  1. You misunderstood what I meant: when you open a web page, you DOWNLOAD its contents. Killing the downloads will also kill your browsing. Hope I made it more clear this time.
  2. Wht don't you put the HDD back to IDE mode? Saves you reinstalling the system...
  3. The best way to accomplish your task is to get a firewall and kill the access to the known websites. You can't disable downloads per se and say that you manage to do so, then how will you receive useful data from the internet? EDIT: Forgot to say: welcome to msfn
  4. I ha d a similar problem when the Add/Remove section in Control Panel has vanished in thin air. The only (and last) solution was format and clean install.
  5. I would make a 12 GB partition on the new drive and clone the old HDD onto the new partition. But that's only my 2 cents...
  6. 82:59:00
  7. Change the mouse.
  8. You can't install the soundmax driver unless you applied the kb FIRST.
  9. Definitely the PSU. Maybe it can't handle the load (unlikely) or there was a shortcircuit causing the PSU to simply die.
  10. Funny enough, Microsoft's knowledge base doesn't have any results for 0x10000050 stop errors. This is what I recommend you to do: setup your pc for a complete memory dump, then contact cluberti and ask him nicely to have a look at your dmp file. He's the master of stop errors
  11. Have you *ever* created a restore point?
  12. Verrrrrry funny! Happened to me for real with a workmate from a different office that I didn't know. Didn't realise until we actually met.
  13. How did you get the CPU, RAM and other counters on your desktop? EDIT: Nevermind, I noticed the samurize icon in your tray
  14. mmmmmm beeeeerrrrrr.......!!! Good idea, sylvia, I might even buy you one for coming up with it!
  15. ripken, you're buggered
  16. I came across the very same situation in numerous cases. bonestonne is right:
  17. There is no need to reformat. Just uninstall the driver and proceed as I posted above.
  18. I would say that version of CD is warez... Comments?
  19. On your motherboard support CD you will find a folder named MSHDQFE which contains a kb executable. Install that first then update your sound drivers.
  20. Make use of the Administrator feature on Microsoft's site
  21. Nice... ResHack all the way
  22. See here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST...=34&t=93518 and remember to search the forums before making a post. EDIT: As i see this is your first post, welcome to msfn

You will have to CALL your nearest Microsoft office center and explain to them what happened. They will guide you through the process of getting a new media. PS. Take hint of what Jeremy said:
