That's just brilliant =)

I think you also need to take into consideration what theme you have selected. I personally have rewritten the luna and windows classic themes, copied by $oem folders, so that no sound events exist at all. There's a lot of different things to fully be able to have no sounds as default. But a good start would be this as a registry file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents] And you also need to add for default user and other users, i dont think there's a local machine location for it, tho i havent checked.

I'd check the computer with tools such as memtest, stressprime or orthos and such.

I have actually experienced someone doing this, being this stupid. The problem is the person doing the "blank copies" was an IT worker for years in the city's IT department. And no it wasnt me. I just couldn't wrap my head around it. How does people walk through life, really how is that possible. At first i couldn't really believe it was possible. Until i was explaining why the screwdriver had a dark tip on it otherwise shiny metal, when i was repairing a computer at one time. I've seen ufo's and other things that are normally hard to explain, but it doesnt even come close to this i think.

What jaclaz says here is true. A old webcam i have a logitech pro 4000, was at first not x64 supported, for years even. But lo and behold after many of us writing about, asking for support, on forums and sending emails, it finally came through. Concerning camcorders i really dont know what would be the "best" or "right for you". I do however like how the storage medium behaves, if it's recorded to a dvd disc or harddrive. Of course the optimal solution for any hardware to operating system based would be that it would be driver-free. As an example I went through many usb mice and finally ended on a steelseries ikari, which provides 1000hz natively without a driver. Comparing it to logitech mice with setpoint drivers needing 45mb processes running, this kind of thing is just awesome. Back on topic, i have seen some nice things from Samsung, they produce nice monitors for sure, but i also came across a usb printer which really looks nice at least : http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/...cd=SCX-4500/XAA Coincidentally it's x64 supported. Shame it's only mono color i think.

nLite GRRRRRRRR! could there be an easier way to put programs in n
TranceEnergy replied to debray6379's topic in nLite
I think it would be great if nlite automatically also called for pizza for me so that when the windows installation is done, the pizza arrives at the same time. No seriously, that would be awesome! Well now i'm hungry .. =) -
You have configured something wrong. Recent replies, not historically speaking.
-
No not at all. Im just saying it would perhaps be more appropiate that it was in its own topic. You can always pm nuhi if you like, which would be recommended if you want to translate nlite. If you didnt want to start an discussion on it, then it's kind of not logical you posted these posts in the first place.

Did you ever find a solution? I used to be an nvidia user, and i also had some negative experience with that. Such as corrupt files when copying files across disks and such. The remedy was to not use the drivers for the onboard ide-raid devices. This was a couple of years back. I know this doesnt help, but sometimes hardware is just the suck.. Maybe you could look into my ryanvm thread and see if you find any interesting KB that might help the situation. I run a install with every one of these kb's installed and it's absolutely awesome.
-
Absolutely. I'm just saying. =) Personally i think a hardware manufacturer that doesnt provide 64bit drivers, can't be taken too serious. Just my pov tho, doesnt mean only 32bit devices are bad, but i'd rather have something that as you point out, really is supported. What price range are you looking for? The samsung vp-mx10 a mpeg4 camcorder, quite cheap i think, has x64 drivers as far as i can tell from looking into it.

A last session preset or such would help. Naturally you should stay clear of removing anything USB related to keep HID service working perfectly. Im not sure, but the first thing that popped into my head was terminal services, but that may be totally unrelated. As i said, i can't remember exactly, and my memory can't be forced =( As far as removal of components goes, if things will work or not, is always a question of what hardware the computer has. As a thumb rule, older devices needs things like those under "hardware support", newer devices most likely doesnt. And that again, is of course also dependent on the version of the driver of the hardware.

