To use a light and working AV program I installed WiseVector StopX 3.0.7. It works great and consumes less resources than Avast!. And the best of all: it's free of charge. The best choice on my old computer at the moment! K7 is commercial, unfortunately. When the trial period is over, you have to pay for it.2 points

I think I need to explain to the others. Halloween isn't that popular in France, it only started here somewhere in the late 90s. But we have another official holiday "La Toussaint", on November the 1st. This is a day of mourning the dead, bringing flowers to the graves, etc.2 points

For informational purposes All Saints' Day: origin, history and why this tradition is celebrated 11/1/2022, 8:05:19 AM (Credit Image: ? Jordi Boixareu/ZUMA Press Wire) All Saints' Day is a religious holiday celebrated in various countries around the world. We tell you about its history and tradition. November 1, 2021, Barcelona, Spain: A man stands in front of graves decorated with flowers at the Poblenou cemetery of Barcelona. November 01 is the Catholic holiday of All Saints, which is dedicated to the memory of the deceased. Every year on November 1, many Roman Catholics and other Christians around the world celebrate All Saints' Day, which honors all the saints of the Church who are considered to have made it to heaven. In the Orthodox Church, All Saints' Day is celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost. Here is an overview of the history and traditions of this religious holiday. Where does All Saints' Day come from? Although now celebrated in November, All Saints' Day was originally celebrated on May 13, but the origin cannot be traced with certainty, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica. Pope Boniface IV formally initiated what would later become known as All Saints' Day on May 13 in the year 609, when he dedicated the Pantheon in Rome as a church in honor of the Virgin Mary and all martyrs. The current date of November 1 was established by Pope Gregory III during his tenure (731-741) when he dedicated a chapel in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome in honor of all the saints. Although initially this celebration was limited to Rome, later, in the year 837, Pope Gregory IV ordered the official observance of All Saints' Day every November 1 and extended its celebration to the entire Church. All Saints really means ALL Saints While many canonized saints are celebrated with their own individual feast days (such as Saint Patrick), saints who have not been canonized do not have a particular celebration. All Saints' Day recognizes those whose holiness only God knows. Still, Catholic celebrations tend to focus on well-known saints, those canonized by the Catholic Church. A sacred obligation According to Catholic Online, within the Catholic Church, All Saints' Day is generally considered a Holy Day of Obligation, meaning that all Catholics are required to attend Mass unless impeded by illness or other suitable excuse. However, mass is not compulsory in 2021 because the feast falls on a Monday. Whenever November 1 falls on a Monday or Saturday, Catholics are encouraged to attend Mass, but it is not required. After the Protestant Reformation, many of the Protestant groups continued to celebrate All Saints' Day. Methodists, for example, recognize it as a day to sincerely thank God for the lives and deaths of the saints, according to Christianity.com. celebrations around the world Although it is not a public holiday in the United States, All Saints' Day is officially celebrated in many countries. In France and Germany, people have the day off and businesses are closed. In countries like the Philippines, where All Saints' Day is known as "Undas," the day is not just to remember the saints, but to honor and remember deceased loved ones, usually with prayers, flowers, and good offerings. That's unfortunately not all. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.2.1.1043 won't get definition updates anymore, either. It was discontinued in May of this year. I have used that version because Malwarebytes Premium for Windows 3.5.1.2522 doesn't work properly on my computer. Anyway, I already uninstalled Malwarebytes completely and removed its remnants.1 point

Will look into K7. I have no issue with Indian products and I DO use Quick Heal Anti Bot. Still works and updates every month without fail. https://www.quickheal.co.in/bot-removal-tool1 point

Well .. hate to bare bad news. Malwarebytes 1.09.4.1001 and Malwarebytes Anti-RootKit are not receiving def updates anymore. I'll leave them installed but only for demand scans as I don't even user real-time anyway.1 point

Just to clarify that! I am not against Halloween. I couldn't care less. My other statements are much more important for me.1 point

No, BTW, I am not a believer and a practising atheist. Children used to collect sweets on St. Martin's Day in our region. And if you want to dress up as whatever, there is carnival every year. And there are also many other traditions. What I ultimately mean is that Germans don't have to ape everything that other countries do.1 point

Guys, you both edit your posts like several times in a minute, sorry if I missed something when it became political. Unfortunately, by refusing the British and Western holidays in general, you could easily become preys of the huge soviet propaganda network in Europe, it's a fact. I already wrote I don't endorse anti-Halloween statements and made this post to make everyone happy. Here it is. https://msfn.org/board/topic/182193-the-msfn-caf%C3%A9-a-penny-for-your-thoughts/?do=findComment&comment=1228289 So, Happy Halloween to those who celebrate , and I guess... not Happy to those who don't .1 point

I could say a lot more about this and nothing would show the Russians in a good light, but we have to abide by the forum rules. Any political discussion or debate on the subject of war is not allowed.1 point

