  2. Not necessarily. There are some weather sites that have radar and maps that require WebGL, which I disable by default in my releases. So yes, weather questions are allowed as some users may not know how to enable WebGL.

  6. Ok! So if users can't get the current weather forecast in 360 Chrome and don't know how to get these sites to work in this browser, do not hesitate to ask our weatherman @NotHereToPlayGames. He will get the necessary information for you.

  8. Doesn't that make you afraid of drowning instead of afraid of water? When a waitress walks around with a pitcher of ice water to refill your glass, do you hide under the table and tremble in fear? waka waka waka Kind of like not being agraid of heights but being afraid of falling and hitting the pavement. If I had half a million lying around, sure, I'd go for it.

  10. Can happen. That day has not come for me either few more years I'd be surprised if the hardware is still going. If I were to get something new (to me) I'd be willing to stick with windows and try 11 but would need to make sure I wasn't giving away too much, although, don't know what that means to me and I, I don't know, not much to get or give away, I'm an 'open book'.

  14. We're getting way offtopic here, but I want to mention that I can't get that last version of MPV working properly on my XP , which is in a virtual machine. I only get sound, but no window with video... I use a symbolic link for that, so that I don't need to rename each time. Can be done on XP with Link Shell Extension. See at the bottom of that page for Legacy XP download. Needs a driver as well. Could you try this one?

  15. No, you're right... Ignore the size difference, that just has to do with how I did it, but looking at the actual font, they are exactly the same with or without it checked. So I'll leave it checked for Chrome.

  16. Did you try the XP Display Setting of Standard for font-smoothing? That's pretty much the only fix I am seeing aside from resorting to case-by-case Stylus sheets.

  17. I've picked up an HP Slim Desktop Celeron G5900 as a refurbed unit. It has 4gb and Windows-10 home 64 bit. I was wondering if there are any RAM limits for W-10 home (ie maybe it's limited to 4 gb?) otherwise I was thinking of throwing another 4 gb ram into it (I'm guessing it would help performance?). I'm somewhat new to win-10, but I see if I'm going to migrate some PC's from 7 to 10 I'm going to have to dig into this a bit. One of the things I'm not liking is when you go through the initial power-on phase of a system with pre-installed win-10 is that it wants you to have a microsoft account (instead of a local account) and there doesn't seem to be a way to bypass that. Beyond that, has anyone come up with a single "god-mode" or "power-user" package that will make all the mods that you'll eventually stumble on doing over time as you hammer and mold a stock/retail win-10 installtion into something more useful for a power user? Like taking ownership of the /etc folder so you can control the hosts file? Turning off all crap services, uninstalling all the stuff you won't use (or will refuse to use on principle) like office 360, onedrive, etc?

  19. I've not seen any forum that has an actual block option the way most people seem to be thinking about it. The best member-relation options I have ever seen were actually on old battle.net where your options were mute (don't see their posts) and squelch (they don't see your posts). Forum ignore basically will "hide" a post from a user that is on your list, but you should still see that they have posted. Some forum ignore can prevent a person from sending you a PM, or writing on your profile, if such a thing exists. Unfortunately, forum staff can't really test the ignore function outside of impersonation, since we aren't allowed to block anyone and no one is allowed to block us but I think that is automatically handled by the forum.

  23. That being the case (chrome was not meant for NT5.1) I've not had this BSOD with 360 V11 or 13 or 13.5. Not ever because I don't use hardware acceleration (gpu / wasm / webgl), this computer is way past its prime and the other Dell Dimension 3000 is not even usable at all with anything anymore unless I'm in no hurry. I'm just grateful it is still working at all and I don't want new things ... including my clothing as I prefer used goodwill clothing and shoes that have already been 'broken in'.

  25. The only BSODs I have had were caused by the 360Chrome browsers in conjunction with WiseVector StopX. Otherwise, I haven't had a single BSOD in years. Nevertheless, I am not at all surprised that most comments about BSODs in MSFN are found in connection with Windows XP which is the most modified and patched OS ever, full of ported and forked software. Just think of all existing system patches, the experiments with the ACPI.sys file, modified drivers and so on. Anyway! I used the 360Chrome browsers with rebased chrome.dll intensively the last weeks, without any further BSODs in my system. But one thing is crystal clear. The 360Chrome Browsers v13.5 have a Chromium engine 86 which was actually never meant to run on Windows XP. Therefore, BSODs do not really surprise me.

  26. I think same as first release of SP2 x64 Small updates of ntoskrnl.exe doesn't change .h fields Fields usual changed between sevice packs, so almost files recompiled because kernel offset changes W2003 x64 rtm headers from leak are too old, we need WRK() as base and additional patches to match SP2 kernel I suprised why WRK is not same as SP2, official description: p.s. WRK is 2003 SP1 sources

Please consider this my last post in this thread. I kindly request that our new thread be dedicated to v13.5 build 2022. References to anything outside of v13.5 build 2022 should be considered as "off-topic". (ie, members wanting a v11 thread, for example, should kindly start their own thread.) Citing any web page that "does not work" and also does not work in Official Chrome v86 should also be considered as "off-topic". Please do not view this as "micro-managing", but rather as a CLEAN NEW START - I invite any-and-all to join me in our new thread.

