Someone else had reported that DirectX 8.1 and 9.0 DXDIAG can crash when checking digital signatures. In your test with disabling/enabling the driver with DirectX 5: I have no idea what a STATESTS value of 0xBDF7 could possibly mean, the specification defines the high bit as Reserved, Always 0. The only thing I can think of to do if that happens is reset STATESTS and then reset the controller. e: no it has to be reading complete garbage instead of HDA controller registers, i should return an error as soon as the version number doesn't make sense.

Without Audio driver: no error if running DxDiag (empty log). I tested with DirectX 8.0 and DirectX 8.1 both. Only difference found: DirectX 8.0 gives no blue screen, general HResult error only. No problems with Playback or Volume noticed. I found no special WDM-related updates in case of Windows 98FE. The two you mentioned before won't install on Windows 98FE. WIN98FE_Wdmhda.021_DX5.1_DX8.0a_DX8.1a.zip Edit: after initial problems I succeeded to install DirectX 7.0a on Windows 98FE. Everything is, or seems to be fine! BTW DxDiag_WDMHDA.txt doesn't log tests as OK, but ALL tests on both DirectSound and DirectMusic where good! However, no Kernel mode mentioned with DirectMusic? WIN98FE_WDMHDA.021_DX7.0a.zip

Posts containing code blocks with real code can't be edited anymore, at least on Android devices. The font size can't be changed in already existing posts on Android devices (in mobile and desktop view). Adding MSFN links to posts is not possible in the default format. Inserting MSFN links suppresses the following lines. And so on. Most errors have been around for a long time, whilst others reappear at regular intervals. The forum editor is quite simply a nightmare.

Development progress insights: youtube.lua I have completely reworked my youtube.lua script. Now, the title of the video stream and an English subtitle is shown in VLC if available and selected by the user. Settings of both are done in the VLC settings which is then read by my script. The complete script has been optimised for best performance under Windows XP on my old, weak P4 machine. And no JavaScript challenges, of course. Here is a short GIF file: On a computer with multi-processor technology and modern RAM, this runs at lightning starting speed, of course, compared to my single-processor computer with SD-RAM from 2000 and a stream starting time of 30 seconds. You probably won’t even see the flashing CMD window anymore or at most one nano-flash. In the process of developing, I’ve managed to reduce the number of flashing CMD windows from four to one..

The package for A20 Line Always On processing (and more) in HIMEM.SYS
cov3rt replied to SweetLow's topic in Windows 9x/ME
I was able to figure out the main issue after chatgpt referenced boot image related stuff. essentially it was not using the actual modified stuff, because i wasn't providing the .img/.ima base file from beforehand when creating the boot media via the software i was using. i know you did mention about this earlier, but i didn't understand what that meant exactly in my context. for those starting with just the 98SE boot disk iso, you'll need winimage + ultraiso and / or anyburn, but if you already have a stock 98SE boot image in .img form, then all you need is ultraiso i believe. i had chatgpt write a short guide on this, but i'm also providing the boot disk in .ima form already + my modified 98SE boot disk iso already made as attachments for some time so people can download and use / test, though i haven't been able to test the iso one's actual functionality, because i only have unsupported systems at the moment that are incompatible, like "hp 14-dq0054dx" using an external usb optical drive, shows as no fixed drive present, AHCI not loaded, etc. the boot disk doesn't support NTFS. It is essentially stock 98SE boot disk + CTMOUSE, AHCICDA.SYS, HimemX2, JEMM386.EXE, UIDE.SYS, modified autoexec.bat/config.sys/setramd.bat. https://limewire.com/d/Dq2t6#JQjSz1GzN9 SHORT VERSION for creating bootable el torito cd iso using extracted modified files injected into ultraiso + stock 98SE boot disk .ima file: CLEAN SHORT METHOD (what you want) You already have: - Stock Win98SE boot .IMG (good boot sector) - Modified boot files (CONFIG.SYS / AUTOEXEC.BAT / drivers) - ISO content (WIN98 folder / CAB files etc.) STEP 1: Open the .IMG in WinImage and make sure your modified CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT are inside it. Save the .IMG. STEP 2: Open UltraISO. STEP 3: File -> New -> Data CD/DVD Image STEP 4: Drag and drop the Windows 98 CD files into the ISO project: - WIN98 folder - CAB files - SETUP.EXE (if present) STEP 5: Bootable -> Load Boot File Select your modified Win98SE boot .IMG STEP 6: File -> Save As Choose: Standard ISO (*.iso) -

cov3rt replied to SweetLow's topic in Windows 9x/ME
I burned the 98SE boot disk iso onto a cd and booted it via internal optical drive ( sata in ide mode ) on the Hp probook 6460b. I have used this method on other computers without problem, of course, almost all of them were much older ( usually no newer than ich6 ) and usually the connection was pure ide, not sata in ide mode.
