You are running the New Moon 28 SSE release. I assume your CPU does not have the SSE2 instruction set and is a very old one like mine although my Pentium 4 CPU is equipped with the SSE2 instruction set.

The website https://www.auf1.tv can be accessed with New Moon 28 (palemoon-28.10.7a1.win32-git-20250222-d849524bd-uxp-e43876ec84-xpmod.7z)

but on old, weak computers, it's more of a pain than a pleasure. You should avoid this website, at least on old devices. The page is overloaded with media, loads terribly slowly and uses around 200 MB of RAM. The CPU load is high due to all animations and transitions. I can block them via CSS, and the CPU load immediately becomes normal. But then the news ticker is no longer running, of course. I think such websites should be accessed on modern devices, and the reason for your issue is most probably the lack of the SSE2 instruction set in your CPU which might be necessary to correctly load this website.

VORAPIS to the rescue!

Disregard!  That was short-lived!  Videos are consistently stopping about three and half minutes in then the infamous swirling circle indicating buffering rears its ugly head!

One to two hours! You've never been satisfied with anything for so long. I think that's a new record. :buehehe:

Install the TURBOLAUNCHER 2.1.0.0 script (a launcher script for VORAPIS) instead of the Project VORAPIS 0.9.0.0 script itself! Works fine in New Moon 28 on my old machine. No interruptions of the stream, and no swirling circle here. :o

@NotHereToPlayGames But TBH, the Project VORAPIS 0.9.0.0 script itself works as well as the TURBOLAUNCHER 2.1.0.0 script in New Moon 28 and Mypal 68 on my old machine. Therefore, I assume you configured your computer badly, and by that I mean your adblocker:o

If you're gonna stream, you should just use Netflix,if you have a subscription.

It is not a configuration issue.  I have already ruled that out.  It's also not an adblocker issue, running "na ked" and using a "vir gin" default Chrome (v131) profile also has buffer issues.

YouTube works FINE, with or without Vorapis, in anything NON-CHROME (ie, New Moon, Mypal, Serpent, Pale Moon, IceCat).

It is only in Chrome.  YEAH, I know!, it is technically "OT" for this thread!  But this thread is where the Vorapis was discussed, I was too lazy to start a new thread.

I have not tested if this is only an Ungoogled Chromium issue.

I suppose that is very possible.  I don't really have any "need" for non-ungoogled here at home and I am "forced" to use "real" Chrome at work (YouTube works at work).

edit - per https://github.com/ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium/issues/3204 , this does seem to be an Ungoogled issue (which only really confirms YouTube/Google "telemetry" and only browsers that "allow" such telemetry can use YouTube).

To bring it back "OT"  --  how do I improve AUDIO QUALITY and HARDWARE ACCELERATION in Moz-based browsers?

Video quality in Moz-based seems to be "better" than Chrome-based.  But only on my primary monitor.  Move the video to a secondary monitor and fast-paced motion scenes lag BIG TIME.

Audio quality also suffers BIG TIME.  Sounds "muffled" compared to Chrome-based.  Moz-based sounds like a 64 kilobits per second bitrate where Chrome-based sounds like a 256 kilobits per second bitrate.

Ok, last "OT" (stop beating the dead horse already, I am aware it is "OT") [lol, nobody actually started beating the dead horse, I can PREDICT the future and I can SEE it on the horizon, lol].

Turns out the issue IS indeed with ungoogled-chromium and has been fixed in v133 with an opt-in resolution planned for v134+.

It's actually a WEBGL issue in ungoogled coupled with H264ify.

Despite being "OT", I leave this all here for readers to acquire some knowledge.

So, long story short. The Project VORAPIS 0.9.0.0 script works fine in Mozilla based browsers like New Moon 28 and Serpent 52 which are the browsers this thread is about. And it also works in Mypal 68, all tested by me.

Hello modnar and AstroSkipper,

Thank you very much for your feed back !

Extensive testing reveals that the probable culprit
is the hosts file (merged file).

Why only https://www.auf1.tv gave that strange error message (other websites no problems in that respect) remains a mystery.

That's why I usually avoid to modify the hosts file. The more configuration files are involved in establishing network connections, the more difficult to find the causer of issues. On my computer, only the firewall is responsible for the network connections. And Windows 10 Firewall Control Plus XP has been doing a great job without any problems. :thumbup All configurations can be done with it. Enabling or disabling specific, self-created rules is very easy. No need to do it via the hosts file.

I would advise you to only use Spybot_Search_n_destroy_1.6.2 additions to hosts file and maybe a few specific others for particular programs that you add yourself.

IceCat remains fine - without VORAPIS.

This appears to be a problem with Ublock Origin MV2. I was able to reproduce this problem on Opera versions 95 and 117 with Ublock 1.62, but it works with Adguard MV2 4.4.22.. In any case, it works fine in Firefox with Ublock 1.62, oddly enough.
