I have pushed the new extended kernel to the usual sites. Now I am working on the next thing and making progress: It is almost done, there are just some issues with BCrypt now, PowerShell 6.0.1 works completely now but that is .NET Core 2.0:3 points

Hello again! This is the schedule of tasks to be done for ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3: Writing a complete documentation (that is not so much fun! ), private testing of my package, fixing of potential bugs, creating an archive containing all necessary files, a short beta test, and then publishing my release of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3. You see a bit of work has still to be done. So, stay tuned! Cheers, AstroSkipper3 points

@roytam1 A sad side effect of the latest New Moon 27 update that the "Inspect Element (Q)" does not work. It will throw an exception and forces closing the browser. Same for all 32-bit variants, 64-bit not tested. So I must revert it to a 16th July release.2 points

The sound is fine for me with 13.5. The browser is a bit of a resource hog though, maybe that's the problem? Try with version 11 and see if it's the same, apparently that's much lighter on resources. It's certainly a very capable browser, I've found very few sites which malfunction using it.2 points

Hi alacran, just run it from command prompt: WinNTSetup_x64.exe NVRAM NVRAM 1.00 Usage: NVRAM option [ID|DisplayName] Options: (A)dd "full_path_to_EFI_File" "DisplayName" (D)el [ID|DisplayName] (S)etfirst [ID|DisplayName] BootNe(x)t [ID|DisplayName] (E)num E(n)ter UEFI on next boot It's a command line modification of the boot entries and boot order stores in UEFI NVRAM. Kinda a command line version of BOOTICE UEFI options. WinNTSetup_x64.exe CATTRIM CatTrim 1.00 - Only use with WinPE or MinWin installations! This Will delete "non essential" catalogs in \System32\CatRoot folder! Usage: CatTrim "Windows directory" CatTrim will remove most catalogs in \System32\CatRoot and delete or rebuild the cached database in \System32\CatRoot2 folder. That would be fatal for any full windows, but will save some space for a MinWin or WinPE installation. It uses Tools\CATTrim.ini as a list of critical files and lookup what *.cat files hold their signature. It support online or offline installations.2 points

Original source code: https://git.zx2c4.com/wireguard-windows/snapshot/wireguard-windows-0.5.3.zip I have done some fixes for installer and application code to launch this in Windows XP. Unfortunatelly, it use bcrypt.dll. There are successful cases where it was replaced. But while I have no experience for this step. I have no access to Visual Studio 2019 to test my code and continue to fix.1 point

Do you think this is Windows XP? Well, if you were to ask a random joe they would say yes. Having MS-DOS Prompt in my start menu doesn't help make it look like XP but I don't care. I want to show you guys how I managed to do it as I quite proud of how convincing this is. I started with a old version of ObjectBar for Start Menu. While when changing some settings it caused my VM to crash but it went well. Then I used the Revolutions Pack 7 for the Title Bars. Revolutions Pack 7 changed the icons to a Vista/7 appearance so I used TuneUp Styler 2007 (Part of TuneUp Utilities 2007) and Shell32.dll from XP to change all the icons back. While there is still some parts of Vista/7 from the Revolutions Pack and i have a annoying message from ObjectBar every time I started it up, I am satisfied with it.1 point

Hi @XPerceniol! Yep! That's what I meant. You need to use it only on systems with low hardware resources.1 point

Agree, running Wise 360 and the Wise Tray is too much, but only Wise Tray (alone) is pretty good. Looking around: Is this what you recommend - V8? https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/firemin_portable.html This is new to me and I appreciate any 'teaching moment' as good way to spend time rather than worry about things I've no control over.1 point

Most of the so called RAM managers free up an amount of RAM but in most cases by copying these data into the page file. And, if the data have to be used again, it will slow down the system. Wise Case 365 Free is a bit heavy, too much functions. The tool Firenin is much more lighter and specialised in browsers. I can recommend it. I use it in my system, low on resources, successfully. That being said <OT> I find: "BootTime" - "WiseBootBooster" - "BootLaucher" to be 'snake oil' and I never use those or the auto update. The ONLY files I use is: "WiseCare360" with sqlite3.dll and WJSLib.dll ... nothing else at all. Ignore all the other files and the program works fine. <OT>1 point

I've been able to run Calibre 6.1 on Windows 7 x64 using this method: 1. Download Calibre msi file from homepage and patch the installator using Orca to be able to install it on Win7 2. Copy and replace these QT6 Win7 compatible files from here: https://forum.qt.io/topic/133002/qt-creator-6-0-1-and-qt-6-2-2-running-on-windows-7 https://web.tresorit.com/l/iWnTl#yGMg45iqZObF8miEZt7FaA 3. Looks like you had fun. Reminds me of CalmiraXP for Win3x. I haven't gotten around to it, but eventually I'd like to mess around with BlackBox4Win and LiteStep.1 point

