  1. Not always the case, to be honest. 2021 was, in fact, better than 2020.

  4. from here ----> https://www.xavier.edu/jesuitresource/online-resources/prayer-index/new-years-prayers New Year's Prayer As the dawn breaks on a new year, let us give thanks for all we hold dear: our health, our family and our friends. Let us release our grudges, our anger and our pains, for these are nothing but binding chains. Let us live each day in the most loving ways, the God-conscious way. Let us serve all who are in need, regardless of race, color or creed. Let us keep God of our own understanding in our hearts and to chant God's name each day. Let us lead the world from darkness to light, from falsehood to truth and from wrong to right. Let us remember that we are all one, embracing all, discriminating against none. May your year be filled with peace, prosperity and love. May God's blessings shower upon you and bestow upon each of you a bright, healthy and peaceful new year. - Rev. Marcy Sheremetta

  7. there could also be lots of good things happening next year (it could happen) we should not be sad about the next year just because of what happened the year before we should enjoy what the new years brings and fix what went wrong the year before

  8. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/emotional-fitness/201912/ten-tips-the-new-year Ten Tips for the New Year! New Year’s resolutions really only work for gyms. They get lots of sign-ups, but more than half the people who make the costly commitment do not follow through. Personally, I like to be inspired, not directed, and forcing myself into a smelly gym is not my thing. Here are some other ideas about making changes that may work a little better for you, too, as you prepare for the New Year. Believe in fresh starts. Most people either have this attitude or would like to have it. Make it a reality for yourself by adopting a fresh-start mindset. Everything is new again, and you get a psychic do-over on January 1. See your resolutions as a growth process. Making a list of the changes you want to see in your life is a good way to start off the New Year, and knowing that you don’t have to do them all at once also helps. Let go of past resentments. I do this every year. For most of us, everyday living can sometimes trigger bad memories. And even if you’re in the habit of regularly letting go of negative emotions, an annual purge won’t hurt. Prepare for the year ahead. It may be a good time to do some financial planning, like creating a budget or getting your taxes going. Squaring away as much of your financial burden as you can at the start of the year will make the rest easier. Choose a healthy lifestyle. This isn’t a one-time thing but rather an ongoing choice and attitude toward life. Joining a gym won’t help you if you eat junk food. It’s all about balance and making decisions that you just know are good for you. Forgive yourself first. You may not see it, but you’ve probably been too hard on yourself this past year, and it would be a good to let yourself off the hook. None of us is perfect. We all make mistakes, and perhaps yours was not even that profound, so stop giving yourself grief. Let it go. Apologize if you need to. Is there anyone to whom you owe an apology? If so, why not get it over with and use the holiday spirit as a motivational tool? Admitting you were wrong can be hard, but living with the regret or guilt is harder. All it takes is a simple “I’m sorry.” Be better to yourself. Usually we make resolutions for other people, but it’s wise to make a promise to be better to yourself as well. This doesn’t mean to be indulgent but to be psychically kinder to yourself. Keep your cool. This is going to be a very interesting political year, and everyone is going to have an opinion. I strongly urge you to choose to participate but to also keep any toxicity away from your relationships. Keep your promises. A resolution is a promise you’ve made to yourself, and that’s a good thing. Keeping promises you’ve made to those who count on you is even better. We all slip up sometimes. When that happens, it’s important to remember that we’re only human and then have the courage to own up. This is a new year, with new joys and challenges. Be open to the good, don’t hold on to the bad, and try to be a little bit nicer than anyone else. That alone can make for a good year

  10. I see now, ignored (content) is not blocked (user) in my dictionary, thanks. I actually have (since years) a couple users' signatures ignored (only because they are confounding me). Didn't know I was "unblockable", it is years that I am not anymore a mod, maybe something remained sticky from back then, or maybe I am just senior enough. jaclaz

  11. Regarding the rebasing of the DLL files of the browsers I think I am going to share a script to rebase the files automatically rather than updating the browser files that are in the Internet Archive. I haven't got like very different results on rebasing the DLLs so I feel like this has to be a user choice. I am also holding in doing anything because that would mean updating a lot of files (my internet is relatively fast but it isn't cheap ). I will move Mini Browser and the older DC Browser into the Internet Archive as well and plan on doing launchers for Mini Browser and 360EE (I don't think MediaFire is good for long term downloads). Just to let you know! Cheers.