One has nothing to do with the other. However, to like a country and have good, friendly relations with its people, one does not have to totally adopt their way of life, traditions and language. And I have a very bad attitude towards Russia and its people, especially in the last few months. Sorry to say that! Ruzzification will hopefully never happen here and is definitely a no go, of course. But I would like to see that real Europeans (and I don't mean Americans, it's too long ago) do not loose their own traditions and their identity.1 point

Well it's either this or that, don't you see ? France is strong , sure , but I don't like were it's all going now. I think the bad point started when we left Vietnam.1 point

Ok, but spoken for the Germans, too much is copied and adopted from American customs, no matter where they originated. The Germans have definitely taken over Halloween from the Americans. And, the total Americanisation of the German language is particularly bad. The young people here can't speak any real German at all, and they certainly can't write it. The youth word of the year 2022 in Germany has become "smash". And you know I like the English language!1 point
-
But Americans are from European origin mostly...so it's loss of identity for Americans too. Perverted identity - these halloween festivities. Life is beautiful - not ugly...1 point
-
In Germany, it is similar. I have never seen children in my area who wanted sweets according to the motto "Trick or Treat". The slightly older ones, however, like to have (often private) Halloween parties, and there are also parties offered by organisers, but more for adults, and you have to pay for it. I don't like Halloween. We don't have to copy everything the Americans have in terms of traditions. In my eyes, this is more a loss of identity for Europeans. We have our own traditions.1 point

Ok, but I would like to be sure, that they take everything in knowledge of things, sources...1 point

Well, France is big and not everyone is religious , so ? Also, not everyone beleives in God of certain (alien) nationality , right ? People are different , all I'm saying . I guess it's fine as long as it's peaceful here, right ? Let them do what they want . I mean peacefully.1 point

Wasn't it just very French of us ? The French are one the most unique appreciators of the beautifulness of life , agree ?1 point

Dietmar , try this. How to enable memory remapping in BIOS. From the System Utilities screen, select System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Memory Options > Memory Remap. Select a setting. Remap All Memory—Makes all memory in the system available again on the next boot. No Action—Leaves any affected memory unavailable to the system. Save your setting. https://www.compuhoy.com/what-is-memory-remapping-in-bios/1 point

Hello @Wunderbar98! There is a special tool in terms of DCOM which is called DCOMbobulator. I had used it long time ago. It works under Windows 95/98/ME and Windows NT/2000/XP/2003. This tool can check the service DCOM in your system and offers the ability to enable or disable it. Here is DCOMbobulator's homepage at GRC: https://www.grc.com/freeware/dcom.htm Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

my ArcticFox 40 build is a "normal" build so it requires SSE2 my Firefox 28 build is plain VC2005 build so it doesn't require SSE/SSE2. my RetroZilla 2.2 is plain VC6 build so it doesn't require SSE/SSE2. my Palefill Polyfill 1.23 mod changes only install.rdf to allow SP55 to install. and the question of replacing GHLpf 1.2.19.3 is a "no", but I don't have decent idea on updating GHLpf for now.1 point

Thank you very much @AstroSkipper! I think it's some kind of IP blocking and it seems your provider's IPs aren't involved. While trying WinSCP via several proxies I got the error message that proxy connections aren't supported. I'm online with Telekom, maybe their IP ranges are the problem!? I know this is very off-topic, but maybe someone of you can mirror one (or both) of these two FTPs? BTW it's not that off-topic as you may think, because the most of us use old (but gold) technology which is unfortunately falling behind for years or even decades and (re)sources getting more and more lost - latest browsers even don't support the FTP protocol anymore. OK...one older post, I can answer to. Recently I had to join f***ing paypal , because the four colorful letters don't accept my payment through Apple Pay - and while having a paypal acc I instantly got in mind to donate some bucks to MSFN, hopefully it helps! kind regards soggi1 point

Thanks for your very fast answer! It's this, respectively this, file - Diamond FireGL 1000 Pro BIOS update. I tried NM28, PM31, WinSCP and PM31 with FoxyProxy + WinSCP with Proxy from Canada, China, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and Taiwan...no success! Let me know if you had success! And as said above, a mirror of one of the FTPs (especially the subfolder /Hardware/) would be extremely great. kind regards soggi I've uploaded it to MediaFire. Here is the download link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/erjx4k038m2qm3h/b1kp154.exe/file BTW, I am from Germany, too. I didn't need to establish a connection via Proxy or VPN. I connected to that server directly via my provider. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Did anybody get any Trick Or Treat children today? I didn't get to see any kids and its a shame, I always enjoy seeing the cool costumes each year. But maybe there didn't even have it this year with the world being in this state and might have not been safe. I recall seeing somewhere, they did Trunk Or Treat or something like that. Hope all are well today.1 point
