A point was mentioned re XP has been around for a long time now. Everyone has got very used to it & tweaked it to their needs. Guess that's why there's some hesitation to change.
I don't find Vista to have many compatibility issues & have been testing it for quite some time. I just don't think its an easy OS to upgrade to atm. There's still many driver issues, not so many software problems. It will be some time yet afore it becomes my daily drive here I'm afraid.
The oem distro is generally located in Vista\sources dir of the share. You can add other dir in the root offcourse & code to that path for other installs of your apps etc.
You can easily make a silent installer (slimmed) & run with a UA install in setupcomplete.cmd or use wpi.... Guess it depends how small you require your disk to be? Most Vista UA installs are limited to a dvd anyhow..
Thats great you sorted your problem, however in the future please be more specific in your rerquest for help & if VLite related mention it in the first instance Do not post here. Nuhi has a whole section devoted to VLite so post there....
Thanks for the reply, just thought someone may have done this as Ryan VM has an addon to do same in XP. As I said before its no biggy & not an absolute necessary fix for UA.
Hi with this new patch for WGA kb940510 does not appear I can preintegrate into the source of UA disc as usual? Anyone know a way to pre register or install this patch? Noticed the WGAER_M.exe located in "SoftwareDistribution\Download\Install" following a windows update session. This runs following a reboot. This is no biggy but would be nice to have included.
Oem or retail shouldn't make a difference, don't know about using all versions on one xml, don't think its possible. You could certainly try making a AIO. There is a guide around the net for this somewhere.
I have successfully used my xml ans file from first use to present day only with minor changes as I progressed. You can always re run your xml through the waik for any image to validate & save etc.
That link you refer to is using a normal install disc. You can't use that method for an oem preinstalled os as in your case. Do some more searching there is a thread around where someone has a tutorial to accomplish this. I can't locate it myself atm.
