NextPVR 5 is now in public beta, but does not support Vista. There is not yet any need for a legacy download link because the current stable version 4.2.4 does support Vista, and the developer has not ruled out further 4.x versions.2 points

New build of post-deprecated Serpent/moebius for XP! * Notice: This repo will not be built on regular schedule, and changes are experimental as usual. ** Current moebius patch level should be on par with 52.9, but some security patches can not be applied/ported due to source milestone differences between versions. My car dealership now admits they were having problems with their website and have now corrected them. The problems seem to have affected the car manufacturer's website as well. Most likely the manufacturer provided buggy software and updates to their dealers, thus affecting many dealer websites. I am no longer seeing 6-column display problems in either NM 27 or NM 28. I have made no changes to my system other than periodic New Moon updates. This explains why some of out helpful friends were seeing bugs on some system setups, but not on others they tested later. My thanks to you, Roytam1, and to your supporters for your responsiveness to me. .2 points

Edit 6/22: maybe on Vista/Server 2008. not on XP/POSReady 2009 (as in unaffected). new updates from mid-2018 to April 2019 for XP/POSReady are safe to install, even for non-SSE2 systems as the Meltdown/Spectre security fixes were never backported to XP/POSReady. the non-SSE2 problem with newer updates past mid-2018 seems to be limited to 32bit Win7 only although MS has not updated MS KB article 4090450 in a long time as to whether or not a fix for the non-SSE2 problem will be addressed for Vista/Server 2008 SP2 (but maybe MS has "silently" addressed the non-SSE2 blue screen problems in newer updates made in mid-2018 and beyond; they're just not saying anything about it) however, try installing the KB4340583 security update on Vista SP2 on an old PC using an AMD Athlon XP CPU - that updates the amdk7.sys file.1 point

Not really. I didn't mention that there are two independent copies of 95, and of 10, and several of 98SE. I also forgot the two copies of XP.1 point

Same here, so probably that's normal. (NV7800GT/ driver 82.16). Agp texture accelaration is certainly no PCIE feature and dxdiag from 2004 is older than these graphic cards.1 point

No problem, I think I can fix that, but since it's been a while I think it might be time to make a new build of a newer version. If I'll have time I'll try to do it within the next few days. (If I have time). T_T1 point

@foxzzy First, I want to welcome you to the MSFN forums ... However, and any forum admin will probably agree with me, it's not polite or even compliant with forum rules to have your second post be a slightly reworded version of your first one, asking about the exact same thing... You made your first post here: <thread link invalidated because of thread merge: it's the 1st post on this thread, now> and @Mathwiz was kind enough to provide you with links to the main MSE thread, where your query should have been answered, beyond any doubt... Did you ever bother reading the relevant posts (found in the "last-ish" thread pages...) ? You obviously didn't like the answer you received and you opted to come back with this duplicate query/thread... This is a real faux pas... MSE/XP is dead; first, M$ made its engine non-XP compatible; an interim mitigation was applied, but the final end was imminent: M$ also changed the "format" (for lack of a better term) of the actual definitions to be only compatible with the updated (non-XP compatible) engine; any attempt to patch those files will invalidate their file signatures/HASHes and render them "corrupt", unable to be used even with the old engine... What you're asking is for someone to deeply patch official Microsoft files (both engine DLL and definition files); even if some able person manages this, it wouldn't be allowed to post here "hacked" Microsoft files... FWIW, MSE is kept going by M$ only for the sake of Windows 7 (and they are being gracious to those few Vista users, too); once Win7 reaches EoS in several months, the future is unclear for "legacy" MSE (replaced by updated WD in Win8+)...1 point

I checked the code, they just changed the command line parameter for disabling custom title bar. The correct parameter in newer Chromium browsers is -disable-windows10-custom-titlebar The decision is made in chrome/browser/win/titlebar_config.cc.1 point
-
Apparently my assumptions were incorrect, and so is this thread's title. I searched through Chromium's commit history and found out only the option in chrome://flags was removed, the functionality is still intact and can be invoked using a command line parameter, see here. So one must add --disable-features=Windows10CustomTitlebar parameter to Chrome's shortcut properties, at the end of the Target field on the Shortcut tab. This method doesn't have any undesired side effects like running in compatibility mode has.1 point
