  2. No prob here. As I've stated hundreds of times, browser choice is always always always a matter of PERSONAL PREFERENCE. There will never ever ever be a "one size fits all". The more, the merrier. I've never replied to any "which browser works best" with anything other than "we cannot make that choice for you, you will have to try several and decide for yourself". I'm also NOT a fan of "aero". Not a fan of "transparent" toolbars in 10 either.
  3. Linux has come a long way since 2005, though there are still oddities in places and they still didn't get some banalities right that Windows has done right since forever. So don't be surprised for the lack of polish under the hood and elsewhere. One of the first things I noticed with Raspberry Pi 5 and official Raspberry Pi OS, my session with all open programs was just gone if I turned on the option for screen to go off on inactivity or if I turned off the screen with a button. It's due to some combination of VideoCore4 graphics driver and Wayland, you can either put a special parameter to the kernel command-line or switch from Wayland to X11. Yeah, Wayland vs X11, that still seems to be a hot topic in 2024, LOL. Wayland was supposed to get graphics / windowing system right and display compositing out-of-the-box, but it just has its own quirks and restrictions and whatever GUI programs you use have to be programmed specially to support Wayland, X11 emulation on Wayland can be costly in performance, at least that was my experience with Vivaldi on Raspberry. I don't know, being a long-time Windows user and Windows almost always being #1 target for programs and hardware, I don't think I could personally just let it go. Windows 10 should still be fine for a good long while unless some of Windows 11 specialties are desired.

  5. Sorry, but it's not a word per se.
  6. I'm not sure that's true. Maybe it's true of some, but I often read what's going on "over there" when @VistaLover or @UCyborg links to a thread about a technical issue that affects UXP browsers (and "UXP-like" browsers such as St 55) generally. That said, there's often an arrogance "over there" that their decisions are the only "correct" decisions. It's not merely hating on MCP to recognize that there's still a lot of unnecessary tension between them and @roytam1 (not to mention @feodor2). It's important to recognize where we stand. I'm perfectly happy with MCP and @basilisk-dev refusing to support Vista and older OSes. You have to draw the line somewhere. But that doesn't make it the correct decision for everyone on the planet! Some folks prefer to stick with XP, some Vista, etc. I happen to prefer Windows 7 without Aero, which many folks think is weird because it makes it look like Win 98! But I think it's best to adopt a "live and let live" attitude, and not try to force my preferences on anyone else. Everyone is trying to make the best decision for themselves, and I think it's better to support whatever folks are trying to do than to belittle them because they made a different choice than I might have.
  7. Thanks! Yes, I do, unfortunately it's uninstallable, and Enchantress, I sometimes play that charachter.
  8. Actually I looked on a stock Windows 10 PC and the glitchy behavior was happening even there. Never mind I guess, I suppose that's just how it was coded from Microsoft themselves 🤷
  9. Meh! Some have thanked me for exposing it. That's fine though. I'll leave it be. I think many people feel that once Tobin left, all the toxicity was gone from the Moonie Forum. However people like moonbat are the most toxic, and Moonchild is very disingenuous. I take pride in point stuff like that out. But again, I'll refrain from posting this stuff any more.
  10. Try swapping the resources in Device Manager.

  12. There is no need to use ProxHTTPSProxy for all internet connections, even in Windows XP. Mypal 68, 360Chrome, Thorium, Supermium and all @roytam1's browser editions are capable of the TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 protocols. However, the proxy is actually only needed for those programmes which are not capable of these protocols but need them in these days. Same applies to WU/MU, for example. Therefore, I use ProxHTTPSProxy only occasionally when really needed. And such cases happen, of course. Which sites do you need this proxy in 360Chrome for? Which sites appear to be unsafe for you in 360Chrme?
  13. Things got a lot better on that front. As far as HW compatibility goes, they're all about the same (which is to say pretty good). Almost all come with a "Live" installer, meaning they boot to a full desktop, and can be tried without having to install anything. Why not multiboot, at least while you're trying to decide?
  14. I found a German forum site where the same issue was reported under Windows XP long time ago: https://administrator.de/forum/win-xp-ereignis-id-3012-loadperf-16362.html Use an online translator! Maybe, the solution at the end of this thread works for you, too. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  15. Just wanted to report that SAB is running great on 11 LTSC 26120.670 (24H2) insiders.
  16. Greetings. Faced with a problem related to DVI connection. It appears both in pure MS-DOS 6.22 and in the DOS window of Windows 98. I used different nVidia graphics cards and everywhere the picture is almost identical. Namely, when I set any resolution and refresh rate (640x480; 800x600; 1024x768), it is reset to native for my monitor, determined by the EDID for the DVI port. Monitor, any selected input resolution defines as 1600x900@60hz. Naturally, I would like to put something else. For example, 800x600@72hz. but the input is still the same 1600x900@60hz. When I connect via VGA, everything works correctly. What resolution and frequency I set - this is displayed. As far as I understand, the nVidia video card scales any outgoing resolution to native, if connected via DVI. Is it possible to somehow disable forced scaling under DOS\9x for DVI connection or somehow explicitly set the required mode?
  17. All @heinoganda's, @Thomas S.'s, @cmalex's proxy versions and also my packages of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu are based on whenever's ProxHTTPSProxyMII. All of them can be considered secure, of course. Or do you think I would offer here unsecure proxy packages? And first of all, credits to the original developer whenever.
  18. For me it seems most of the issue is relating to Same Origin Policy/CORS and without looking too deep into things, it sounds like rather than provide a secure or compatibilty web interface, they instead will just show the message.
  19. Yes, the Quadro FX 4500 (G70) works acceptably with 512MB of video memory on board, at least with ForceWare 77.72 drivers (and higher), but only after installing a special patch. For ForceWare 8X drivers.XX you will need the "PTCHNVSZ" package (By Rudolph R. Loew). With this package, you can fix the driver and/or the videobios so that it works correctly with this volume. It may also be necessary in other cases, as it contains several related fixes (FIXINTR, FIXEOI, Patch PCI.VxD) and other things that may be useful in some other cases (for more information, see MANUAL.TXT). For the most trouble-free 9x compatible ForceWare 77.72 driver, you can use a different patch (Created by analogy with "PCHNVSZ", but suitable for the 77.72 version of the driver): http://windows98.xf.cz/index.htm#NV7722PATCHED I use a combination of these two options - "FIXEOI" and "PATCHOPT" from the "PCHNVSZ" package + the corrected NVCORE.VxD (From the link above), together with the ForceWare 77.72 driver (The latest version with which D3D\DirectDraw still works without problems). And also nvOpenGl.DLL from version 71.84 (As newer ones caused problems in OpenGL). And MTRR correction (Without which the speed of some indicators in 2D and under DOS on PCI-E cards is extremely low). For G71 PCI-E, you will need at least ForceWare 8X. XX (With which there are a lot of still unresolved problems, in particular, with D3D\DDRAW). 77.72 doesn't have these issues yet.
  20. It detects something like 128Mb or so. Like XP detects only approx. 2Gb out of 6GB GPU.
  21. That should be the developer, right? https://github.com/wheever/ProxHTTPSProxyMII Do you always use the proxy, or only occasionally? Do you trust it?
  22. Some reported success with RTX3080, so if you still can return that notebook and replace it, perhaps worth a try, but then again, no 100% guarantees.
  23. No drivers for Windows 7/8/8_and_a_half exist.