  14. I know it's Windows 8.1, but it looks like Visual Studio 2022 works on Windows 8.1 unofficially. Gives me a warning that the OS isn't officially supported, but works anyway ^o^ Now, I won't be forced to use that malware Windows 10 just to get school classes done.

  15. Hi all and merry X-mass, I got bored and with the help of @Dixel and some amount of inspiration I sometimes get from @win32, I butchered the latest Opera 96 (110) to make it run on our beloved Vista ! This chinese browser Opera is based on the newest Chrome 110, which is officially supported only on Win 10 +. Also, I forced it to use its native hardware Skia engine 110. (which is now blocked on win 7 by default). For those who still drive their Sd.Kfz.8, Opera 95 and Chrome 109 are the last for win 7, so as of now, win 7 and the extended kernel for Vista are not able to run the 110 Chrome version. Please don't ask me about running it on WIn 7, I don't know (or won't tell) anything. In theory, it's possible for win 7 to run it. But only if you edit the browser code. (which is forbidden). Only Vista related questions. Thanks. Opera EULA says we can't edit their code, so I shall share my hacks/findings with @win32 and maybe he will be able to implement this in his next kernel release, so all of you could run it without the editing hacks.

  25. Hello, I think the ungoogled assumes google services had been totally disabled.
    1 point
  26. Yes. In fact I found no other external connections being made by the browser other than the normal ones (compared with an Windows 7 Ungoogled Chromium build) when fetching some usual websites. I always said that if someone find another weird connection, that please report it inmediately (with some logs or stuff like that). I have not received any report of that kind in like a whole year (if I am wrong with the timelapse please someone correct me) of these modified browsers being available for public. I do believe it is safe to use as it is basically a Chromium build with some superficial stuff done by the chinese company that created it. The protocols and basic functions of a basic Chromium must be the same as with this browser. At least that's what I believe. I have used it on banking sites and mail. Either way you can choose not to use it if you feel uncorfortable with it. Mini Browser and DC Browser were browsers very easy to modify because they weren't so much bloated than 360EE, if I had to say which is the most pure Chromium build I would go with those 2. I also find that happening on 360EE, as for a way to avoid the issue, I don't know anything I am afraid. The only thing I can think off is by running the browser with custom arguments (flags) but I don't know which of those can help in the issue. Sorry if I can't get a concise answer but that is because there is always some kind of uncertainty (I don't know how to program so I can't completely demonstrate the stuff I say, however I started learning C as I feel it is cool ). Time is the only one that will say if my work was good or bad and so far I believe its good. Cheers.

  33. Since 0x3e1c0000 seems to work for everything I've thrown at it (one x86 XP laptop, one x86 XP desktop, one x64 XP desktop, two Win10 x64 laptops), I'm getting ready to repackage everything, upload, and start a new thread dedicated to 13.5 build 1030. There still could be a "better" base address, not really sure. I literally just tacked via trial-and-error until I hit one that worked.

  34. I was originally aiming for "contiguous". ie, force a "defragged" RAM. Looks like this is not really the best approach. Looks like what is working better (and more universal) is to base to an address BELOW all of the SysWOW64 and WinSxS stuff. But to keep it ABOVE a mouse-gesture app I run on all of my machines (ironically, this mouse-gesture app resides at 0x10000000 - ie, the original default for chrome.dll). Admittedly, it's all been trial-and-error and just keep trying new base addresses. 0x3e1c0000 seems to be working out just great. For x86 and for x64.

  35. But I wasn't quoting DD this time (I blocked him for real this time), I only replied to jaclaz saying that I don't think legacyfan would block him, especially when he's a very wise member with a lot of helpful sources of information. You're not wrong about this, though. Have my upvote.

  36. @AstroSkipper - I think you kind of missed one of @UCyborg's main points. There is literally nothing to gain in this community by jumping through your normal hoops to always prove yourself correct and everybody else incorrect. We can all be "equals" even if we all have very different IQ's. Masters learn from their students. Here is my suggestion. Can we post this "issue" on a WiseVector StopX forum and gain some insights from its own user-base? Even without ASLR, a computer can run twenty different programs that all "default" to the same exact base address and all twenty of those programs will run without any BSOD's despite NONE OF THEM being able to land on their "default" base address. There is something else amiss with your computer if you are getting BSOD's. Posting on a WiseVector StopX forum should in the very least IMPROVE the product for future versions.

