Incroyable HULK Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 Well... no real action this month... only KB890830 (Malicious Software Removal Tool) has been updated.I decided to do a little cleanup on the front page. I think it's better this way.
jdeboeck Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 It would be better if Microsoft did a little cleanup, by releasing an update rollup Anyone have any idea when that might happen?

DarkShadows Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 It would be better if Microsoft did a little cleanup, by releasing an update rollupAnyone have any idea when that might happen?Probably shortly after they release Vista... Nope, later. Straight From The Horse's Mouth:Source: Windows Service Pack Road MapSP3 for Windows XP Professional is currently planned for 2H 2007. This date is preliminary.Source: Microsoft's Product for Lifecycle InformationMainstream support will end two years after the next version of this product is released. Extended support will end five years after mainstream support ends.I don't know about you, but to me, when Microsoft says "preliminary," I take it to mean "at the the earliest." Have they ever released something on schedule? You guessed it people, that means another year (or longer) of keeping track of umpteen hotfixes (what are we up to 40+, depending on what you are running?). If you are not using a DVD to install Windows XP yet, you soon will be. This is ridiculous! "Go straight to the source and ask the horse, he'll give you the answer that you endorse. That is, of course, unless that horse is the famous Mr. Bill!"

Well, that is for the next Service Pack, but that doesn't mean that it would be impossible to expect a roll-up package before then... or at least we can hope for one.
RyanVM Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I highly doubt it, since MS has shifted so many resources to getting Vista out the door.
Kiki Burgh Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Hi!This may be a bit uninteresting or might have already been posted but I just want to share this link: http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?m...st=11&FORM=PEME for some other unofficial hotfixes that may not yet have been included in the list here.If posting this was a silly thing to do, my apologies.

That's but a small selection of the unreleased hotfixes . And indeed, you were correct that this is not the right thread for it
perko Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 i confirm that kb912945 for windows 2003 server has the same issues... same here ... greets
dsy5 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 This may seem like a dumb question, but... Does it matter what order the hotfixes are listed in SVCPACK.INI?It would seem that if the latest fixes are executed first, any changes made by older fixes (later in the list) could supercede the newer ones. Or is that what QCHAIN.EXE is for?

Or is that what QCHAIN.EXE is for? QCHAIN.exe is for win2000 and old hotfixes (pre-winxpsp2 i think). Now it's built-in each hotfix package. In theory, those new hotfixes that include qchain can be installed in any order (old files will not replace new ones). In reality... well, don't ask dumb questions that lead to headhaches, just install your hotfixes from the oldest to the newest... that's not so hard with a little "DIR *KB*.EXE /B /OD"
