I think it's a testament to what a great OS XP is. They're pushing updates, because people are still using it. An operating system from 2001 still has a market share of roughly 1.6%, is that not crazy?2 points

If you would've told a costumer from 2001 that their purchase of Windows XP would get updates until 2019 they would not believe you! Yet, here we are with a new patch out of the regular POSReady 2009 support window2 points

You can force "multiprocess mode" (aka "e10s") in Firefox 52 or @roytam1's Serpent 52 and 55, by creating the Boolean preference browser.tabs.remote.force-enable and setting it to true. This splits Firefox or Serpent into two processes. To allow more than two, set dom.ipc.processCount to a value greater than one (i.e., setting it to 2 allows 3 processes, etc.) Don't try this in New Moon, though; it will crash! It doesn't work in BNavigator or IceApe either; setting the above preference makes it appear to work in about:support, but Windows Task Manager nevertheless shows only one task no matter how many tabs are open. Edit: Summarizing what was discovered below, this preference is required to enable e10s (multiprocess mode) in FF 52 on Windows XP. But with later Windows versions, or some other FF forks on XP (confirmed with Serpent 55), you can instead use the preferences @VistaLover recommends in the next post: toggle browser.tabs.remote.autostart from false to true, and if necessary (due to add-ons flagged as incompatible with e10s), toggle extensions.e10sBlocksEnabling from true to false. In Chrome, each tab is a separate process; but in FF the maximum number of processes is limited by that preference. If you open more tabs than that value, tabs will begin to share processes vs. creating new processes.1 point

I think I discovered why we have received a new update. https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2019/5/14/18623708/zombieload-attack-intel-processors-speculative-execution EDIT - I was wrong This is why https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-patches-windows-xp-server-2003-to-try-to-head-off-wormable-flaw/1 point

So this new XP update. There are two flavors - Security Update for Windows XP SP3 (KB4500331) - Windows XP and 2019-05 Security Update for WES09 and POSReady 2009 for x86-based Systems (KB4500331) - Windows XP Embedded Which one am I now? Through Nov 2014 I was XP. Since then I've been a cash register. What's your guidance?1 point

... This has been already previously covered many a times in this thread ; in the case of New Moon 28, which is built from code on the UXP master branch, you shouldn't be using the official language packs destined for officially released stable Pale Moon versions: http://addons.palemoon.org/language-packs/ Instead, one should install the most up-to-date pack offered at @JustOff's GitHub repository: https://github.com/JustOff/pale-moon-localization/releases (at the time of writing, 28.6.0_RC1 is the most current release); if the installed LP becomes incompatible with a new NM28 release, one has to disable it (via Safe Mode, if browser won't start at all) and thus return to the default en-US GUI, until such time as an updated LP becomes available in the linked GitHub repo (or, if you're qualified, try to fix it yourself by looking at "*/locales/en-US/*" string changes in the official GitHub changelog and then porting these to your installed package...).1 point

So around 350 files difference. Do you have full file with all links like before? If you have please share, if you don't then don't create one especially for me1 point

The thing is that USP 5.1, whilst being built like a real Windows 2000 service pack, was not officially supported by MS. KB888111 predates USP 5.1 but is not included in it so it's considered superseded by the USP according to its QFE (which it's not) and doesn't install properly. The MS equivalent to the USP, SP4 UR1 (which is problematic in its own ways) should not have these issues due to it not being equivalent to a full SP. You could also use the HFSLIP FullPack (beware of nLite driver integration-related issues), which doesn't involve USP 5.1 and includes KB8881111 point
