  1. Your cmd picture shows you trying to run diskpart commands from cmd. Those won't work. You would need to run diskpart first, it has its own prompt just like ftp does. For an example visual representation only of what diskpart commands look like, you can see some in the 2nd code box in this post: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/169284-windows-81-creates-2nd-recovery-partition/#entry1057840
  2. Windows 10 KN is a custom edition of Windows that Microsoft created specifically for sale in South Korea. It appears to only be available in Korean. I do not know if it is possible to add a LIP to KN, I can't find it available for download.
  3. Is it common to run WPI from the Administrator's desktop?
  4. Is this a case where the driver is installed but not the Realtek software? Last I used systems with Realtek audio, there was an option in their software cpl to do it.
  5. That certainly is a problem, but I'm of a mind to not think all new users asking a question is part of a spam team. In fact, there is no way to be certain, especially with the tandem groups. It is obvious that the askers and responders are different users and have different IPs. And that it is the ones who post the spam link answers that are widely being reported to anti-spam groups, not the ones asking the questions. The forum does automatically deny membership to spammers but it is not 100%. So this is why a lot of these threads recently get started and no one comes in to "answer" the question. Now that we've got our suspicions up, it is simple to quickly search google for parts of the original post to see if it has been crossposted, as this one was. The real spam groups tend to go after sites that have a google search result rating, or those who get scraped onto forum mirrors. This allows greater access to the links, especially on those mirrors which seem more automatic rather than actually moderated. Since we can find this other post, we can then "take it easy" on putting in effort in fixing the problem. In these "file corrupt" posts like this, the OP rarely seems to return to respond with exception to when the spam post is made. So my post is an example of this, asking for the file. Or you can ask for some other sort of thing like application version, OS or whatever else might not be mentioned in the first post. If we get some valid feedback from the OP, then great! We might have an actual person with a real problem we can help. There are 2 reasons for leaving a (potentially) incomplete tandem spam thread in place. 1. A real person may actually have this problem and find us to post about it. This has happened here in the past. 2. It can be an example of how to identify spam posts.
  6. Yes it is happening with TH/Threshold users as well. There are many posts on technet about complaints about this or that, including the file association one. The responses from the MS employees there are that x is by design and if it is a problem, to use the feedback tool. That's fine for your regular bugs but this file association thing is different. You've been able to do an in-place upgrade with past OS versions and not have this happen. I saw this was widely reported when built 1511 came down and that was installed with an in-place upgrade rather than a regular update install. So someone changed this behaviour out of the blue. Then again, they did remove repair installs after XP, just to bring them back with 8. And they changed that where it will uninstall all your programs including drivers. I haven't seen any complaints about that. At least it tells you what will be removed before doing so I guess. :\
  7. Is this file available for public review?
  8. Have you modified a file in such a way where a quote mark (or similar type character) was accidentally removed? WScript is a .exe and I wouldn't think it would show up as being "undefined" unless the files were modified or you are using a lited OS.
  9. So far it seems that voice recognition is more generic and not like you see in Star Trek where the computer can tell who is actually speaking. So the ability to remotely order other people's devices is quite possible. This happened when Xbox One launched and during games people would say "xbox shut off" into their mic and other people in their game would suddenly disconnect.
  10. Well sure, I was more likely to believe that in the 90s, where plenty of people were suddenly introduced by magic boxes without any previous experience with the things. Nowadays, things should have been different but strangely it isn't.
  11. It working safe mode gives you a clue that it is caused by something in startup that doesn't load with safe mode. Have you gone into msconfig and disable all non-MS services and turn off stuff in the Startup tab?
  12. The people on level 1 of a call center are there typically because they wanted a job. The technical requirements are a lot lower for that position. Most call centers are promote from within, those who have the technical knowledge or ability get promoted to the higher levels. When I worked in call centers, level 1 or entry reps were like the "regular joe on the street" and the upper levels were the technies and computer nerds. With exception, of course, those who were technies but didn't have enough work experience so they started at level 1. And that is difficult position because a level 2 hire work requirement is experience in similar position in a call center, which means people who have real world technical experience will often get turned down for an entry level support job due to them being seen as over-qualified.
  13. In safe mode, create a new user account. Then restart and try to log in using the new account to see if explorer loads for it.
  14. The starting point would be to determine how you are doing to be deploying images. There are manual methods, using MDT, or the new thing: Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer. It would be helpful if you had some experience in deploying and servicing WIM supported OSes like Vista, 7, 8, 2008, 2012, etc because it isn't the same as XP. Either way, your first step is going to be downloading and installing the ADK for Windows 10.
  15. 1. What is PC Pro? 2. Is that a large man-sized rabbit that is taking your picture?
  16. Things that you do not say should be put into quotes. Unless you are super-secret MS representative?
  17. I just remembered, thanks to this quote, about my feelings prior to the new Update strategy for Windows 10. Before it came out, it was called the Chrome update method. Google Chrome updates itself in the background and you never can tell unless you check the version. I thought, well that can't be bad, Chrome handles that pretty well and I've never had a problem. But I forgot. I did have a problem. That one update a couple years ago that broke Flash. The one that prompted me to use the trick on Youtube to force the HTML5 video. Also the one that made it so I had to use a different browser on websites with flash. That's easy because you can have more than one browser open on the same computer. Not as easy to apply that to an OS.
  18. Which Gen Hyper-V? Please explain this RAM Loss. What is the bugcheck?
  19. A fuse is designed to make sure that an overload does not occur within the actual circuit design from a certain direction. It does not protect the entire circuit, but from the input. Static electricity does its damage by introducing current outside of how the circuit was designed. So having a fuse somewhere does not really help in that situation. Now having a storage with easily replaceable PCB components would go a long way towards that. If you pop that part then you can just replace that diode or resistor. The reason it is not easy now is mostly due to size of the components. A long time ago I read about optical circuits, but it seems that it would be too expensive to replace traditional electronics to see it any time soon.
  20. The first website I could think of for purchasing capacitors is mouser.com. I had used an intermediary to buy replacement caps from there when I got a free monitor that didn't work. Also, reusing capacitors is not usually a good idea unless you test them first. Most techs do not even test caps due to new ones being cheap and easy to replace.
  21. The DNS Server role is to provide name services to the computers within your internal network. It does nothing for the outside world.
  22. Without paying (just having an account) I think you only have access to the trials.
  23. We need some more specific info. Does it not show up? Can you not click in it? Can't type? Post button doesn't work? Can you click the mode toggle? There was a point in the past where some browsers/versions couldn't use both modes of the quick reply box. Others report things like inability to paste, use context menu, or word wrap doesn't work.
  24. Are you referring to the quick reply box that shows up below the thread? If you are using any script blockers, make sure to allow ajax.googleapis.com. Also the quick reply box has 2 modes. WYSIWYG or manual mode. You can toggle between the two modes by pushing the button in the upper left corner of the reply box GUI. A screenshot of what you see would be helpful if that doesn't help.
