This is just a guess. Try keeping modem support and modem drivers. You might not need modem drivers, but maybe.

AFAIK nlite add each chosen driver to its own folder. So thinking logically, it would not run into duplicate file names, as each chosen driver inf file and those drivers that are in that folder, are copied to its own folder that goes into the windows image. However, having said that, if you have 2 drivers that are basically the same driver, but just different version, that might be a problem if windows cant tell the difference properly. I think you just have to test in order to be sure.

From Nlite Runonce would a be one way. Just export keys from registry that u wanted imported.

Check what tweaks you have enabled.

you dont need to make a limited user account if you will not use it, it would be a bit safer to use a limited account on every day use. You have to decide this for yourself. I always run full admin. about your run in with automatic updates setting, i have never encountered such a problem as i either fully disable it, or remove it. I have never tried other options, lol, so dont know.

I dont xpize unfortunately, no 64bit support, sigh.. I would disable SFC if i did something as system interrupting as patching all system files with 3d party tool. Actually, i think u must more or less. Tho i dont have much experience with xpize, i cant see it being done properly without sfc disabled.

I usually always disabled/remove netbios, and such things i dont need. Alway worked fine here. I think perhaps your tcp/ip sync limit is a bit high tho, do you really need 16million half-opened connections opened per second? Sounds a bit excessive, even for me. Pre SP1 limit on xp was 65536 and is more then enough.

Off topic: Have any of you tried to erase all the different language files that is in adobe cs3? Make it english only? There's an insane amount of different files and registry settings going into the system when installing entire adobe cs3 suite, as it supports about 25, 30+ perhaps languages.

Anything particular u think about? I have removed several of these already, i did a fresh install, i didnt let nlite remove everything, but very lite, no ie or wmp. For some weird reason Automatic updates were not removed, i did however update with hotfixes, but no IE updates. Kinda strange. However i managed to remove all windows update files i could see, typical wu*.* and the service too of course. I have problems deleting some files, like one of the dhcp files, but i reckon once i force registry permissions, id get that. Gonna read up on bold fortune and make a check list later. Hold your cd or dvd close to bright light and look for transparency on the disc. This usually shows signs of defective/aging media. To fix light scratches on your cd's and dvd's, clean it with toothpaste and water, gently.

I took xp x64 with sp2 integrated, checked to remove everything, made unattended, and patched sfc, and applied tweaks: I just noted down a few things in \system32,i found which perhaps isnt properly removed? As jaclaz said. Personally i long found burning on dvd-rws to be the most reliable method, and also a bit faster. I recently installed on a old cd-rw and caught myself going back to the computer and got shocked as the install wasnt finished yet. I install windows more regulary then people have sex and go take a dump, so i really feel it was just slow.

Actually this is very very easy to solve. Indeed its so easy to solve its called EasyBCD =) It lets you configure multi booting like nothing else, ive tried it and it works awesome. It also solves a whole range of annoyances with having linux, vista, windows all kinds of different operating systems on same system. I strongly recommend you check it out.link here.

It shouldnt be any problem applying them registry things while in normal mode as opposed to safemode, but maybe you need to take permissions of some folders inside regedit. I only searched for the word floppy, there could be more, but i actually doubt there would be much more, being there seems to be just 2 .sys files anyway. Buying a usb floppy drive is more of an investement, and saving me the trouble of ever having to install a internal floppy drive again, on any computer i have. It might cost a bit, but its more then worth its coin in the long run.

Any of you know a good way of testing firewall/security? I ran thru grc.com with flying colors, full stealth, tho i have browser header enabled, thats about it. Possibly start its own thread would be neat. as in Check your firewall here or something =)

I am totallly not familiar with your software product. However, one thing that comes to mind is that perhaps this is a jpeg2000 format issue. It uses .jpg file extensions and so on, but is a bit different. First things first i'd check with microsoft website if there is any jpg plugins for your program. To cut to the chase: id get hold of XnView, a outstanding image viewing program, available in multiple languages and versions including portable, and open the picture from there and select properties and see what format it is. Also you can export to the various jpg formats. It might not be jpeg2000 but being as you can preview them newer but not older, something definitively is a bit weird You should get Xnview anyway if you dont have it. Could possibly try to open files in Gimp as well.

For vista/vlite perhaps. But i was able to install x64 updates using xp32bit. Tho slipstreaming is not going to happen.

And that came as a suprise because? If you want to slipstream into something, you must do that via vlite as you know.

Device manager, find monitor, right click and select power managment, disable as u want. Control panel , Task scheduler there, Remove multi trancsient manager, at least disable. Close all and reboot.

Go to control panel regional settings, and once in program there, select the tab to the utter right and you should see that you can change system locale. That is what you want to do. Tho i wouldnt do that if u play online games with punkbuster. Strange compability issues there.
