    aero

i have vista home premium and when i maximize my windows the bar around the outside of the window and the taskbar becomes 'not-aero' anymore, if i switch to another screen that is not maximized or when i am at the desktop it is fine, and if i resize the window it becomes 'aero' again. i was wondering if this is everybody or just me. if it is just me how do i fix it?
  2. i googled and couldn't find anything about this problem that i got a few days ago. it seemed to have appeared after the last windows update i did. sometimes when i am looking at pictures like on my web browser (firefox) or on my desktop picture i see many little green pixels semi randomly all over the picture, but they are only there sometimes, sometimes it is fine. also when i try to watch videos on windows media player the video will all of a sudden freeze but the sound will keep going in random parts of the movie, even if i am not playing the video from the dvd player. another place i tend to see dots all of a sudden sometimes is on the mouse pointer on the top right side. the dots arent actually on the arrow but diagonally from it, usually the dots look like they are trying to make a rectangle diagonally up and to the right. if i move into a text box to make the pointer change the dots go away then go back as soon as i move out of the text box. this also just happens sometimes. i dont know if this is actually a windows xp problem, but i could not think of anywhere else to turn. any help would be great, thanks. p.s. i have pictures so ask me and i will send them to your email or tell me how to post them on here and i will.
  3. You download and install DriverMax, open it, it will search for all your device drivers, you select the desired one and back it up to a folder. The next time you want to install that device, you just use the backup. This is what we do to avoid all the software bundles that comes with some of today's drivers, such as webcam drivers. Logitech Image Studio anyone? ok i will get the drivermax and unistall the soundMAX driver then install only the drivers.. i think i can handle that
  4. so i need to pull the plastic from the motherboard and move one pin closer to the other? or are we talking about the plastic on the female end that is attached to the case?
  5. the computer case i recently purchased is a nzxt duet, and the motherboard is an amd asus m2n. long story short, the L.E.D. Power female end on the case does not fit into the two pins of the L.E.D. Power male ends on the motherboard. the female end looks like it is for two pins which are right beside each other, but the male end is two pins sticking up witch a space between the two. it is almost as if the second pin on the motherboard was spaced one place too far away from the first. this problem is hard to explain so if i need to go into further detail i will try my best. basically i was wondering if this problem is normal or not. i am also wondering if there is some kind of an adapter to go between the male and female ends. thanks for all help anybody has. i have googled this problem and asked friends at school and nobody has ever heard of pins not fitting into the female ends. Note: it is only the power l.e.d. that does not match up, all other pins match with the corresponding female ends.
  6. so what do i need to do before i do what you have mentioned? i hope i will not need to reformat or anything. but i dont have much experience with drivers. this is the first system i have built... thanks for the help
  7. i looked into it but its kind of confusing to me this is the first computer i have built and theres something all over the internet about windows xp high definition sound package.. or something like that, i dont know if i need to install something extra to xp to make the soundMAX drivers compatible or what...
  8. i never liked ME personally... WinME and blue screen of death are best friends as far as i can tell.
  9. i just got my new system up and running finally completed (well kind of) it has an asus m2n am2 socket motherboard with onboard hd audio. the driver for the audio that came on the cd with my motherboard is soundMAX and it seems weird. sound levels settings are always being messed up on their own and sometimes sound will not come out of my speakers at all. i am wondering what i have to do to fix this problem or if i am allowed to install a different driver ?i am running windows xp by the way. thanks for any help. p.s. i am also having a hardware compatibility problem between the motherboard and nzxt case that i bought. it does not have anything to do with windows so i did not think it would be right to start a topic about this seperate problem if anyone is curious about the details just send me mail and i will send back the details the best that i can.
  10. ie7 sucks, i thought that ie6 was fine, but i think they screwed the user interface for ie7 completely. i hate using it. the only reason i am using it at this second is becuase im at school and they installed it on the terminal server and firefox can not be installed.
  11. space bar then... thank you i am at school right now but will do that as soon as i get home tonight. the reason i am upgrading my parents computer to xp is for multimedia purposes. i got my dad a turntable with usb interface so that he can record all of his old albums onto his computer and cds for listening in the truck and stuff. i heard somewhere that 98 was the best os that microsoft has made so far? i don't remember why or where i heard that though... edit: what do you mean by 'readable form' ?
  12. hey guys i was wondering if anybody could help me. my parents computer is real old is has win98 on it and so i put a new mobo and processor in it and was planning on upgrading to xp. before my computer will even boot up i have to go into safe mode and get the ndis fix on there which has turned out to be alot harder than i thought first of all the mouse wont work in safe mode it does not say that there is not a mouse hooked up it just will not move, so after that i thought that i could just use the keyboard, thankfully it works but everytime i put the floppy disk into the drive that has the ndis fix on it the fix is 'shown' as hidden and without a working mouse i was wondering if anyone knew how to change the folder options to show hidden files without a mouse? if anyone could help it would be great becuase im really in a rut right now..
