load the Windows updates history from your local system, using API, and it can also read and parse the Windows updates database file (DataStore.edb) from external drive or from remote computer on your network. For every Windows update history record, WinUpdatesView displays the following fields: Title, Description, Install Date, Update Operation (Install, Uninstall, Not Started, In Progress), Operation Result (Succeeded, Succeeded With Errors, Failed, Aborted), Category, Information URL, Support URL, Uninstall Notes, Client Application ID, Service ID, Update ID, Revision Number, Unmapped Result Code, Server Selection, hResult. WUMT can be used offline either. The version from 20.12.2016 is the last working in Windows XP. Link: https://retrosystemsrevival.blogspot.com/2021/12/windows-update-minitool-20122016.html Additionally, you need a file from Microsoft called wsusscn2.cab, dated from 09.12.2019, to use WUMT offline.
