Because it supports more storage, and vista eats gigabytes as we all know. Also it would allow to perhaps integrate every language pack there is.

Search in tweaks sub forum youll find answear there, or try looking in bitbucket in registry yourself, only address i remember atm.

xp x64sp2 This is true, but i found that the .net 3.5sp1 installation still writes a couple of files to %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322 but not to the Framework64\ folder tho (weird) Dot.net 1.0/1.1sp is still installable on xp x64 but it will give warning on install that it was not made for 64bit etc. I dont know of any apps that uses 1.1 that doesnt work with .net 2.0 or greater.

nuhi: I was slipping in sp1 all language version and 1 language pack + the 2.08a fox vista sp1 pack, and the result was that vlite tells me that the install file is larger then 4gb so it might not work, and it wouldnt have since the iso was probably like 5GB. So two questions: Blue ray support? And would it be possible to make the install file split in several files? So i can use several dvd's which i did one time before like half a year ago. I had to remove all other languages and drivers, but i didn't like that (means i have to input back drivers in vmware if i want to proper test it there)

Well i know of a crazy insane person that just took vista dll files that made his xp sp0 faster and used that and it worked, at least thats what his website said. So with a good possiblity of leading to a bluescreenodaddy you might want to get hold of a ntdll.dll from a different servicepack/windows os version. I'd try if i could to test in a VM first.

Yep we're all mind readers here at msfn. I suggest you 1. uninstall all involved parties 2. run ccleaner and jv16 registry cleaner, possibly also run windows own disk space cleaner, erase system restore if u have that crap enabled 3. Reboot and repeat step 2 4. reboot goto safemode and rinse again. 5. While in safemode run Driver Sweeper and or also "Drivercab cleaner" from the DriverCleanerpro program, in safemode yes. (make a backup first doh) 6. Clean as a whizzle mostly. Goto systemdrive enter explorer search search for any file containing flash inside installer folder, or better yet just search whole windir. Look for flash msi files or similar and delete whatever crap you find. Run ccleaner and jv16 etc, again. Also of course, check for viruses etc, if you dont want to install an AV program get Clamwin. Thanks.

Martin H : Dont stop pouring out such useful information, i freakin love it! I didnt know! However i can't use it since i keep Foxit reader and many many other programs(just counted, 120 portable programs + games) on a different partition then systemdrive, so i just import that registry at installation, and it will be valid when i have set partition letters correctly. Which is just about the only thing i havent made into an automatic event yet. Thanks again, keep it up! B)

HOWTO create a fully up to date XP x64 DVD (EoL Feb 2016)
TranceEnergy replied to Kurt_Aust's topic in nLite
Ok thanks kurt, i couldnt see it in Add/remove control applet either. I'm going to make a batch file removal for it. About virtualbox, it would be nice with some links to such software, vmware server etc that people can download. I'm going to add that in my 150+hotfixes thread for x64, a thread which doesn't work btw, lol. Well Virtualbox is out of the question for me, as i use custom path to D&S. quote: The new Sun VirtualBox insists on keeping its own settings files behind the \Documents and Settings folder in Windows XP. But because there's special permissions applied to that folder -- at least, since a handful of security updates -- the 2.0.0 build, for some reason, is not identifying itself to Windows as a properly authenticated process. So it cannot back up the previous settings files to the same folder where the Innotek version had no trouble with them before, nor can it create new settings files in that folder. btw: i found 92 non-english files under "%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1" -
That's sad new sharky, perhaps you could try to at least release the big version releases, forgettin .xx releases and sticking to 10.x/11.x etc. Just a thought. You going away on new job or something since you dont have time for it? Alternatively i kinda like foxit pdf reader and pdf-x change viewer, both free pdf readers, working also as portable programs.

Could you please provide Operating system, service pack version, and name of host/client OS, etc etc. Just provide details. If i understand your post correctly, though i doubt i do, could you not just remove winlogon.exe from allowed ras clients? I have no idea how winlogon could do that or even if you are correct that it is winlogon.

Read the F. Manual xD Otherwise google manufacturer's website for assistance. General tip: Hit tab key on computer cold turkey startup to see the "dos screen", if you already do, look for things like "Hit Del to enter setup", only you want to enter Bios upgrade. This way you dont need a bootable floppy disc as long as computer can read your device. General tip2: Older computer's dont normally have a hot key to enter bios updater, so you have to anyway lookup website and download the bios update with also a boot floppy. Welcome to the forums, you posted in wrong category btw. B)

HOWTO create a fully up to date XP x64 DVD (EoL Feb 2016)
TranceEnergy replied to Kurt_Aust's topic in nLite
Kurt do you know of any install options for .net 3.5sp1 so that it doesnt install asp.net f.example? -
Okay i didnt think/know where it come from. Well, i am going to try and remove it. xp x64 here. edit: 7KB , edit: 9kb, batch file did it ;D , added asp.net for removal, 3300 files+ total now... Haven't added registry removals on it yet tho. Bonus!: I can also delete this service now: Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service desc:Provides ability to share TCP ports over the net.tcp protocol. I most certainly dont need it, at least not that i know of any programs using it. Sorry for offtopic, but the password on services, how can i see what they are? I want to know if i need that password if i want to re-create the service, but i guess i can set my own password then. Still i'd like to know how to get that password. I tried a program called asterisk password or something, it didnt work.

