BTW , do you know how to restore Aero ? I'm tired of that ugly and flat win8/10 skin.

I run Win XP and therefor before the days of Aero.

Whatever restores Aero restores Luna or whatever, at least as far as title bar is concerned.

I wonder if that connection is skin-related?

Maybe. I will search more.

Here is the list of files that I have changed, I could reverse-engineer my changes but it would take time --

Thanks. If i have problems I will let you know.

Maybe we need a "definitive" guide instead of several of us doing changes on our own and we are all doing bits-and-pieces here-and-there?

That is really my interest. I want to make a simple, well written and simplified guide to remove all undesireble conecctions that the browser makes to navigate the internet with peace.

But it would be interesting to know if it is "legal" to create an "MSFN Version" of 360Chrome and distribute that to forum-users ???

It would be interesting.

It's not enough , you need to patch chrome.exe , resources.pak and chrome_elf.dll too. This is what I dug up from my memory .

chrome.exe has :

http://www.360.cn (2 times , at least , depending on the version) . And some other IPs (inverted , the chinese devs are getting smarter , lol) . And like you said , I don't remember everything what I patched too, I didn't make records , it was kinda on the fly, but I think you will find the rest by yourself.

chrome_elf.dll has : (don't remeber , sorry, on the fly patching again, perhaps will remember later)

resources.pak has (from what I remember):

https://ext.chrome.360.cn

https://ext.se.360.cn

https://skin.chrome.360.cn

http://chrome.360.cn/themes

http://warn.se.360.cn (this one is 100% to leak your data).

Also , plenty of Gurgle, github telemetry addresses to report "bugs". Again , I'm sure you will find the rest by yourself, with your persistence .

And maybe this is why it still connects looking for a new skin and reports to that IP (even after the editing of options.zip)

EDIT: Don't forget , the main file chrome.dll has quite a few of inverted IPs too.

EDIT 2 : I'm talking about the repacked version . Yes ! None of those were removed by the "talented" russian hackers/packers, who were supposed to "remove telemetry" . Oh , and the chinese DNS , I wrote about earlier, is still there , checked again.

Thanks for the info Dixel.

I tested if changing directly the theme in the page "https://skin.chrome.360.cn/new/index.php" could affect that connection. I changed to the white version that is at the left of the one that looks completely black and when I open the bookmark manager it does not connect anymore to the cloudflare IP and the image I mentioned before does not load or appear in the developer tools. I changed back to the dark theme again and it connected to cloudflare. It is the theme.

Is there a way to change the theme of the browser without connecting to that ".cn" page?

Cheers.

Yes, but you have to either have the .srx already downloaded from that .cn page or have created your own .srx.

The .srx of most skins (not all, some only have registry changes that effect a different .srx [one of 8 that reside in root dir -> Chrome -> Application -> build # -> skin]) resides at root dir -> Chrome -> User Data -> skin

But you also have to modify root dir -> Chrome -> User Data -> Registry -> 360chrome_1.reg to point to that .srx via the "skinpath" under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\360chrome\default\ui_persist_value]

Ok, thanks.

Ok. I managed to change the theme modifying the file Preferences (/Chrome/User Data/Default).

Open it and search "jisu9" (there is only one match)

And change --> "id": "jisu9_dark",

to --> "id": "jisu9_chrome",

That worked for me on 13.0.2250.0

Edit: This is to change it to the light theme.

@ArcticFoxie

Hello! I wanted to ask 2 questions.

How can I directly download a .srx file from that .cn page?

and, Can you send me a copy of your custom .srx theme? I want to test it.

Also, I am updating the .txt files I sended before into a single one. I will be posting it soon.

Cheers.

When you browse the theme/skin page, the .srx will be downloaded to root dir -> Chrome -> User Data -> skin

When you select a different theme/skin, the first .srx will be deleted and the new .srx will go into that folder.

So once you have the .srx that you want, copy it from that folder and you'll never need to visit that .cn page ever again.

Here is my XP skin files -> https://www.dropbox.com/s/83mdky3jup73l59/WinXPskin.zip?dl=0

There are three files inside the .zip.

en_skin.srx and skin.srx goes into root dir -> Chrome -> Application -> 13.0.2206.0 (ie, build number) -> skin

geekkoedlankmgbjiogodoaibieloiep.srx goes into root dir -> Chrome -> User Data -> skin

If these files are in-place before you ever load 360Chrome, they will load by default.

Otherwise you'd have to make a change in the registry.

I wonder if this Chinese company will be able to circumvent the SSE3 requirement introduced with Chrome 89? If not, then support for a majority of XP hardware (and possibly for XP itself) might be reaching its extreme.
