360 Extreme Explorer ArcticFoxie Versions

Recommended Posts

I never use any browser without a loader (be it Mozilla or Chromium).  That's one of my paranoias, I won't even run it "temporarily" without a loader just to see how it behaves without one.

One of the downfalls (in my opinion) of all "ee" (Extreme Explorer) browsers [and the "se" browsers] is that they all write to the Windows Registry and in the same exact location no matter what version of 360Chrome you are on.

So without the loader, who knows how every version interacts with each other when they "share" registry strings.

Understand; we all our own things that bother us.

Update:

So I said I would report back and it turns out..

My Ccleaner settings (high paranoia) was messing it up as I deleted everything but preferences file. As I posted today, with the loader, everything is as should be, without the loader, whole different story. But ... it would seem, using that loader and creating that profile, I can take that profile and take it to the application folder and use a shortcut with my stings and the settings from the loader work; however, while the search engine default is your google (g), the other (hidden) engines were still present and I was fine as they weren't active, but you know me (mister blobfish, of course) I had to check why and not deleting the folder and files:

User Data\Default

Local Storage (folder)

Web Data (file)

Web Data-journal (file)

Now, the other search engines are hidden as I removed them manually and with these files (left in place), it stays that way and remembers.

I hope that made some kind of sense ... without question 'one of those days' for me. Actually that is sort of every day lately lol

BAD NEWS!

Sorry to have to report this. Cleaned out the registry totally and removed all traces of 360 Chrome. Nowhere at all; everything gone.

So ... now:

From a flash drive I ran 360 Chrome (from shortcut with strings/flags) and its dangerous to say the VERY least.

Wanna see my registry now?

Huh?!?!? .....

Talk about telemetry city, I thought it was removed from the program files, excuse me???!!!

Needless to say, I would say its a VERY BAD IDEA to run this browser without some loader or protection in place; period.

Agreed!  The browser will create registry entries "while" the browser is running.  But the loader deletes them when you exit.  Humming Owl's releases write to the registry and those entries stay forever, I'm not a fan of that route.

Again, I was kinda unaware some of you guys were NOT using the loader - I don't suggest not using the loader.

I almost throw my computer out the window when Humming Owl's "nag screen" pops up when you close the last tab for the first time in a new profile - very confusing, do I hit OK, do I hit Continue, do I hit the Escape key on the keyboard?

Don't recall what the button choices are on that "nag screen", I just know the ears turn red with hate every time I see it.  :puke:

Don't you think he was using the launcher ?

Dear NotHereToPlayGames, where did I say I'm not using the loader ? I'm assuming you're talking about me too ?

And BTW , I think I found the culprit . The search engines begin to add/restore the chinese junk due to the stupid chrome's "add search engines" function , discussed here earlier . It doesn't matter how to lauch (loader or not) it will still add new search engines and this breaks your "soft-added" google to the initial profile.

If you are referring to OpenSearch, that feature only adds to the search engine list if you USE that search engine (ie, perform an actual search, not just "visit" the search engine homepage).

You can prevent them using Tampermonkey.

Ok ...

Break over, ha :)

Spent most of the morning cleaning and cleaning everything out.

So ... 'out of the box' [ungoogled v11] no profile ... no nothing, I actually don't have anything saved anyway so I don't miss anything. There is nothing personal at all and I prefer it that way. Some ppl save pictures and songs and bookmarks. Never!

Run the loader and browsed around some mundane things on the net and closed the browser after about 4 minutes.

Here are the registry entries that still remain.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\360Chrome\Update\ClientState\{27D39816-7A3D-406c-9ABC-97FB55674016}\_NumAccounts]
"aggregate"="sum()"
"S-1-5-21-776561741-1450960922-1417001333-1003"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\360Chrome\Update\ClientState\{27D39816-7A3D-406c-9ABC-97FB55674016}\_NumSignedIn]
"aggregate"="sum()"
"S-1-5-21-776561741-1450960922-1417001333-1003"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\360Chrome\Update\ClientStateMedium\{27D39816-7A3D-406c-9ABC-97FB55674016}]
"usagestats"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ESENT\Process\360chrome\DEBUG]
"Trace Level"=""

So, until we get this figured out, I just changed:

Sub Key ... "S-1-5-21-776561741-1450960922-1417001333-1003"=dword:00000000 (for now)

At least that took care of most of it and most entries and dword:00000000, so (I guess) that means inactive? And, of course,  --disable-component-update in your loader.

Again, thank you @NotHereToPlayGames I realize you are busy so there is no rush and I know you'll hard code when you can.

Hope all is well,

TC

Of course ! That's precisely what I'm talking about ! Our browsing habits/behaviour are different , yes , I use search at youtube , for example. That's why we see it's broken overtime and for you , not. Any suggestion other than Tampermonkey ? thanks

Not seeing any of those in Dixel's version . Starting from the loader , of course !

This screnshot (took it while the browser is open). Most are empty and/or meaningless.

ESENT is absent at all . Yes , it has some settings , like fonts etc , but they look innocent to me.