  37. Instructions to restore "Translate to English" context menu feature. Note that this works for both the "ungoogled" and the "regular" versions. Obtain HxD Hex Editor from here - https://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD20 Copy 360Chrome's chrome.dll from the base "ungoogled" version to a temporary folder and open in HxD. Perform a REPLACE (Ctrl+R) and enter ttps://translate........... (there are 11 dots) in the "Search for:" field and enter ttps://translate.googleapis in the "Replace with:" field. Note the h in https is intentionally skipped so that the instructions do not get mangled by forum reply box or by web browser viewing. Make sure that "All" is selected for "Search direction" and that "Text encoding" is set to "(Editor encoding)". Also make sure that "Case sensitive" is not selected. Click the "Replace all" button. TWO occurrences should be replaced. Save chrome.dll and replace in 360Chrome's folder while 360Chrome is not running.

  38. Instructions to convert "ungoogled" to "regular". Note that this is not required to restore the "Translate to English" context menu feature (next post). Obtain and extract chrome-pak-customizer. https://github.com/myfreeer/chrome-pak-customizer/releases/download/2.0/chrome-pak.7z Copy 360Chrome's resources.pak file to a temporary folder. The easiest way to use chrome-pak-customizer is to have two File Manager windows open and use drag-and-drop. Drag-and-drop the resources.pak file and drop it onto unpack.bat. This will create a folder named resources_unpacked. Inside the resources_unpacked folder, open 155.json using Notepad++ or similar (I do not suggest Window's regular Notepad because carriage-returns/new-line-characters will not drop to a new line). I personally prefer a version called 5.8.6 Minimalist but any Notepad++ or similar will do. Edit the two 9oo9le entries to google to restore Chrome Web Store functionality but note that this enables a persistent Google cookie that will never delete and is shared across all browser sessions. Save the edited 155.json. After editing and saving 155.json, locate the pak_index.ini file from inside the same resources_unpacked folder and drag-and-drop onto pack.bat. This will create a file inside resources_unpacked folder called pak_index_packed.pak. RENAME pak_index_packed.pak to resources.pak and REPLACE 360Chrome's resources.pak (while 360Chrome is not running).

  39. The excessive use of words like "evil", "crap", "god", et cetera is extremely nagative and toxic to the environment, in my humble opinion. I intentionally "404'd" all download links about a week ago or so (and is also why I have not uploaded my most recent resources.pak and options.zip). The negativity had/has me seriously pondering my future here at MSFN - again, this started as a project for ME to solve MY needs at the time, it was not to set out and be the next roytam1. There is a need for this project to continue. We are all intelligent and knowledgeable and assist at times we have the time to do so - but do our "positive" days act as a balance to offset our "negative" days? No, not in my opinion! You only get one chance to make a first impression. No amount of "positive" any of us ever does should be in the back of the mind of any moderator thinking "ignore the negative, s/he posts positives also". We have a lot of "alpha dogs" here and they (sometimes even me) think the world revolves around said "alpha dogs" and their topics and posts. I do not have any answer on how to resolve said "atmosphere". Most here just add the "negative" posters to their "ignore list" (and moderators even suggest this approach). Okay, "having said that" and being generally "solutions-oriented", I am hereby abandoning this thread. roytam1 has the "power" to request his threads be locked and I would request the very same for this thread - please lock this thread. v11, v12, and v13 should be considered abandonware. I have removed them from my Dropbox and all links are "404'd". v13.5 build 2022 shall be considered the only version that I am still "involved" in. This thread has reached 130 pages and has "served its purpose". We can lock this thread for use as "reference", but I do not see the need to keep this thread "alive". v11 and v12 lack too much funtionality in the "modern" web to devote any time to "going forward". v13 and v13.5 are too "identical" to warrant maintaining both. I'll start another thread for continued discussions on v13.5 build 2022. Let's please all respect each other and stay positive and that thread should serve a better purpose "to infinity and beyond".

  41. I don't understand the relationship between the motherboard RAM architecture or RAM sub-system and the M.2 interface. The HP computer in question has (1) NVMe 2242 and (1) NVMe 2280. The smaller one is used by the installed wifi/BT card. I assume I can install an SSD in the larger one? I read somewhere that M.2 SATA is not supported.

  42. I'm pretty sure its a S01-pF1013w. The HP service app on it said that the 1 year HP warranty expired just a couple months ago. This thing looks brand new, not sure where these come from, maybe leased? For what it has, I think the $170 I paid for it ($125 USD) is a steal. Came with a new mouse and keyboard. 1 TB internal hard drive, 4 gb ram, 4 USB-3 ports in front (which for some reason HP doesn't refer to as USB 3 but as "SuperSpeed USB Type-A"). Yes, I see that it will be limited to 32 gb ram (2 x 16 gb) but I'm not planning to go beyond 8 gb. Just wanted to make sure Win-10 home wasn't limited to 4 gb. I see that 4 gb DDR-4 ram is somewhat hard to find (locally). Having 2 sticks of 4 gb would be faster than a single stick of 8 - yes? Dual Channel?

  43. The point is that when you buy new or refurbished hardware, it's already going to have win-10 "installed" on it, and there won't be any media disk for you to use to "install it yourself". So the only thing you can do is to go through the motions when you take it out of the box and turn it on. It's going to ask for any info it can to identify a pre-existing microsoft account. Your only option is to give it a phone number that you've never given to M$ before. And I'll ask again, does win-10 home have any set ram limits? How exactly is win-10 home handicapped vs some other flavor of win-10?
