  1. Will you try it by yourself, if you open specific port and try the mentioned test you will get a positive result, from some reason I don't... Thanks. I didn't get a positive result, but my ISP stealths the ports, as does my router and my firewall.
  2. So how come when I try the test (Which tries to access a given port) it still doesn't work? Thanks. Did you have the program running? Even if it's open, it may still be stealthed by the firewall, or your ISP.
  3. From what I've heard, once a firmware update/downgrade has failed, the device is gone. I don't even think you can get the PC to recognize it since the firmware is what will tell the PC what to use for drivers.
  4. Looks like you may have some adware program, or maybe virus installed. Have you done a virus and adware scan?
  5. I don't see any pics. Just reinstall word. Get your disc and pop it in the drive. Go into Add/Remove Programs->select your office suite and click the repair button->uncheck word and hit next->once it's uninstalled, do the same thing to install it again.
  6. Any question on bypassing program locks aren't allowed in here. Even if you do say it's legit.
  7. In your PowerOptions Properties dialog box, in the advanced section, is the check box in the options part that says, "Prompt for password..." checked? Also, are you sure you are configuring the correct profile?
  8. Because the ports aren't being used, they will stay closed. It's a security meassure. They will open up when the program that's allowed to access them, accesses them.
  9. Well, you are proabably using NAT with overload right? Just add an access list. I'm basing this on what I think you are looking for. access-list 101 permit ip 199.99.99.99 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.2 0.0.0.0 eq 3389 access-list 101 deny ip 199.99.99.99 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 access-list 101 permit any any Change the 3389 if you need to. When your work PC tries to access your LAN, the router will check this ACL, if it sees that the first entry works it routes it to your PC. The second entry is just to make it so that your work PC wont access the rest of your LAN incase, for whatever reason, the first entry doesn't match. So this protects you from accidentally accesing the kid's or the good ladie's PCs. The last entry is to make sure that other traffic gets in. I don't remember about the second ACL entry, you may need to define a port, but I don't think so.
  10. Get a copy of portable firefox and do the proxy thing that's been mentioned. Chances are they are blocking you guys from configuring the browsers.
  11. Maybe your keyboard is faulty. Have you tried a known working one?
  12. Change the boot 0x80 piece to "goto boot". EDIT I forgot the add, change the boot 0x80 piece that's after the comment. Sorry. Or if you want the any key thing, just take off boot 0x80, and add this: getkey goto menu
  13. Yea I know. I guess I assumed that the user wouldn't have a problem reinstalling directx. It would just replace the files with the newer ones.
  14. You seem vaugely familiar. Anyways, if you haven't copied anything to the harddrive, you have a chance. Get a copy of Active@ Undelete. It's better if you get the full copy since the demo has a size limit of 64KB. Put that on a disc and browse your HDD for the deleted files. Now, let me warn you, you will need to download this program on a PC other than your own. You don't want to accidentally write over your files.
  15. Are you forwarding the ports correctly? On your router and in the firewall. Your router's manual should have the posts.
  16. After some research (and I use that term loosely since I was just backtracking where the html files where and looking at code) I came to this link. Enter it on YOUR PC in the run prompt: hcp://cn=microsoft%20corporation,l=redmond,s=washington,c=us/Remote%20Assistance/Escalation/Unsolicited/unsolicitedrcui.htm You need to make sure that the user allows remote connections to their PC. This link will open up the Help and Support Center on the "Offer Remote Assistance" page. Just enter the IP address of the user and you're set. The funny thing is, I only had to do a search on help and support for "offer remote assistance". Pist me off since I wasted my time trying to alter code on the other pages. Oh well, I learned something new. BTW, I've never actually tried this since this is the first time that I've seen this. But I really don't see how it couldn't work.
  17. Well, you should post your system specs. Then, how "old" is the program? Lastly, changing the priority of an app will not drop it's CPU ussage. What it does is, it drops it's place in line when it requests CPU cycles. If there's free proccesor cycles available, it will take them, but the moment you open another app, the proc, will drop down and let the apps with normal priority ahead.
  18. WPI. Do a search on this forum for WPI and you'll get what you want.
  19. Maybe you have a corrupted installer. Try redownloading it. Maybe you already have it running. Go to start->run->dxdiag. What version does it say where it says "DirectX version:"?
  20. In before the deletion. This thread is going to get deleted though, you know. There's no need to post a thread about how much you hate a program.
  21. Is it only certain colors that print when you print the picture? Do this, in a paint program, draw four lines using yellow, cyan, magenta, and black. Just draw some medium thinkness lines. Now, under that, write some text in the same colors. Use a medium size text, and make it bold. Now print it out. What do you see on the page?
  22. Have you taken a look at this thread? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=24608 BTW, sorry if I didn't understand what you meant.
  23. What does this mean? 1. On the main page of the add a printer wizard, hit next. 2. You will have two radio selection buttons, select Local printer attached to this computer and uncheck the checkbox that is right under. Hit next. 3. Pick the port you are using, USB, LPT, etc. Hit next. 4. Under the manufacturer list, select the brand of your printer. In the list next to it, select the model of your printer. This is what I was writing about. The drivers that you installed should be in this list. 5. Hit next and follow the remaining steps.
