HOTFIXES: Windows XP SP2 & Windows 2000 SP4

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Anyone having trouble getting KB900485 to install?

I have installed now by directly downloading it and install, from automatic udpates, and from microsoft / windows update and it is offered to be installed. :(

It seems to have installed fine, yes all three methods. I am running IE 6 SP2, not IE 7 btw.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Will

Hi,

I can't get the updates 885835 and 911565 for XP sp2 to slipstream correctly. For making an unattended CD, I start with original copy of the CD (in a folder d:\xpcd), slipstream service pack 2, then run this script:

After a clean installation of windows from the unattended CD, 885835 and 911565 (and sometimes a few others) are not counted as installed. They are not listed on the add/remove programs list and windows update tries to download them. How can I fix this issue so all the hotfixes listed here are slipstreamed correctly?

Thanks.

I am having trouble installing KB905474 - Windows Geniune Advantage Notification using SVCPack.inf

The switches I used are correct (/q /n /z), I verified them with kb905474 /? to see what they were.

I think the problem is, at T13 when it gets installed, the /q switch asks it to install silently, but when you install it by clicking on it, there is an EULA that you have to okay. Because this was not okayed with the /q option, the update is not installed.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to implement this into SVCPack? I would rather install it there instead of RunOnceEx and prompt for the EULA.

KB885835 & KB885250 Have a conflict

KB912812 also has a similar conflict with several other hotfixes.

These conflicts each involve a file that an earlier hotfix also has an updated version of. That means an earlier hotfix will update a given file and the later one will also try to update it. Normally, this works okay. However, with these two Hotfixes, Microsoft messed up in their /Integrate code. If you installed the hotfixes, there would be no problem. But it is integrating them that is the problem. When you try to integrate KB885835 it sees a that an updated version of one of its files is already listed inside of HFINT.DAT file in i386\svcpack, and it decides not to integrate. A similar thing happens with KB912812.

You have to trick out the /integrate code as described in the linked posts above.

Can you tell me if the KB913433 could be integrated into a Setup CD with the /Q:A /R:N switches? I checked its switches and /Q is there, but no /R. As I understand this is a Type2 hotfix, is that right? Thanks.

I should think so since it is exactly what I used. I added it to mt SVCPACK and then added the following line to my SVCPACK .INF:
KB913433 /Q:A /R:N

Good Luck :)

Why does this not work:

KB911562 -› Vulnerability in Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) function could allow code execution

REG QUERY "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP3\KB911562" > nul 2>&1

IF %ERRORLEVEL% EQU 0 (

ECHO is reeds aanwezig

) ELSE (

ECHO Bezig met installeren...

KB911562.exe /q /n /z

ECHO Installatie compleet.

)

Problem is: It works with al the other updates, but not that one. (I get to see the /help screen)

When I do it manually : KB911562.exe /q /n /z , It works without a problem. But not when I run it from a bath file :s

lame question: what are the bold values for?