Awesome, im up on 2800+ files in my batch file system now, not touching driver.cab yet xD btw do u have removal for windows cardspace, going to check it, downloading new version.

I love you nuhi I had renamed Common files folder myself in winnt.sif and some files didnt install to those folders anyway so it was kind of annoying. ( i renamed "common files" to "cf")
-
Well come on, all it would take is a file saying what components has been removed, then nlite reads the file and says. Please use a clean source. However, i get that whole AI isnt going to happen. Regardless, I more or less always use a clean source for real installs anyway, and would recommend doing so to anyone. Even tho it's annyoing to integrate same things over and over again.

need small script to check size of folders run at cmdline..
TranceEnergy replied to TranceEnergy's topic in Software Hangout
Interesting idea Yzowl, however the directories i have never had a problem with them being recreated, they are merely a culprit of the windows installation and nlite renaming the folders. I mean: The directories are there upon first boot after install. I've tried telling nuhi several times over the years, but it seems to be a problem that just wont go away. And i dont really know what causes it any more, but i know that nlite doesnt rewrite or fix all files to the new program files/64 bit & x86 path. Still, i think i might attempt that. This makes me think further. You know desktop.ini, well it is hidden by registry, and some of them can not be found with windows explorer, you need 3d party tools to see them all. So possibly find what registry key can help with that and make these two empty files with the names of "program files" and "program files (x86)" hidden from there. I mean so you can't see them even if you have enabled to see all hidden and system files in windows explorer. Having said that, it would be nice to really be able to get rid of all desktop.ini files. -
Thanks, but it's so many scenarios to test, it would probably never be done in time as a one man task. Yesterday i had done a new install and when i pointed mousepointer to control panel, explorer would quit, it took me 10 seconds to figure out the problem with a nice program called procmon, process monitor. Turns out i had forgotten to reinstart "alternate sorts" under regional settings in windows registry (i import keyboard, mouse etc settings at install).

Never mind, i had forgot to add, "" to some files, it should work now.. This thread can be deleted.

SC create/delete/modify services command
TranceEnergy replied to TranceEnergy's topic in Software Hangout
I've done some more googling on "sc create" command and it seems to just be able to create a service that points to a exe file. Well i deleted Hidserv service and want to re-create it but i cant seem to find what exe to point it at, doesnt seem to exist? At this point i think maybe it would be better to be able to move the service data in registry to a bakup location in registry, so it doesnt appear in services.msc etc, and not available for windows, but one are able to restore it then? -

Do you mean that the program simply just stops and disappears or do you get a error message?

TranceEnergy replied to TranceEnergy's topic in Software Hangout
jaclaz on post #8, no i didnt just copy &paste and cross fingers, i tried modifying it, but to no avail. That you consider me ignorant, well thanks. Yzowl: Do not confuse my disappointment in myself with you or any one else. Sometimes it's just frustrating when in my perspective at least i try and make it work, and nada. I appreciate your efforts i really do , but people learn things differently, i learn better from seeing how things work in the example i set forth. I wrote that i specfiically had two folders named what i said, so i dont know how much more better i can give a real world example. FYI i was writing arexx scripts, that did these kind of operations back in the days on bbs's, but that was a long time ago, and i'm more into other stuff like photoshop etc, iow scripting doesnt really interest me anymore, i just had this particular task it would be great to just get done in a safer manner. I see many people asking for help, and why can't i thought. I found some links on the subject syntaxes and all on ss64.com, maybe i can read up when i have a moment. -
need small script to check size of folders run at cmdline..
TranceEnergy replied to TranceEnergy's topic in Software Hangout
jaclaz: Yes i tried that. If i hadnt then i wouldnt have posted back that it didnt work eh, as in it doesnt remove the folder that is empty. The script Yzowl posted seems to make sense to me, and since it doesnt work, im kinda clueless for the time being. I've tried removing various symbols and so on, and i dont get any effect. I know that DU.exe can work and do the job because it outputs info with the example you just posted. I honestly can't see where the error is. editIt looks like the output of find goes to nul which is what? now outputting to nil: on amiga would just make it disappear. nul means errors are hidden, hidden how? If i just run Find "0 bytes" , find starts and seems to do nothing, and output is nil, lol. I didn't realize i had to sign up to dos classes to get help. I wont bother this forum with such questions again.