  37. @UCyborg! I removed all exclusions made for 360Chrome v13.5 build 2022 in WiseVector StopX. Running again this browser with the rebased chrome.dll does not cause a BSOD anymore. Therefore, my assumption that rebasing chrome.dll might avoid such conflicts is presumably correct. q.e.d.

  39. That Dr. Who character is the best portrayal of "vanity of vanities". Her name is Lady Cassandra. She claims to be the last "pure" human. But she's had so many surgeries performed over the years that she is nothing but the skin of a face stretched in a frame. The world revolves around Cassandra. Every other human still in existence is at her becking call to spritz her with a spray bottle of water so that she doesn't dry out. She reminds me of people on this forum. We are all just here minding our own business and yet some here are so into themselves that any and every move any of us makes is somehow turned and twisted into revolving around their own little universe. I'd say it's fun to watch. But it isn't. Dr. Who, on the other hand, that is fun to watch!

  40. Since I still use 1030, I actually used it to develop this patch before applying it to 2022. But its free version or Ghidra or OllyDbg should work just as well. Finding the locations isn't too hard with the source code for Chromium available, don't really need to decompile or use the debugger. It takes quite some time to disassemble/analyze a huge DLL like this one, though.

  41. From the underlying code, the proxy and "mediamanagement" were reindexed somewhere between 1030 and 2022. So were the translation .pak file indexes. That doesn't really answer "why", but it is the differences I see between the two after telemetry was stripped out. I'd probably have to restrip the two in order to spot more differences.

  42. A sun halo, sundogs and more.. Photo by Martin Male. Martin Male of the city of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, Canada, captured this amazing photo on September 4, 2018. He wrote: That was one awesome sun dog and sun halo all in one. In addition there was a ring around the top of the sky. Thanks to Eugene for sending me a text letting me know that it was out there. For those who are interested: These are all standard ice halos and arcs, a pretty awesome display of light. From top to bottom, you can see: an upper tangent arc (above the halo), parhelic circle (horizontal arc through the sundogs), a 22 degree halo, sundogs (parhelia), and finally, infralateral arcs on both sides that look like rainbows. Depending on the position of the sun and the shape/size/quantity of the ice crystals, you can get even more or different arcs and halos. Martin clearly knows a lot about sky optics! The chart below – from the great website Atmospheric Optics – labels the parts of a scene like the one Martin captured. Sky optics expert Les Cowley of the website Atmospheric Optics has this image on his frequent halos page. It shows you some of the features in Martin’s photo at the top of this page. Pictured at the far right of this illustration are various kinds of ice crystals, which are what cause halos and related phenomena. Here: https://earthsky.org/todays-image/sun-halo-sundogs-sky-optics-canada/ ..and another for you:

  43. My Windows XP system runs like a charm without any errors. We have an interesting range of working browsers which are constantly being further developed, and a lot can be done on such a system. Windows XP is a perfect Windows OS for old, underperforming computers. I hope this OS will live forever.

  45. For starters, Softpedia isn't the official vendor of 360 products, the Chinese firm Qihoo is... The browser linked in that SP page is, in fact, 360 Secure Browser/Explorer (a "relative" of the more widely familiar here 360 Extreme Explorer), which is mainly targeting mainland China and is bundled with Qihoo's "Security" products... Official download page: https://browser.360.cn/se/ Support forum (in Chinese): https://bbs.360.cn/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=141 https://bbs.360.cn/thread-15948589-1-1.html Newly released version 13.1.6066.0 is based on Chromium 86 core: i.e. the exact same core 360EEv13/13.5 are built on... Unless Qihoo have backported security fixes for publicly released CVEs from Google, I see no real merit on choosing this over the "sanitised" 360EEv13.x versions offered here in MSFN... For those of you feeling more adventurous, "Russian-Board" Forum thread for 360SE: http://forum.ru-board.com/topic.cgi?forum=2&topic=5854&start=0 "X-Portable" Russified+"cleaned-up" packages are linked there-in (but for older version 13.1.1774.0) ... As cautioned by Dave, NEVER run Chinese installers directly (extract the minimum set of required browser engine files and launch via portable launcher...) !
