  1. MAMEUI claims support for XP - current version 0.234 I tried the 32 bit build from here and after a few minutes of waiting, it started I can even try to emulate an AthlonXP system on my AthlonXP system, lol https://i.imgur.com/QCA5K7v.png [edit] The 32 bit build of MESSUI v0.234 works as well. It even started in less than a minute, yay!
  2. @bob_smith Have you thought about trying MESS / MAME ? I haven't touched that since before the merger, but it probably progressed a bunch for the last few years... There were many third-party frontends in the past too. I posted a few links here.
  3. No ATI/Nvidia, unless you manage to get GPU/PCI passthrough working on Windows. I think the last time i checked it was a Linux-only thing. The emulated video cards are pretty old. But at least they're based on real cards, unlike the kludge in VirtualBox Here is a page with some drivers. Some old docs, not sure how much it changed since 2012... Or check the config files for hints.
  4. They say auto-detection won't work (probably), it's on that page. P.S. added QEMU guide to last post
  5. Setting up networking in DOSBox-X WinPcap slirp (source only?) I'd go with pcap. --- How to Set up Virtual machines with QEMU GUI on Windows 10
  6. OK, just tried myself - same bug. If you disable the menu bar, the other interface with the "New Moon" button on the top-left becomes useable. Then, if you enter customization mode, multiple toolbars get stacked on top of each other... I don't see any possible causes for this bug in the changelog for that build - https://msfn.org/board/topic/182647-my-browser-builds-part-3/?do=findComment&comment=1202418 Maybe something related to this?
  7. @PPeti66x So, it is definitely a new bug. It might be worth checking if other video sites are affected as well.
  8. How are you even able to play YT videos with NM27, huh?! Anyways, try pressing Alt+V when the controls are missing. Does the menu bar show up? Only a menu without the menu bar? What is checked in View > Toolbars ? Also, check if it happens with a clean profile - copy your NM27 shortcut and add " -P" to the target field, so it looks like "palemoon.exe -P", start that and make a new profile.
  9. No account needed. When not set (first visit) it seems to pick your region somehow, i don't know how accurate is that with a VPN.
  10. Did you also check the region setting in YT? The prefered language in browser settings may play a role too. I can also see that only one tab has the speaker icon, so you either muted the rest, or they are not actually playing. Check the cert. path (last tab). The issuer has been trusted since 2000. Here on NM27 the root CA certificate for MSFN is valid for 01.Oct.2000 - 30.Sep.2021, i'm curious to see what will happen in october. I may forget about it by then though, as most of the time i see "Verified by: ProxHTTPSProxy"
  11. ??? Is it the HX build? Post a link to the Dosbox-X version you use! I can't find my crystal ball...
  12. No. Works fine on my AthlonXP 3000+
  13. This didn't work the last time i tried on XP. No clue how reliable it is on newer Win.
  14. You may try to bundle renamed copies of all direct dependencies along with Explorer.exe, no clue if/how it would work though. Right now Dependency Walker shows 18 .DLL files called by my current Explorer, 5 of those using delayed loading. There are some pretty critical ones in the list though, like Kernel32.DLL and NTDLL.DLL ... So, copy all those + Explorer.exe to a new folder. Rename all of them to avoid future clashing with the newer libs of the target system. You could i.e. change the first letter. Then use a tool like PPEE and change the imports of each file to the new names. Move the bundle to the target system and test what happens. You may find out that additional files are needed. Copy + rename + fix imports of the additional files, then test again. Repeat as much as needed. If you keep at it, you may end up with a huge pile of files in the final bundle. And it may still refuse to work, hehe. If you succeed in making it start, open some other file manager, kill all instances of both XP and newer Windows Explorers, then start only the XP Explorer. If you are lucky, you could be greeted with the XP Desktop and Taskbar. --- Now, if you get tired of trying to make the original XP Explorer.exe work on lets say Win10/11... You can try to simulate its look and feel by other means. But first, we have to separate the main sides of the XP shell, as each will probably need a dedicated solution... Windows (File) Explorer - there are many replacements, some simple, some with tons of extras. Few examples - Explorer++, ExplorerASM (Win9x look), XYplorer (paid). Desktop/Taskbar/Start menu - Object Desktop (paid) seems to be a complete bundle; ClassicShell/OpenShell with Luna skin (guide); skinpacks.com seems to have a few XP skins and helper tools (just found it, no clue how safe it is); also check this guide. what else? HTH
  15. Well, that came up when i searched for the game title. Got a link for the one you tried?
  16. Hmm, that uses Unity. Forget about running it on a P-III, that piece of sh!t needs not only WebGL, but also WASM (meaning SSE2) to start at all. If it is an older game, you may try locating a pre-conversion version on some dead archived site and play it through Flash or whatever it used originally.
  17. https://imgur.com/phz9LWI It clearly says DOSBox-X there... What kind of noise? Is this after you lowered the sample rate? If so, was there noise before doing that? Which build are you using exactly? The picture looks like "MinGW SDL1 drawn". Maybe try "MinGW SDL1 lowend" instead?
  18. Maybe SwiftShader or something similar could help. It would be very slow though.
  19. I just checked Dosbox-X, seems nice. Maybe a bit overloaded with options for you though. Configuration Tool > Mixer Increase buffersize and prebuffer (0-100%). This may make sound be delayed a bit. Reduce the sampling rate in the sound mixer, and also in the emulated sound card settings (SB, GUS, etc.). Use standard values like 22050 or 11025. This will lower the sound quality a bit though, Also try to free some CPU from other parts of the emulation - disable unused hardware like network, floppy, IDE ports, etc. Enable Frameskip - this is a compromise between speed (with "jumpy" video) and smooth video (but slowed down if host CPU can't keep up). Disable video scaler and V-Sync. Try Dynamic CPU core. Reduce emulated CPU speed/cycles. If nothing helps, try the regular Dosbox with the frontend from my first post. It has a database with settings for many games.
  20. That looks suspiciously similar to (old) TeamViewer interface... And they already charge for connecting to just 3 devices/month, ugh. Without looking any further i can safely say it won't come close to AnyDesk...
  21. As a reason to run DosBox, my guess is to use it as a workaround for missing DOS drivers (sound, most likely).
  22. I use D-Fend Reloaded, you can have separate configs for different programs, etc. Not updated recently, but it works for me.
  23. Another useful trick i just found about yesterday is that you can change www.youtube.com to music.youtube.com for a somewhat lighter viewing experience. Still, playback lags like hell here tough...
