Why not boot abel after burn?
prathapml replied to doomstone's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Try burning to DVD at a lower speed. I've seen that disks burnt at high-speed don't boot. -
Hello SyncMaster710, Welcome to MSFN forums We are proud to have you here too!

There was this other packages that installed with "-k" instead. And then, the old method of "-s -f1"path to ISS"" exists too. Also, installshield logs were used by some people - you need to redirect "-f2"path to log"". I doubt the installer is anything unique. Pretty much the same InstallShield parameters are going to apply. I've given the ideas above, maybe someone else might be able to give more specific help if they knew your app. try the above, good luck!

I hear that using water cooling will reduce the working life of your processor. (eg: from 5 years to 2 years) Is this true?
-
I think its possible to change it at will. You just need to do it through REG.EXE instead of regedit imports. That way, you can specify the userinfo in your batch-file and it gets imported.

DigeratiPrime, me too Especially because google image search is misused so much for pr0n stuff searching (make 'em "large images" only results please ).

Common mistakes by non-native English speakers
prathapml replied to XPero's topic in General Discussion
I would say the main problem for those who make problems while speaking/writing english, is that their language of thought (or counting numbers) is their native language (i.e., not english). If they think in English while expressing themselves, it would all be fine. For example, a non-native english speaker will come up with the words for: in his native language, and THEN translate it into English - thereby making mistakes. Again, whatever is read/responded, will again be translated back into his native language by his brain, introducing possibilities of mis-understanding. No, don't look at me! I happen to think in English and THEN translate thoughts to words in my native language. -
If you don't want head-aches, keep IE-core. I guess Outlook Express and IE (main) components can be removed without any problem.

I Hate you guys! (You too, Gosh)
prathapml replied to lotsagigabytes's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I agree. Also, about updation and burn to CD, initially I would update the CD with new apps and tweaks almost everyday. But now its once a month - burn to CD-RW for myself, and CD-R for PCs at work. -
Its funny how "good" old days become when "today" is not good..

Registering Extensions/Associations - two methods
prathapml replied to Dobby's topic in Application Installs
Yep, that was sort of what I meant by "registered".If you are comfortable with batch-files, it is far easier to do it that way. Dump the .reg way. Oh, and its a good idea to NOT use absolute paths. Always use system variables. For example, Also, if you are able to use this method itself for all associating all your extensions, then announce your findings in the "Registering File Extensions Unattended (REG)" thread. Probably they might be interested to move over to a less-complex method. -
Tweaks I want to make (but can't seem to find how)
prathapml replied to JasonGW's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Ah, now we're getting somewhere. link to regshot registry monitoring - Read usage instructions and description there. Also, you aren't the only one missing something. There have been things things I wanted to do since six months, and then suddenly one day discover how it can be done. So keep on at it, it will pay off! -
fiels with mht extension can not be accessed
prathapml replied to zillah's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
first, if you removed Outlook Express using nLite, you might no longer be able to access .mht files. And then, I saw the above situation happen totally at random. Some machines seem to not be able to open MHTs, and others open it fine - but the OS and apps are all the same! -
Haha, You're obsessed! Why not just find out her name and soon enough google image search will throw up the same image in proper form.
-
man, this is a configuration where I was able to get Windows XPSP2 run decently (not slow): It could run office apps, play non-3D games, browse the web, etc. all pretty fast. And this was without using nLite. So yeah, if you are not of the category to install a thousand useless tools/games just for the sake of trying them out, then WinXP will run fine on the machine you describe above.

Tweaks I want to make (but can't seem to find how)
prathapml replied to JasonGW's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
umm.... Alanoll is the one who contributes the most! But when the search feature is not understood by some, it does lead to questions since what was posted above has been discussed for over a year. Anyways, try the regtweaks thread and you'll find all of the XP/2003 tweaks. For the Svr2k3 ones mentioned, those are winnt.sif settings. Good luck for your goal! -
Registering Extensions/Associations - two methods
prathapml replied to Dobby's topic in Application Installs
One thing you have to know, is the "assoc" command will work only for registered programs. So if you already have registered apps, associating the extensions is TEN TIMES easier (and better) to do via assoc. If you are starting from a situation where you KNOW that your app doesn't already have any entries in the registry, and its YOU who has to do it all, then the .REG method is good. -
comprehensive pre-configuration of IE6 in XP's uA
prathapml replied to prathapml's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Ah, okay..... NOW I get what you mean. Yes, that section _might_ be wrong - but somehow it has done what was expected of it, so I won't change it. BTW, rolling on the floor laughing at this: I was stunned where you got the numbers for that from! Then I noticed the download numbers. -
comprehensive pre-configuration of IE6 in XP's uA
prathapml replied to prathapml's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Of course, not *ALL*. But pretty much everything (about 99% probably) which is needed to be configured is on here. Alanoll and Yzöwl, don't confuse each other. Let me clarify that the first post in this thread, contains it exactly as it is supposed to be. There's no errors in it. -
bandwidth control for multiple comptuers
prathapml replied to XtremeMaC's topic in Networks and the Internet
Its funny that I see this thread *JUST* after closing this tab - AllegroSurf Please post back on HOWZZAT! -
Elaborate on your request please. You won't have anyone spending time on replying to your topic unless they see that you have yourself spared no effort on getting what you want. Which client are you using? What switches have you tried? What mode of install are you using? Is it being installed at T-12 or at GUIrunOnce. Details!
