I think my older version of this bootable DOS had QBasic in it... Anyways the Editvar does the trick just fine. It shows me the command in the rem and creates the dir using the variable name. editvar -p "Enter the system Serial Number." INPUTrem temp.exe /ss %INPUT%md %INPUT%I wasn't sure if the variable name was case sensitive, but I didn't want to test that out.

Fixed the broken url.

I don't think it has anything to do with Windows 7 vs Windows 10. For that specific link, last week my Win7 got the 404 in 3 different browsers, but a Win8.1 could see it fine with Chrome. And today it works on Win7 in Firefox. There is obviously an issue and I thought it was just my PC, but apparently there is something larger going on.

About the 404 pages... I've been getting that a lot recently. Mostly on the SBLicensing pages where it will go to 404 in all browsers I try, yet they can be accessed by other computers. One link last week was doing this, but today it is working fine. This is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/OEM/en/salesmarketing/Pages/media-replacement.aspx

Hf_Mig Folder on Windows Server 2003
Tripredacus replied to Jody Thornton's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
It appears that you normally wouldn't want to delete that folder... but that it is "ok" to do so if you will never try to uninstall a hotfix or update. That could be a big risk if you were to delete it (or at least its contents) and then some time in the future you run into a conflict with an update. I'm not sure if you could simply move the contents to something else, then restore it should you need to uninstall something. I do not know how Windows would react to that. -
All pinned items have a "(2)" after the app name.

See here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/173394-2-appearing-after-program-names-when-start-button-pressed/ Don't make duplicate posts. Your dupe post in the pinned SIB thread has been deleted. -
Working on a little project to prompt for input before using it in a command. set /p input= Enter the system Serial Number.rem temp.exe /ss %input%md %input%This does not work as Set in DOS 7.1 does not recognize the /p option. Instead it will add an environment variable that says: /p input= Enter the system Serial Number. Is there another method to get a prompt for input in this version? I had difficulty researching this on google. This is a booted DOS 7.1 and not running in a cmd.exe in Windows.

Well check out the forum rules.

UAP seems to be User Account Protection, a term from Vista which is now just UAC. You can make a Modern app (appx) using HTML5, but I do not think they are exclusively using just webpage technologies.

The board making beeps for errors is not at all standard. Some do, some don't. Some can have it disabled in the BIOS, etc. In my experience, all Intel boards will have the beep codes, but I certainly have come across others that don't beep ever.
-
The first item of concern (correct me if I am wrong) is that you did a motherboard swap without changing the OS. This would mean drivers from the old board would still remain and potentially cause a problem. I would uninstall any software from Control Panel that was for the old board and then install the driver software for the new board.

safely remove hardware icon doesn't work windows 7
Tripredacus replied to chris1946's topic in Windows 7
It could be a program you have installed is causing the problem. Take a look at any recently installed programs and see if there are any that might change how external drives are used. I did a little research and found (for example) that sometimes Acronis software can cause similar issues. -
Having a screenshot of the error would help. What is the D: drive? Are you using 32bit or 64bit version of Windows? JFYI, this game was released in 2002. Finding photos and original system requirements is difficult.

I'm not sure I understand what you say is happening. Are you saying that local user accounts (that are not the built-in Administrator) are losing their administrative rights after the PC is joined to the domain? As in, they are no longer in the Administrators group? Why was it determined that deleting the account and making a new one is your workaround? What other things were tried? I would look to see what GPOs are running on the PC after it is joined. Some can be applied even if you do not log into the PC using a domain account.

Did you try using less RAM or different RAM sticks? I didn't see that mentioned.

Firefox 2 and unresponsive scripts: What purpose do they serve?
Tripredacus replied to Nomen's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Firefox isn't the only browser to toss up a message like that, I remember having seen it in IE also. I never really looked into what the cause was back then. I can say that websites nowadays can be mostly un-usable without javascript. This is a bad because you can find sites where you can't see anything at all because they use the js for generating the pageview or menus or whatever. -

What is the USB device? Maybe it is actually set as not removable? -
Explorer Application Error on restart in Server 2012 R2
Tripredacus replied to Tripredacus's topic in Windows Server
Bump on this. Users have found this can occur in Windows 10 TP. -
Think of it like this. I could use it on my computer(s) at work*, but I can't tell my boss to buy it and have it on everyones computer. Nor could we say, buy it and then put it on PCs that we sell. *presuming you have the ability to do such things with your work computer(s).

What is the model number of the Audigy you are using? Look here as some have been posted in the past. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/152729-help-finding-sound-blaster-windows-98-drivers/

Although there are methods to make Server 2012 work as a Windows To Go device, it is not intended nor supported. Such a thing is fine for personal use, but I wouldn't recommend you use the "Server 2012 to Go" hack in a business environment.

I was able to do it with the very first version... I just right-click and remove or unpin or something.

That's interesting. I was under the impression that the dynamic Setup pages was going to be a new function of Windows 10. This would indicate that it was already in Windows 8.1?

How to avoid being "upgraded to Win 10" against your will:
Tripredacus replied to dencorso's topic in Windows 8
It appears so, but as with Windows 8.1 it would only be for the Pro edition.
