  1. Copy the folder named Outlook from C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft from the old pc into the new one. Hope this will do the trick.
  2. Next time you boot up, pres F8 right after the POST and choose "Enable VGA mode". Whether it works or not, please come back here and let us know.
  3. Use an older version of Flashget. And remember: if it ain't broken, don't fix it
  4. Another vote for Pioneer. Good drives! (Have one at work...)
  5. Do any contacts show in the Contacts pane in Outlook in the new pc?
  6. Go in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft and copy the folder named Outlook from the old pc into the same location onto the new pc (that's if you`re using Windows XP).
  7. Unfortunately, it is if you can't get a POST even after having the battery out for one hour
  8. Gigabyte hides some advanced BIOS settings under the command Ctrl + F1, so next time when you enter the BIOS hit Ctrl and F1 and you'll see all the BIOS settings (including the settings for the S-ATA controller).
  9. The answer is simple: Windows 98 can NOT see NTFS partitions.
  10. ... yeah, playing cards
  11. Been there, done that. Ain't gonna use stripe ever!
  12. I would ditch ZoneAlarm altogether. It was a good app some time back, but now it reports too many false positives.
  13. Or use this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en
  14. ... and that's exactly what we want to determine
  15. Have you tried to plug it in a different USB port?
  16. @neo Don't rush! RAM may be OK and the error might come up from a bad driver or instruction @Xawix Run memtest86 (google for it) to see if your RAM is ok. If it is, read this: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=90244
  17. That should server me as a reason NOT to lend my USB drive to anyone!
  18. Thanks cluberti! Am downloading it now (while fixing a friend`s laptop) and will have a look at it a tad later. Will come back here with my findings (if any ) EDIT: Downloaded it as html file (the only option IE7 let me) then renamed it to 7z. Now 7z tells me it's not a supported archive Just to confirm that the file is 23.5 MB in size...
  19. I'd say mobo is dead. Somehow when unplugging the sound card either discharged or forgot the mains cord connected... EDIT: As a last resort, try and clear the BIOS.
  20. I tried to download the dump, but the link you provided doesn`t allow me to download (shows only gibberish ). How big is the file?
  21. Google is your friend
  22. If my 2 cents count, I would stick to XP, just as Jeremy and Jakebo said. Although I have Vista, my pc is running XP because I still am not happy about driver availability for Vista...
  23. The cargo company sure moved fast! I got the mobo today and installed it right away. I didn't have to set anything up, it started and entered straight into Windows (which required re-activation, of course). Now I have a pc that's up and running fine
