  1. Firefox Windows XP Service Pack 2 with all updates AVG Anti Virus scanner Windows Firewall
  2. Thanks for that, hclarkjr. I installed it and everything worked perfectly, though it slowed my OS down, guess I'll do a full install and slipstream in into a new CD then.
  3. So this is just a BETA version of the service pack, not the final version right?
  4. Of course it won't work. Why would Microsoft let people activate the RTM version of Vista with your free BETA key? As if Microsoft will let people obtain their products for free.
  5. I agree with some of the points to the person who started with this thread. And the Network Connections is just horrible, I don't even know how to configure it, I just went back to XP because there is a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo which isn't necessary. And the whole folder layout looks weird and crap. And some XP applications that isn't compatible with Vista is a joke too. Seriously, it took Microsoft 5 years just to create this OS and a whole bunch of stuff doesn't even work, just like IE7, I don't see any improvement at all.
  6. What version of Windows are you using? That only works for the english version of SP2 I think.
  7. Ok, I downloaded the trial version of it and I think its a decent software. Every time I boot up my computer and when it launches AVG into the background, it always automatically scan my computer, therefore it increases bootup time and makes everything slow. I tried looking for an option to disable it but I can't seem to find any. Is there a way to disable it? I find it annoying. Thanks.
  8. Download this patch and you can set it to any value. http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=downloads I recommend setting it to 100 open ports only.
  9. I use Winamp for music. I use WMP for videos only and thats about it.
  10. I think its stupid that the installer of IE7 is 11MB total, while Firefox 2.0 is just 5MB. How stupid, and you don't even need a previous version of Firefox to install version 2.0.
  11. I applied that hotfix and restarted my computer and the problem is still persisting. Thanks for helping anyway. Geez, I wish Microsoft would fix this, I mean, waiting for that update list to load, for like 5 minutes or more is ridiculous.
  12. Thanks, I used that Dial-A-Fix program, the problem still persisted. Thanks for helping anyway.
  13. Yeah, it means that you have those updates on your computer but they aren't installed yet. I've seen that on my computer before.
  14. I have an annoying problem with Windows Update. Every time when I load the Windows Update site, it takes at least 5 minutes just to load the update list, most of the time it sits there and does nothing, as I noticed my modem activity nothing much happens. Before that it took 30 seconds and now it take its time loading. I find this really annoying and I was wondering is there a solution to fix this bloody thing. Thanks for reading.
  15. Yeah, I managed to get the dump file, problem is that the file is over 50MB which I think is too big. Is there a way to minimize the file? Thanks for your help by the way.
  16. Thanks for that, cluberti. I've installed it and when it crashes, I'll try to find that dump file and upload it here for analyzing.
  17. I keep getting these stupid application error messages, saying "Click OK to terminate the program", "Click Cancel to debug" crap. I mean, I get it quite frequently and its getting on my nerves. I performed a search on the forum but too many results came up which didn't help. Help here please?
  18. IE7 was a huge disappointment to me. All the problems I had with IE6 apparently existed in IE7. And as I mentioned numerous of times, I really hate the layout and buttons, very confusing to use. Thank god Firefox 2.0 came out after the release of IE7.
  19. Yeah, how do you find out your score? Through the Vista DVD right? EDIT: Don't worry, figured it out.
  20. Yes I'm using an admin account. I had this problem with my previous installation and I formatted my computer and the problem is back again. Don't know whats causing it.
  21. Yes they do, I can still use the keyboard except Task Manager won't work, everything is still functioning except those programs, I have to perform a full reboot to resume normal work in Windows. I can bring up the start menu but it won't open the programs, it freezes there as well.
  22. Ok guys, I have some annoying problem with Windows XP. Most of the programs running on my machine, such as Firefox, MSN Messenger or BitComet, etc will freeze altogether. I thought this was a video card related driver problem so I updated it but the problem is still persisting. When the program freezes, I cannot open Task Manager as well, when I press CTRL+ALT+DEL nothing happens. I suspect its a software related issue or maybe a driver issue, but I don't know where to begin. My computer specs is in my signature and I'm using SP2 with all the latest Windows updates. Please help me here, thanks.
  23. Haha, thats really funny. Does it work for 9x operating systems though?
  24. I have this problem with Firefox 2.0, sometimes banners and images won't load on certain pages, thats like 3/10 that would happen. And also, pages refuse to load and Firefox won't start up unless I restart my computer. Is it me or do you guys also experience this issue?
  25. Windows XP x64 supports all my hardware, believe it or not, I'll avoid using it for the time being because some software aren't compatible with it, and I need those programs. Though I'm dual booting SP2 and x64 at the moment, I use SP2 most of the time.
