  1. The number of emojis has massively grown in that three years probably! I must say I was a bit surprised that when you open it, it just shows the usual text symbol table. I was expecting it to show a huge table of emojis!
  2. When I sorted out the folder and then tried to install the font it said it was already installed for me too, so I guess it happened automatically when I copied the file to the folder. It was still good to have the full functionality of the folder back though! Here you go. seguiemj.ttf
  3. I just did this, and I now have emojis in Instagram comments on 360Chrome 13.5, which were all just rectangles before! They're only black and while, but that's a great improvement. I had the same problem with the Fonts folder, and doing a repair with TweakUI made no difference. What did fix it was adding the system attribute to the folder, which must have got lost somehow back in the mists of time. My seguiemj.ttf file is dated 07/12/19. It came from a Windows 10 21H2 ISO.
  4. Yes, I realise that now! I misinterpreted what you said in the PS of your post earlier where you said "I disabled the AU Service". The service starts anyway even if set to 'manual' so it might as well be left on 'automatic', as you say.
  5. I've now discovered that if I disable the Automatic Updates service, I get this on every boot in the Event Log. I guess you just can't win! I'll re-enable it again.
  6. Thanks @AstroSkipper. That all makes perfect sense, and as you say if AU can't be made to work properly, it might as well just be disabled. It's not like it's ever going to find anything now! Cheers for the great help as always, and sorry for the delay in responding. Dave.
  7. OK, no problem with either issue as far as I'm concerned, they don't affect the usability of the browser at all. I guess the first tab may not be trying to connect to anything at all, I've looked quite a few times and while the browser always seems to have a connection or two going, there is no consistency in fact as to what addresses it's accessing. It could just be that the loading of the first tab can't complete for some other reason. As for the Chinese button, interesting that the Russians didn't translate that either, I guess as you say its label is a bit buried somewhere! It's the only bit of Chinese I've spotted in the GUI, so you've done a pretty thorough job everywhere else!
  8. Just to update, it seems that a maximum of five entries are shown in the downloads menu. After that, only the most recent five are shown, and the button with Chinese on it appears. I guess that's so you can go to the Download Manager and see the downloads which are no longer displayed. I would thank that 'All' would probably be the right labelling for the button in that case.
  9. It opens the Download Manager. It only appears when there's several entries in the list (perhaps more than six?) so it could be an "All" button, maybe that is the most that can be displayed there. I can do some tests on that if you like.
  10. Another bit of residual Chinese I keep meaning to mention and forgetting!
  11. There is, using ProxHTTPSProxyMII Rev3e apparently.
  12. @AstroSkipper FWIW, the warnings in my Windows System Log about the AU system not being able to connect are still there.
  13. Do not mention this subject again here. You have already been warned about this by one of my fellow moderators who isn't as lenient as me!
  14. Back on topic please guys, this is not a thread for discussing Windows activation issues.
  15. Fair comment, and can I remind everyone that any discussion of illegal activities is expressly forbidden here. Take it to PM if necessary, but conversations about dubious product keys are definitely not allowed on the open forum.
  16. My version of crypt32.dll is 5.131.2600.6459, same as yours, dated 7/10/13.
  17. I did read it, but I didn't try it because I wanted to eliminate the other possibility that we were testing one way or the other first. I will try it now. EDIT: OK I ran wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow in a command prompt. Is that all I need to do? Everything else was already as stated.
  18. Sorry to report that about 20 minutes ago, the error message came up again, long after the machine was up and running, with HTTPSProxy active. So, it's nothing to do with the check happening before HTTPSProxy is started. Either the automatic checking system isn't using HTTPSProxy for some reason, or the mechanism is failing due to some other cause. It is strange that checks using the website are fine, and updates are being automatically offered again if they're needed as soon as they're removed, but the routine regular check for updates done by the system is failing. It's not a big issue of course, as there is almost zero chance of an automatic check ever finding anything now, but I'm a bit of a completist, and I'd like to see everything working again!
  19. Thanks all. Just to report no sign of the error message again so far. If it doesn't appear tomorrow or the next day I think we can assume that delaying the automatic update services until after HTTPSProxy is up and running has fixed the issue.
  20. Both files are fine, no complaints from Malwarebytes at all!
  21. Wow, thanks, I was going to ask about the command prompt window sitting there for a minute on every boot! I will see how things go with the error messages and let you know. I'll need to wait a couple of days as they only seemed to appear on alternate days anyway.
  22. Thanks both, I'll give that a try and let you know! I'm still not certain that the services starting before HTTPSProxy has started is the cause of the error messages, but this should prove it one way or the other. Just one query, why would i need a second batch file to stop the services if I'm shutting down anyway?
