  1. Back since 2009? I don't recall but I can't remember everyone...
  2. Rolling Stones - Jumping Jack Flash
  3. If I am not mistaken, JorgeA has 2 DSL modems, in which an OLDER model is working fine? If this is the case, the possibility of having degrading wiring may still exist but at this point it would not be a valid thing to troubleshoot.
  4. Tony Bacala - The Death of Optimus Prime (Extended Remix)
  5. Das Ich - Erde Ruft
  6. Your image was corrupted. Can you upload another one?
  7. That would make sense if it were impossible to get to that link at all. The fact that it doesn't work in the mail client but does work in the browser means there is a problem with the mail client.
  8. Yes, the entire reason for the drives to be sealed (except for the vent) is to keep unwanted microscopic (or larger) objects away from the innards. Especially since there are some very powerful magnets inside of there, charged particle of all those things you hear about in those furnace cleaning commercials may decide to zoom over to their favorite magnetically charged objects if it isn't sealed... Or even possible to happen as soon as the drive is taken apart. I don't know of any friends who have a sealed clean room to even attempt such a task as a platter swap, much less let me in there to do it.
  9. At lot of solutions, especially since people working on their own Seagate drives became popular, aren't really fully understood. So the 'can' above should be 'might'. Just like hitting the hard disk on a table or putting it in the freezer 'might' fix it. Many people seem to jump into either the "reprogram with hyperterminal" or "swap the pcb" before really learning exactly what the problem is.
  10. Plus I am thinking how you can possibly reseal the drive when putting it back together... Not to mention that some small piece of dust or debris could get onto the platter during the transfer.
  11. What if you manually type that address into a web browser? Can you go to it then?
  12. From the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack: The Atlantean Sword

    Hi

I'm sure we have something here to help with that.
  14. There was one instance where a person in management wanted to connect a DC powered computer to a forklift battery charger... To which I said "that is the stupidest idea I've ever heard" followed by "I'm going to wait outside to greet the ambulance, let me know when its safe to come back inside."
  15. Well if it boots to WinRE then something was done to change it or that it was initially created in a non-standard way. There would be no reason that the hidden partition would be unhidden and bootable after formatting the OS volume. If there is any MBR tools used to control the WinRE, formatting OS volume may not remove it, making it possible to still have the control code in that partition for WinRE. For your script, i don't know the relevance of setting ID 0x27 so soon. The newer WinPE is fast enough to possibly detect changes in partitions, which I ran into with doing XP recovery. Usually I would only change partition IDs at the end of all my work.
  16. I had DSL at one point just over a year ago. They provide a little black "modem" that is (technically) a 1 port router. It only has 1 pots and 1 ethernet port. I do still have it, it is made by Westell but I don't remember the model. Of course, I don't know how long you've had that modem (or service) but you may have been in a pilot market. Usually the ISPs will test new hardware in certain markets for a period of time to determine whether or not they should push it for everyone else. Also, your market may have different capabilities as far as the DSL network goes too, you never really know. I'm not in that business anymore, but I doubt that the way those companies operate has changed all that much.
  17. I always read that the Server 2008 R2 functional domain level has a shared network recycle bin, which was never anything that any server I've set up ever needed, which I use just the 2008 RTM functional level. Is this a manual way to set that up then?
  18. Of course! There are walkthroughs in the WAIK you can read. Maybe the Technet Deployment Portal has something for you to start with too. We have a bunch of links here:
  19. I don't have any Windows XP systems anymore.
  20. Sometimes the ad images may not be the correct size and "break out" of the space they are supposed to be in. I've come across this in the past. If you see this again, can you take a screenshot of it, or post the URL for where this image is coming from?
  21. Tripredacus, Custom firmware on a router modem? I didn't know that was possible. No, it's using whatever there was in it when it arrived. So I guess the answer must be that it's stock firmware. --JorgeA I wasn't aware that you had a combination unit. In my area, Verizon only supplies router/modems to FiOS customers.
  22. I often see certain ODDs take their sweet time reporting during POST also. You can see if its fast to get throught post with the ODD or even HDD disconnected.
  23. What do you want to change? If you want to disable the recovery option, you can run this from an elevated command prompt: reagentc /disable
  24. It seems to be that "Windows Server Enterprise - Service Pack 1, v. 126" is actually "Longhorn Beta 3" ???
  25. Well the Guest account *is* limited to what it can access in the Control Panel because it is disabled by default. If you want to use an account for remote access like that, I would create a user group, and create a new user account and put it in that group. Then you can use Group Policy to lock that User Group down.
