... Well, just for the heck of it , this afternoon I decided to revisit, more than a year ago since the last time, e10s on my St52 copy, putting to the test the most up-to-date release, i.e. v52.9.0 (2023-03-30) (32-bit) ... First, I made a full backup of my current, single-process, St52 profile; then, in about:config, I enabled below (hidden) pref: browser.tabs.remote.force-enable;true and toggled/modified prefs below: browser.tabs.remote.autostart;true extensions.e10sBlocksEnabling;false dom.ipc.processCount;2 After a proper browser restart, multiprocess was ON, with a maximum of 3 "basilisk.exe" processes inside Task Manager ; I used it that way for more than an hour, no dramatic changes in my configuration here (3GB of total RAM, 2 core CPU, 2007-era...), the browser was rock-steady overall ; but then I stumbled on a show stopper ; once inside an online post editor, like the one here on MSFN (I'm typing this on) or GitHub's issue/comment editor, the DEL and BACKSPACE keyboard buttons no longer work as expected there ... Say I type the word "test", and the caret (aka text cursor) is after the last "t": test| If I press BACKSPACE once, nothing happens; I would expect "t" to be deleted instead... Worse, if I press (inadvertently) the BACKSPACE button once more, the whole tab changes to the URL previously visited (in that tab), possibly resulting in typed content loss in the editor ... If I use the left arrow key (<-) to place the caret after "s": tes|t and then press the DEL button, again, nothing happens; I would expect "t" to be deleted instead, too... Both these annoyances can be worked-around via selecting the characters to delete with the mouse and pressing DEL button, but one has to be careful with the BACKSPACE button, plus one has to modify one's workflow (of years) to accommodate these e10s "bugs"... Are these shortcomings known to those that prefer multiprocess? Can they be mitigated? I've gone back to my single-process profile now, where both buttons in question behave as expected, still curious though ...2 points

Ah, good call...thanks for being so cool about it! I probably couldn't add much to the discussion, except to drunkenly type "WOO! CLAMAV IS THE BEST!" and scream like a banshee while waving my shirt in the air. It is nice to know there are specific threads for things like this...that makes it a lot easier to find what you're looking for, rather than combing through pages and pages and getting nowhere.2 points

You might want to read this thread on AIMP Forum. ... Thanks, I can't read Russian , so I used: https://www-aimp-ru.translate.goog/forum/index.php?topic=69488&_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=el&_x_tr_pto=wapp Having read the translation, I did not find answers as to why Vista SP2 support has been reinstated (but I'm not complaining, obviously ); the thread basically talks about AIMP-v5.x's inability to integrate with the OS under WinXP (i.e., establish 1) media file associations and 2) access to Windows Explorer's Context Menu ); and I was also reminded of XP's excellent file association editor, one thing I strongly lamented when I moved to Vista (on Vista+, it's quite a PITA to remove/delete already established file associations; I had to resort to a third party app ...).2 points

Hmm.... Can we finally hope for a chance now that ECMAScript related Pale Moon "villains" are able to be implemented a bit more easier in the future? https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProductions/UXP/issues/2173 - JS: Parser frontend overhaul https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProductions/UXP/pulls/2189 Seems also someone wants to give a second try towards this "villain" here: https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProductions/UXP/issues/1691 - Dynamic Module impport2 points

... I acknowledge this thread has a broader focus on "Software Running on XP", so it's still fine by me , however, since the last two posts seem to pertain specifically to Anti-Virus software (and in particular to ClamAV), perhaps further discussion on these should be better continued in "our" specific thread below: https://msfn.org/board/topic/177099-which-antiviruses-are-known-for-a-fact-to-be-working-on-xp-sp3-as-of-2019/ ... where I believe ClamAV was also recently mentioned ... Just my 2c, ofc ...2 points

The download page still says Windows Vista - Windows 11 for current version 5.11.2427. Is that an error? Missing APIs? If you navigate to AIMP's Old versions page for Windows, you'll hopefully see that Vista SP2 support was withdrawn, starting with v5.01.2358 (Release date: 28.12.2021), so @WinClient5270 was right to pick out v5.00.2344 (Release date: 09.11.2021) as the Vista EoS one ; however, in a move quite rare these days, Vista SP2 support was re-instated, starting with v5.10.2418 (Release date: 21.12.2022) ...2 points