I think you should have started a new thread instead of hijacking this sticky thread. As far as registry myths go, a lot of that information on that page you linked to, is actually out dated. Also things are relative, on a slow enough computer having registry size of 10mb vs 60mb is going to make quite an impact on shutdown, startup , logins etc and many other things. Some of the xp myths there are as they say, but understand that the page is written in a way so it is perceived as popular and or logical. #5.1 : DisablePagingExecutive Disable Paging Executive Negative Low Memory Systems, Neutral or Partial High Memory Systems [HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management] "DisablePagingExecutive" Myth - "Setting DisablePagingExecutive to 1 improves performance by preventing the kernel from paging to disk." ''Reality - "DisablePagingExecutive applies only to ntoskrnl.exe. It does not apply to win32k.sys (much larger than ntoskrnl.exe!),'' - This is actually a false reality. And it is dependent on the windows source. On my system the ntoskrnl.exe IS larger then win32k.sys. Not only that, the impact of what kernel, for heaven sake, naturally makes a larger impact then most if not everything else. '''the pageable portions of other drivers, the paged pool and of course the file system cache. ''' By the nature of what the kernel IS, this is also false. ''All of which live in kernel address space and are paged to disk. On low memory systems this can force application code to be needlessly paged and reduce performance. '' - Read where it says low memory systems. Then take into account what ddr2 memory costs nowadays. As always, things are relative. ''If you have more than enough RAM for your workload, yes, this won't hurt, but then again, if you have more than enough RAM for your workload, the system isn't paging very much of that stuff anyway. This setting is useful when debugging drivers and generally recommended for use only on servers running a limited well-known set of applications." - Source - Source 2 - Source 3'' - My point exactly. I will decide if i want paging to disk or not when i got the memory enough anyway. Why tire out my harddrive? Screw that. On your #2, well probably it is dependent on whatever default VGA driver you got running. This isnt my area tho, but i would assume thats a logical guess. on #3 For such things, with network settings, personally i have found it makes a difference whatever network settings are enabled, and if things are running in unattended mode, and of what kind of unattended (hide pages, fully automated or whatever). Not that i can explain why or the correct way. Perhaps unattended.msfn got more info. on #4.1 and #4.2 I really am not in a position to help with this since i dont a) read german , and B) got a german windows cd like you do to try and troubleshoot the issues. I think i have already answeared the rest.

As one would do with anything else, 64bit or not. Research. I'd send an email to sony support if they have support for your devices or not.
-
Bruce : Yes. If that didnt work, there would be dozens of replies that it doesnt work. You have configured something wrong. Wkjun: 1. nlite have rewritten some files if you have removed things, obviously things then get unsigned 2. It depends on the resolution, best if integrated display drivers of course. 3. No 4.1 Are you sure it should exist? 4.2 That is impossible if you have localized source and settings. You are asking the install to be both, yet you also say it cant be. It's either both or neither. 5.1 That depends on the source. 5.2 That maybe because of your localized custom source. 6. Also works here.
-
What services you got running? Terminal services, protected storage, cryptographic etc? Event viewer logs?
-
Briefly looking into hid service, it does point to winsta.dll. I remember having the same issue that you have here but i dont recall what was needed to not remove for it to work.
-
Well if are you mixing 32bit and 64bit binaries, isn't a good idea. I'd look up kurt aust's thread and unattended.msfn for information on how to properly create a windows install medium.
-
as 5eraph also points out, it's with sp2 for xp x64. Neither 5eraph's update pack nor the complete list i've got on ryanvm contains sp1 hotfixes that i know of. I know it can be displayed as missing driver under device manager, but this is a sound card driver issue not anything to do with any Microsoft KB's.
-
How do you expect that to help with nlite development that you fail to make a proper windows install cd? If you could come up with a detailed problem then that's good.

Well finding drivers sometimes is a very long frustrating experience. I for one, need to extract the vista x64 Display drivers, to find the drivers for "native sata controller" for my xp x64 os. It really doesnt make any sense, but it's just the way it is. I dont need the drivers, there's nothing i gain from it that i know of, but i still kind of like it anyway. True ATA ports is an IDE port from the 80's, dependening on one's point of view, so that may be right in any case. However, it is not and cannot be, an excuse for why its not in the bios, as the two things, sata and pata ports and the sata legacy and or native mode, has nothing to do with their physical connection ports , sata or pata.
-
Whatever you may have heard, if its the kb i think it is, its a SP1 KB. The version of the hdaudiobus.sys is the same, so best forget about it.

Got admin rights? Tried taking ownership?

I have yet to hear about some computer's bios that does not have the option to disable ahci feature for sata. There's also tests showing there's just negible gain, and sometimes loss of performance for enabling it. For one you need to have the os installed with the driver's textmode driver, or booting the os with systemdrive set at ahci will fail. Vista doesnt need it because it comes with updated drivers. If you have a pre-vista os and the driver integrated, it will work just as happily with it as vista. Well even better actually but let's not go there. Yes you can integrate the driver with your os, and still install the os with the native ide mode enabled for your sata drive. Just because you have integrated drivers into the install medium doesnt mean it becomes necessary to put every driver to use. I suck at explaining but hope this helps.
