  1. Enjoy!
  2. 1. open My Computer 2. Tools >> Folder Options 3. Click the "View" tab. 4. Scroll down to find the checkbox saying "Use simple file-sharing". 5. Remove the check from there and apply the setting. Now you will find the Security tab available.
  3. Remember: What if your neighbour has deliberately set up this "free wireless" so you use it, and he can sniff your packets!
  4. Yes, its possible. You need to use the H_KEY_CURRENT_USER in registry for the same entries instead of H_KEY_LOCAL MACHINE. Look here for details - link. Do post back if you have any clarifications to be made! Oh, and welcome to MSFN forums!
  5. Here's another addition, its been troubling newcomers too long. Let me quote myself.
  6. Its possible, but its not easy - WinPE is what is needed. You might probably find it not worth the time to get that working. Just ensure that these important values in winnt.sif are present: [Data] AutoPartition=0 [Unattended] Repartition=No FileSystem=*That will allow you full control during text-mode setup, regarding deletion/creation/formatting of partitions. So just have everything else automated except for the partitioning - which is actually a good idea since you would want to see that no unexpected/automatic decisions are taken by the setup. Oh, and welcome to MSFN!
  7. Aww **** the WINNT.SIF in all caps! That happens because of choosing the wrong file-system while making your ISO or disk. If nero, choose Joliet+ISO9660 file-system, and if cdimage.exe, use the "-j1" option for file-system. I've always had that file in lower case, and never once had a problem. I guess the guide gotta be updated with info about using the "-j1" instead... let me see what can be done about it! Also, its a bad idea to make a thread take off on a tangent - the last we knew was this topic being general tips for new-comers to get started, and suddenly this issue which was supposed to be posted in a new thread! This topic will be split into a new thread in 24 hours.
  8. hmm... bbdpbarker, Then it looks like this topic would be of interest to you - reseal office. Don't forget to post back with results!
  9. Doesn't look like pay. You can use utilities that will save incoming streams of audio into MP3/WMA. Further info would be inappropriate, so google! This topic is in wrong section, and will be deleted in 24 hours.
  10. Hello Tony, Welcome to MSFN forums and enjoy your stay!
  11. Obviously Opera! It has the best of both worlds. Far too many people chicken out of using it under 3 pretexts: 1. Its too difficult. 2. It has too many features. 3. They hate ads. answers: 1. Nothing ever was easy - if it was easy for you then it has got to be easy to hack into you. 2. yes yes yes, and opera is a browser that "grows" on you - the more you use it, the more you appreciate its feature set. 3. either go buy it, or take the "dark path" for removing the ads (the ads actually are unintrusive, its only text ads, and its what helps opera to keep its browser suite freely downloadable).
  12. No. Straight and serious!Viruses are needed sometimes, and since its going to be used in a sandbox environment, its going to be perfectly fine. People, please respond! Any info will be helpful. For example, if you keep noticing that a particular site infects you everytime you visit it, I need it. Or if there's some executable file causing a buffer-overrun error on win32 systems, its needed. Of course, sites where you can get notorious viruses/worms would be the best!
  13. * attached images removed Please host the files on a http server and use IMG tags instead of attaching images. You could use - http://eazyshare.com/
  14. Even a GeForce FX series (therefore entire family) is able to run longhorn fine at 1280x1024 with no extra drivers needed.
  15. It was only a suggestion. Use whichever one works properly for you - AND DON'T FORGET to post what did work for you!
  16. Go for XPlode 1.00 (yes, a version older than 1.12). Its stable, works without a problem on all (supported) OSes. Certainly, when there's some problem with your uA installs, you don't want to be left wondering whether the error was with your typos, or the app installer, or the post-installer (WPI/XPlode). Atleast some of the variables should be trustable - a sort of "guarantee" that you won't see it causing problems by itself.
  17. That can lead to problems later on. Keeping the folder how they were, and using cdimage.exe to optimize the ISO, would be a better approach but it depends on individual preferences - if it floats your boat, its fine. That practice comes from warez boards. Posting direct links is a liability to them (since the server can track-back and find the referrer), so people resort to using code tags and methods like "h**p" (fudging of links).
  18. IMPOSSIBLE for office2k3 to run on win98.Probably its officeXP, check! Assuredly, before that "one day" comes, win98 will be long dead and gone and useless for anything except to play old DOS games on. And that "one day", win98 will be worse affected than winxp.Keeping the OS up-to-date with the latest patches was a concept that was around since ages. Its only now that people becoming aware of how essential it is, and getting afraid (because winxp needs that on a regular basis) to run to an even worse OS. Show me IE6SP2 on win98. Its impossible. And most certainly, believe me you don't want to know what happens when an MBR virus latches on to a win98 machine.
  19. Yeah, don't blink, that's what the topic says! /me Needs some viruses to test in virtual machines, no harm caused to any living being, promise! gimme your viruses, or if there's some site where viruses (of as many categories as possible) can be downloaded, please post the address. *PLEASE* respond to this topic or PM, if you can help in any way. Thanks!
  20. I don't *EVER* do anything for the first time on my real machine. Everything has to be tested before going "live" once in VMware for me - it wasn't bought to lie unused!
  21. All this lord and master stuff is okay, but... Ahemmm.... why is foamy in your avatar showing the finger!
  22. no idea! (well yes, ideas are there but gotta be in front of the screen there to try those ) First, why not just use thundertbird or opera's M2 mail-client. Because IE is best avoided! But if you HAVE to use a browser for gMail, then opera8 (beta) supports it perfectly, and there's firefox too.
  23. Are you referring to this guide? - link
  24. Yes, you can do the same with your version as well.Run the "setup.exe" with the switch "/QB". For example: setup.exe /QBThis you can do from a coummand-prompt or batch-file. When you do that, office will install silently, and upon first run of any of the apps which is part of Office Suite, it will ask for key. Does it work now?
  25. Yes, you can configure it with maxthon (its based on IE itself, so you can move to it if you are currently on IE). If you'd rather stick to IE, there's a registry tweak to do it. Opera is also configurable easily for such "address bar completions". firefox, it probably wants an extension for that.