Yes, version 68.0.2.0 still works fine, although annoying notifications are shown when clicking on the taskbar icon.2 points

It was done for compatibility with Linux, well, technically, WINE on Linux, pre-Windows 7 compatibility was not the goal, just the side effect. One post in the linked thread from my previous post was quoted here. I know not everyone understands Russian, I just posted the link to the source material, people may use whatever they want to translate.1 point

Looks like XP and Vista were mentioned in the changelog for 5.10.2408 Beta 2. I see, didn't check before. You might want to read this thread on AIMP Forum.1 point

I will presume that any current version of CurseForge/Overwolf does not work on Win7, but Win7 versions still exist. And fortunately, Curse/Twitch went the good route of not forcing an upgrade to an unsupported version. So if you had CurseForge installed prior to whenever their Win10 update came about, you can still use it but throws a generic error and says to update to Win10. However, over the past two weeks, something on their or Microsoft's backend changed which caused the inability to download anything new from the launcher. It also caused the issue where if you repaired your installation, it would "uninstall" (removed the links) to any games you had on the dashboard and all instances. For example, all instances of Minecraft would be removed from the launcher but not from the computer. A repair install would attempt to redownload the MS launcher but fail with an error "Failed to download the Minecraft launcher due to a network error." This error is in their known issues page: https://support.curseforge.com/en/support/solutions/articles/9000196615-known-issues#Minecraft-▾ With the "resolution" being: If, when you get this error in CurseForge, and also there is a log under System in Event Viewer for an Schannel Error 70, then the solution is to enable TLS 1.1 and 1.2 in WinHTTP and on the Component Level as described here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-default-secure-protocols-in-winhttp-in-windows-c4bd73d2-31d7-761e-0178-11268bb10392 After doing this, I no longer get the Schannel errors in Event Viewer and also am able to not only repair the Minecraft installation, but also install new packs. Tested up to whatever verion of 1.16 that Vault Hunters 3 uses.1 point

There are a few things to consider, but it should be possible. UEFI-only installation : Use bootloader from FlashBoot Pro or ESU update + graphic driver integration. NTOSKRNL_EMU : It will allow you to use backported generic USB 3.0, touchpad, and eMMC driver. You may have to backport other drivers by yourself.1 point

The latest version of Panda Antivirus works on XP (somewhat, it's a bit buggy sometimes). I should mention that when I tested it I got a lot of false positives. I can't really say I'd recommend it. ClamAV supports anything from W95 and up I believe, although there's no automatic scanning. You would have to scan things manually with it.1 point

Thanks, yeah it had to be said, I'm tired of that trio of users saying hi to each other every day and then placing each other upvotes for their ego-boost, it looks very silly and spammy ! I used the Italian antivirus on my girfriend. She is my testing grounds. The amount of time it was used is very short. but I can say it's very light-weight, I know for sure because she runs on a very cheap Pentium CPU I bought for her on sale for 45 Euros in 2017. Pentium G(smth) - Kaby lake with fake cores. The one they use in office machines only.1 point

Dear @AstroSkipper, why did you ignore this question? I asked it to ensure if I understood correctly what you said or not. Please respond. Thank you. That comment was actually not meant for you. And a member here will probably decide for himself whether certain contributions require a statement or not. BTW, I never try to say anything, but I say it as clearly as possible, in most cases even crystal clearly. Regarding your reply I didn't say it doesn't matter to me generally, but in most cases it doesn't matter completely to the companies where I am or was a customer. And that has already been the case for a long time, unfortunately. It used to be different, but you can't understand that because of your age. Apart from that, this is all completely off-topic again. We want to move on here. Content that would serve the topic here would be much more important and appreciated.1 point

Yep, did the same, took some time off, got back today, and these users who write spammy-style "how do you do, me too" nonsense are still here, unfortunately ! But hey, on the bright side, didn't you see the Italian-made antivirus @jaclaz found for me ?1 point

Excuse me, could you tell me what is the latest version compatible with XP? I understand the latest one is "PotPlayerSetup-210209.exe" downloaded from "videohelp.com" or is there a newer one. Hello @Iron_Wind0ws! The last XP-compatible version of PotPlayer or PotPlayer Portable is 1.7.21419.0 (210209). There is no newer one. Windows XP seems to have been abandoned by Daum.
