  1. Hmm looks like they redid their website since last I used it. Looks to be running better! Everytime I went there it would take forever to load completely.
  2. For checking on usability issues (website is up but not working properly) I would search on reddit or twitter. Those two places seem to be the go-to location to post about something not working.
  3. AMD didn't fix it, they made their own CPU that supported both 32 and 64bit. It was also cheaper. Intel eventually made some of their own x86-x64 CPUs and gave up on the Itanium. I remember being involved with purchasing once upon a time and suggested an Itanium server. It was decided against due to the lack of software written for them.
  4. If you are unable to enter BIOS setup without the HDD connected, you should probably replace the board/unit. The only thing you might be able to try first is to reseat the CMOS battery.
  5. I typically deal with various wireless cards, and I find them to end up in this order: 1. Intel 2. Realtek 3. Atheros 4. Azurewave 5. Broadcom This is only personal experience and I only deal with them in notebooks and embedded products.
  6. AMD64 means 64bit. It gets this name because AMD won the 64bit war against Intel's evil Itanium platform aka IA-64.
  7. Eww gross. They never deleted the automated test message.
  8. Strange, there was no animated avatar prior to me moving this topic here.
  9. Note to others, that "someone" was me. I referred this user here for help with the actual SD card as I was not able to make anything of the files.
  10. This is totally different. The BCD has nothing to do with how a computer functions technically. See if you can boot to USB or CD with the internal HDD removed.
  11. Ads have been in the trial version of Office since 2010. Fortunately (so far) they have only been ads for other Microsoft products.
  12. Today is Kelsenellenelvian's birthday! I had to copy and paste that because I doubt I'll ever remember how to spell that name.
  13. The Win98 desktop screenshots you uploaded are compressed and not pixel perfect. You can easily see this by looking along the icon or window edges for artifacts. The images are being resized at some point and the ones you attached to your post are not helping. It could be that the forum is resizing them. Try uploading to Imgur instead.
  14. I thought only the ISO was pulled, not the update itself.
  15. I have seen in XP before (on an EEE PC) where if you set a 4:3 resolution on a 16:9 display, the desktop will scroll. A better analogy for anyone who doesn't understand this behaviour, it is akin to using a VM or windowed RDP session where your own resolution is not tall enough to display the session at full screen. I wonder what exactly is being displayed in Win98? Take a full screenshot in the Win98 and we can see what resolution it is actually using. It doesn't make sense to say you have a wider display with a 4:3 resolution on Win98 than XP. It should be the same.
  16. Well, I downloaded an iso through the Media creation tool. Are there different isos somewhere? Yes there are ones on the VLSC. The other one you can make from your own using OEM System Builder or Retail media. I don't know if there are MSDN versions.
  17. Have there been any good tests of running HOMM3 in a VM? It is still a 2D game so it shouldn't run into the problems you sometimes see regarding video drivers. It wouldn't hurt to try at least. I was able to find some reports of the GOG version of the game works on Windows 10, but that would require re-purchasing the game.
  18. jmonroe, our developers can make and post what they want. You don't have to use it. Also your signature is too large. Please see our forum rules for guidelines. You can post the specs (and pictures if you like) of your computer here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/67112-post-pictures-and-specifications-of-your-computer-here/
  19. The ADK works fine with the usual releases of Windows 10, just not the free upgrade ISO.
  20. The BIOS related boot entries may be used by Windows in Advanced Startup. If Windows 8+ is installed onto GPT disk, you can instruct Windows to restart into the BIOS/UEFI setup automatically. You can see the relevant option here: UEFI Firmware Settings
  21. I wish it were true that Server OS couldn't be used on Desktop boards and vice-versa. Would make my job a lot easier. Generally, there isn't much difference between the two. The only big ones would be video and audio support. And don't confuse what works with what a company may support. Overall, the one we can say generally won't fly would be Notebooks with Server OS. A couple of clients have had this thought cross their mind since Xeon support has been made available on gamer models. Fortunately, most of the other add-on software needed for notebooks refuses to install or work properly on server OSes.
  22. Welcome to the MSFN!
  23. You can't use ESD because DISM can't mount it. I suspect MS made the free upgrade into ESD just because it can't be serviced by DISM.
  24. A lot of people use it because the only way they know to buy a computer is go to a retail store.
  25. From your dpc.txt, the ones on high end are relating to these: - networking - usb - hard drive - McAfee
