If your host system has XP, just turn on internet connection sharing. Your XP machine will give out the IPs on the NIC that is on the LAN. Then just bridge the two connections.

Quick way that I used when I installed a 2nd OS and couldn't get into my first one. Go to start->run->ntbackup. From there, click the advanced mode button. Click the backup tab and select which folders and files you want to backup. On the bottom left there's a box to input where you want the file and what name to give it. Don't get rid of the bkf extension. Click start backup. Now, go to restore, click the backup file you just created by clicking on the pluses beside the name. Put a check on the file/s that you want and click "Alternate Location" in the Restore files to: box. Click start restore. You'll get a Confirm Restore dialog box, on here, click advanced. Uncheck everything and click OK. Click OK again. There, you now have access to all the files. Make sure though, that you need to be in either Admin, or an acct. that allows backing up.

Well glad u fixed it. But that's a general rule when using IE. Don't really trust it. I only use it when I'm getting the windows updates. Other than that though, FF all the way.

I don't think it's a network issue simply because the transfers would be the same both ways. I can give you a similar situation I've had. My system has an 80GB HDD, and a 20GB HDD. When I copy files from the 20GB to the 80GB, transfers are fast. When I copy from the 80GB to the 20GB, transfers are slow. This happens because the 20GB is a 5400RPM drive and the 80GB is a 7200RPM. Also, the 20GB has an 2MB cache, whereas the 80GB has an 8MB cache. So I'll just ask, what HDD's do you have on both systems?

Yea, just look at how much better AVG anti-virus seems to be when compared to Norton. But I'd rather go with tried and true spyware scanners like Spybot S&D, or ad-aware.

It's possible that the files where corrupted. Try this, burn 'em to a cd or copy them to an mp3 player or another pc. See if they play there. If not, then it's possible that you had another codec that was used to play them, but doubtful. I don't know about anyone else, but I think u just learned a lesson in backing up ur stuff. SRY man.
