The forum is designed to track topics and posts. If you've made neither it won't remember. You can find your own posts in your profile. If you want to "bookmark" certain topics, you can use the Watch Topic button at the top of each one. I do this to "remember" certain topics that I find I may need to reference often, for the help of forum users or personal reasons.

For your own personal use, it shouldn't be a problem really. You can try putting your driver files (INF based) in the INF folder. I had to do this recently using XPe for some weird USB device.

Customising Windows 7 Home Premium X64 Sp1
Tripredacus replied to thumpa's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
I would think you'd want to disable Aero, to save the CPU from having to deal with transparencies and whatever else. I'd imagine if you had a PC with at least 4GB RAM and a 64bit OS and at least a dual-core CPU, you'd have no problems with speed. I presume you are doing work with Flash since that's the only web design program I can think that would be resource heavy enough to consider these drastic alterations to Windows. -
custom avatars and signatures

I don't think flattening the layers removes any of that data. -
Which WinPE are you using? This was for WinPE 3.0 which didn't have wireless support. In the WAIK for Windows 7 SP1 you can get the WinPE 3.1 which has native support for wireless. I haven't gotten around to trying it yet tho.

Raid do not start after wake up from sleep
Tripredacus replied to leonundjulie's topic in Windows Server
Why would you enable sleep or hibernate on a Server OS? Especially if you have a RAID array... I wouldn't do that... ever. -

We have another section for customizing Windows: http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/40-customizing-windows/ It would be a better place to ask about where the correct animation is that you are looking for, and how to put it in your install. -
This must be the link you mean! http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?c2=11732 Breakdowns of the different support policies are here: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifepolicy It would appear that Vista Home Premium is not covered under the extended support lifecycle: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=11712 But its still likely that you'd get new updates, as you'd know Ultimate, Business and HP all share updates. I can't imagine that they would make an update for Business and not let it work on HP. As far as the differences, I think that Business is just Home Premium without Media Center.

Its not deceptive really, but Apple's OS sales are in the retail space because I'm fairly certain that is the only channel they are in. Their OS can be bought on a PC they make, or the retail box at the store. A Microsoft OS can come in retail box, distribution (OEM/SB), Open (Education) license, MSDN/Technet subscription, royalty OEM, etc. So yes the numbers comparison is Retail Channel (Apple) vs all channels (Microsoft) but there is nothing to stop Apple from going into those other areas. Anyways, I'm not sold on the "XP calls home" stuff. I don't think that is true at all. The only times I've seen XP validate itself is: - Installation/activation + grace period - installing new WGA version - MSSE or Malicious Software Removal Tool update/installation - MS direct download validation I've had XP PCs off a network for years and it doesn't ever one day just become "You may be a victim of software piracy" just like that.

Go into C:\Windows\Fonts. Right-click on the font you want to remove and choose "Delete."

I get it. Those ports 21-23 are destination ports. Blocking them would stop users from accepting connections for those protocols. For example, for FTP, if you block port 21, if an FTP server is being run on the machine, other systems won't be able to connect to it. If you want to stop users from sending files from that PC to an FTP server, you'd need to block ports 6000 and 6001. As for the other protocols, you'll need to look those up to find what outbound ports they use.

Um... over 350 million Windows 7 licenses have been sold since launch, which includes 175 million from 09/2011 through 12/2011. I'm not too sure about exact iPad numbers, but an estimated 48 million iPads sold in 2011. So maybe you meant some other Microsoft product, let alone everything the company sells.

Did you try adding one for TCP or UDP? Try adding one of the other types and see if that makes a difference.

Of course this won't make a difference if you are using an answer file with setup! -
RT Windows Customizer (Copy of RT Seven Lite ? )
Tripredacus replied to beatmaster's topic in Websites and Boards
This user has posted a tool here as well (gDISM or Windows Ultimater maybe) but that topic has since been removed. Either way, this topic (although may be short lived) isn't for this forum. -

I have added it to this thread: You can also subscribe to the topic with no notification set so that you can easily find it again if needed. -
Well it isn't a problem if the bootmgr screen comes up. If it appears because of a problem, it would say that. For example, if it was for an improper shutdown, it would say something to that effect. Does this screen show up every time you turn on the notebook? As far as the keyboard not working at that point, it is entirely possible that the keyboard device is not enumerated at that point. Or if it is on the USB bus, the USB might not fully work at that point, but its hard to say that for sure. Does the keyboard work after going into Windows? How about the BIOS can you get to there? You may find advanced topics to change the default timeout to something shorter than the 25 seconds you're waiting at the bootmgr screen.

I can't get to that website. Are you adding a new rule to the Outbound Rules in the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security?

Does Social Withdrawal Include Friendships on Facebook?
Tripredacus replied to FlierMate's topic in General Discussion
That's the thing. Social networking fools you into thinking it replaces real life. Friends on facebook, while they may be avatars of people you actually know, are just connections. They are the equivalent to acquaintances in real life. You aren't deleting a friendship, you are deleting an online connection. For example, I have IRL friends that aren't on facebook, so that they couldn't be facebook friends. They couldn't be added or deleted. So how does that non-facebook person relate to a facebook person? They are the same, but the connection they have on a website is really meaningless. I even have friends on facebook that I have not added to the list. What then?