Hello to all! Here is the next update on progress in the development of ProxHTTPSPoxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3. Actually, the programming work should have ended, but, after further tests I found some new bugs. I could fix them, at least I think so. I hope there are not more. As promised I uploaded a screenshot of ProxHTTPSPoxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3. Here it is: Looking at the picture you can see two new entries in the pop-up menu, Minimize ProxHTTPSProxy To Systray and Restore ProxHTTPSProxy From Systray. The arrow shows ProxHTTPSProxy minimized to systray. I replaced the new icon of @cmalex's ProxyMII by the old one. More new features are inside my package and not visible in the picture. One thing is clear, of course, the best feature of this package is the TLS 1.3 functionality, provided by @cmalex's ProxyMII. We can't thank him enough for that! Applause applause! More in the next days! Stay tuned! Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

SanBrowser is a Chinese product, that's one thing for sure... The installer for latest version v1.0.2.30 (from one year ago) has been digitally signed on July 25th 2021, the certificate issued by "Shenzhen SanShangYun Technology Co., Ltd". The downloaded setup is of a custom format that can't be unpacked with any of the known tools in my possession ; that surely made it impossible for me to inspect internal .EXE and .DLL files with Dependency Walker, to check for Vista SP2 compatibility ... And when I read their "Privacy" disclaimer: https://www.sanbrowser.com/privacy , it became a "no go" for me to even attempt running that Chinese-made installer ... So, I'll pass the baton on to someone else more adventurous, I guess ...1 point

Support for installing Chromium extensions, saving their settings, as well as keeping cookies and other settings has been implemented: The original objective was to fix the "CultureNotSupported"-related exceptions that prevented .NET Core 5 from working, but under the belief that the .NET and Chromium issues were connected, I worked on solving the issue using Chromium. It turns out that .NET's issues are unrelated.1 point

Also, WIN+L causes Validation OS to lock up with the mouse cursor only appearing in the black screen without any window present (Such as CMD) with the only way to exit the OS is to long-press the Power Button which is what I usually do to exit Validation OS. Also, I haven't found a way to capture screenshots from Validation OS without using a VM And I have managed to run the following non-console apps from Windows 11 in Validation OS without issues, to further prove that Win32 apps that are not console-based can run on that OS (The commands you have to type are bold and green for 1sy Party apps while for 3rd Party Apps are bold and red): Windows Font Viewer (Only viewing support is available) "D:/Windows/System32/fontview.exe" lucon.ttf System Information (Some functions cause the app to be non-functional such as the about box because a lot of needed features are missing and can also act as a list of running applications for Validation OS) "D:/Windows/System32/msinfo32.exe" Windows Features (Runs but nothing to enable/disable) "D:/Windows/System32/OptionalFeatures.exe" Printer User Interface (Fully Functional but stub anyways) "D:/Windows/System32/printui.exe" File Signature Verification (Only Advanced is not working) "D:/Windows/System32/sigverif.exe" Driver Verifier Manager (Fully Works) "D:/Windows/System32/verifiergui.exe" CrystalDiskMark (Interface must be set to English or else it bug out, with Greek it would not show Greek characters) "D:/Program Files\CrystalDiskMark8\DiskMark64.exe" You can try these under Validation OS to prove that Win32 apps can run in it. Currently, only 6 apps found in the System32 folder of the main OS drive ran without issues. Also, three fonts can be found at Validation OS: System, Terminal and Lucida Console. Adding just the Marlett font into the VOS Image will make the OS display more badly as most areas will be shown in the Marlett font. Last but not least, unlike the 64-bit WinPE, you can run 32-bit apps on the 64-bit Validation OS (VOS does not come in 32-bit variant but comes in either 64-bit in either AMD64 or ARM64 architecture). Calculator from Windows XP did run under Validation OS (And ran even without any optional component installed) but not under Windows PE.1 point

The CPython 3.7.x branch is the LAST that can launch under Vista SP2 fully updated (until Vista's EoS; that is "vanilla" Vista, i.e. no ExtKernel ). The 3.7 branch is currently under "security-fix" maintenance ONLY by the PSF (Python Software Foundation), as such they have ceased releasing themselves Windows binaries at version 3.7.9: https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-379/ The current 3.7 source-only release is v3.7.13 https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-3713/ A third-party (i.e. not the PSF) are providing Windows binaries for that version at: https://github.com/adang1345/PythonWindows/tree/master/3.7.13 Python 3.7.x will become EoL in ca. a year (23-07-2023) but, sadly, many Python projects are already considering dumping support for it , also due to the small number of actual Vista users... PSF have also dropped support for Win7SP1 (and Win8.0) in Python 3.9.x; with Win8.1's "demise" come next Jan 23rd, CPython will move to supporting only Win10+...1 point
