  1. I had such a problem with a laptop that was stuck at very low CPU frequency (there was thermal paste on some parts around the CPU and it was messing things) - it was running at 300-800MHz most of the time instead of 2-3GHz, lol. Could you checkyour CPU with some real-time monitoring tool (CrystalCPUID, Aida64, etc.) while this is happening? Also, try to toggle the SpeedStep switch in the BIOS settings.
  2. Does it use bluetooth, or it's some noname wireless protocol? If the latter, it should work even without any OS. Check in BIOS setup, if it has graphical UI the mouse should work there too. Also verify your keyboard/mouse/usb settings while you're there Do you have a keyboard to go along with that mouse? Try to manually change the driver to usb composite device (or to whatever your other OS is using).
  3. It should have worked fine. What does Imgburn say about the disk in the "Information" tab? Did you check that DVD in another PC or OS? Are you sure the disk is not damaged (scratches in the innermost track, etc.)? Maybe it can't be read properly. Did you do a "Verify" after burning? Also, check that data disks burned elsewhere are recognised properly in your system. You can create an image of the disk, mount it, and see if it's recognised fine. Or check with another program like IsoBuster. If you have troubles with other data disks too, give the Panasonic DVD-RAM driver a try (it includes an UDF driver). I have used it successfully with my NEC drive. Here is a guide on how to make it work for non-Panasonic drives - https://club.myce.com/t/hacked-panasonic-dvd-ram-device-driver/102623
  4. @Dave-H Before restoring the backup, why not first try to make a clean install of the integral edition and see how it works?
  5. Wanna test something? Backup sector 0 of the drive, then fill it with zeroes. Then reboot and see if Windows loads. You can use i.e. the HxD hex editor, or the sector editor in Bootice, or some other suitable program.
  6. /off topic Yay, the spoiler tag in a quote seems to work properly ^^^ unlike the normal usage below...
  7. So, you were not able to solve this for over two months? And you still didn't answer my question?! Did you at least try the newer builds? That error isn't about missing mozglue.dll , a quick search for the exception number shows results associated with running programs under a debugger. Do you use a debugger or some kind of virtualisation there?
  8. As i understand it, it is some sort of a Javascript library that provides some specific functions. The one you hear about in here is the addon by JustOff to substitute the missing browser capabilities needed for Github and Gitlab - https://github.com/JustOff/github-wc-polyfill
  9. Not really a BBS, but i used to play the MUD game Medievia with my friends some 20-ish years ago. I see that it's still active, lol. Unfortunately, the client i used back then (zMUD) won't run in my XP. Here is a site listing current MUD games - http://www.topmudsites.com/ The Discworld one sounds interesting :P P.S. have you checked eXoDOS yet?
  10. @Dave-H There should be a readme.txt file in the driver folder, did you check it? Since you're able to boot XP in IDE mode, why don't do the modifications directly in XP?
  11. Whatever the latency, it sure beats swapping to the HDD. Don't bother too much with it. How many RAM slots does the XP system have? If it's just 2, you will get only 3GB total (1x 1GB + 1x 2GB). Anyways, just move the 2GB stick to the XP laptop and start testing. P.S. i found a site saying that the laptop supports 2GB RAM max, but it may have been that 2GB sticks were not available at the time of writing. Try it anyways, worst case it just won't boot.
  12. Not sure if it isn't just my bloated profile, but the last build of NM27 behaves kind of like St52, and not in a good way. Too often the browser gets stuck using all available CPU doing whatever. I went back to the previous build and it was fine Then i updated again to the last build, it is better now, but still (sometimes) there are those moments with non-responsive UI and 100% CPU usage. Does anyone else have a similar experience with the latest NM27 build?
  13. Looks like you don't. Start reading from the post by cdob. This is for the driver in the MovAX-Gen2 SATA driver v2.0 folder: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CriticalDeviceDatabase\pci#cc_010601] "Service"="storahci" "ClassGUID"="{4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci] "Type"=dword:00000001 "Start"=dword:00000000 "Group"="SCSI miniport" "ErrorControl"=dword:00000003 "DisplayName"="Microsoft Standard SATA AHCI Driver" "ImagePath"=hex(2):73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,00,44,00,\ 52,00,49,00,56,00,45,00,52,00,53,00,5c,00,73,00,74,00,6f,00,72,00,61,00,68,\ 00,63,00,69,00,2e,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,00,00 "Tag"=dword:00000021 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci\Parameters] "BusType"=dword:0000000b "IoTimeoutValue"=dword:0000001e "IoLatencyCap"=dword:000001f4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci\Parameters\PnpInterface] "5"=dword:00000001
  14. Well, not really why i pointed at that specific page... You need any compatible AHCI driver AND the "Critical device blabla" stuff in the registry.
  15. Why wifi stick, ethernet will do just fine.
  16. Remove the "echo OFF" lines in the integrator batch so you can see the actual commands executed. Have you seen this already?
  17. Install on a different drive, then once you confirm which non-standard drivers make it work you could port them to your old install. For a slipstreamed install i have used the one from zone94.com in the past. Also, if you can find a cheap deal for Acronis Universal Restore, it is very useful when moving your OS. Just make sure to get the version with support for XP !
  18. Hmm, look around yourself. How many people with 5G capable phones can you spot? My modem appears to be connected at 3.5GHz. Satellites have been bombarding us for decades in this band. Local cells will transmit regardless of whether i use them. And i can always fix some sort of metallic shielding under the modem if its own transmitter becomes a concern.
  19. My home is a few kilometers outside the city. Nobody would provide wired connectivity here, so i have to use mobile internet for the whole house. Until now i used a 4G modem/router, but the 4G license of my previous ISP expires in a week and they are shutting down that part of their business. That plan had 100GB monthly at "max speed", then limited to 256kb/s until the next month. My new ISP offers 5G without a monthly limit and 4G with 200GB limit. I just had a 5G modem installed on the roof today (about 10m. away from me in a straight line through the walls) Anyways, at least now i won't have to count the GBs, and can let my brother watch all the YT/FB videos he want on the TV downstairs. Now my dad wants an IPTV box, pfff... The satellite TV isn't enough anymore. Damn advertisements...
  20. And i just got 5G installed at home today... It was the only unlimited plan, the 4G offers give you 200GB "max-speed" traffic monthly, then switch you to the laughable 256kb/s after that is exhausted. About the pandemic, this was an interesting read...
