  1. NT4 Visual Update 2 Beta 1 Features marxo's sysdm.cpl some more patched icons here and there. comctl32.dll is patched again i think Patched the Wizards and things with the newer vista bitmaps rather than the xp versions. Fixes Fixed User32.dll memory relocations because of shell32.dll, however shell32.dll is now included as a whole file. Fixed a bug in the batch files where regedit.exe and user32.dll wasnt patched. It is now a lot smaller because there are no 256x256 icons except in shell32.dll because i cant do anything about them in there. Issues installer.exe was removed because it didnt work shell update and terminal server arent included in this version because i havent done anything with them because i havent been running the shell update. I will put them back next version dont worry. my problem was always shell32.dll and the shell update has a weird bug i havent fixed. the shell32.dll included in nt4vu2b1 includes some avis which dont have transparency and i cant fix this because of user32.dll memory relocations, i have to start again to fix this and im not doing that till nt4vu2b2 i think. Download 4.04MB http://www.divshare.com/download/1233576-4fe Screenshot dialog bitmap update
  2. i just use IrfanView view images and photos its quick and easy and can convert stuff to just about anything
  3. maybe it probably doesnt matter that much i had a computer which had it as shell32.ie4 to run spider solitare on nt4 and that worked fine

    Bad Virus

do you mean setupdebug.exe? what actually does it do? except be deleted when people tell you its a virus?
  5. i shall add some more i dont have much to say about them though Fedora Core Latest Stable version: 7 Includes KDE and Gnome (it used to anyway) Based off Red Hat it uses the RPM packaging system easy to use installer Debian Latest Stable version: 4 Includes Gnome KDE? It uses the deb packaging system Ubuntu Latest Stable version: 7.04 Includes Gnome K\X\Ubuntu linux is based of Debian It uses the deb packaging system LiveCD based installer Kubuntu Latest Stable version: 7.04 Includes KDE Xubuntu Latest Stable version: 7.04 Includes XFCE Mandriva Latest Stable version: 2007 Spring Formally known as Mandrake. Easy to use, nice installer. Includes KDE and Gnome (it used to anyway)
  6. well ubuntu 5.04 says it only requires 32mb ram when installed but i dont know if that includes gnome i should have a look at Xubuntu i just havent really thought about it ive always used ubuntu
  7. i have seen this mappack before but havent downloaded it yet http://www.third-helix.com/downloads.html#ut99 http://mapraider.com/ searching pack and map pack find lots of stuff http://www.keenleveldesign.com/html/links.htm nalicity is the best one there which has you can search for pack and map pack as well
  8. well you need the other options because i only use option 2 because i dont want some of that extra stuff like pfe and me usb stuff. and by removing some of those options wouldnt really effect the size because its only like 3mb because it extracts the files from the winme cab files rather than including them.
  9. well i was saying that if you were going to implement dual cpus/cores from an NT OS you should try doing something with NT4 first because its the smallest, and probably the simplest
  10. you could just hexedit skype so that it links to the ie4 version of shell32.dll so it gets the apis it wants but you dont actually install the shellupdate. you just need to put the file something like shell32.ie4 and then hexedit skype.exe to goto shell32.ie4 instead of shell32.dll
  11. well with usp 2.1a the amount of ram is limited to about 1gb, the problem isnt usually getting to 1gb its getting over that amount but it does depend on you mobo and configuration
  12. run opera 9 for everything , am using opera 9.10 because im lazy though instead of opera 9.21
  13. i wasnt ever going to download any security updates if they were available. i spend most my time with 98se and nt4 so i dont really worry about security updates. would xubuntu be that much faster than ubuntu 5.04? ubuntu 6+ uses the liveCD installer which is annoying on a slow machine
  14. why? by using vmware server you would limit yourself because you will lose things like 3d Acceleration and a vm isnt as fast as the actual OS on that cpu (from my experience anyway. Afterall it means you have to rely on another OS. but it could possibly be faster on a core2duo or something
  15. The XP CMD.exe doesnt work for me i didnt rename it to command.com (these are missing) KERNEL32.DLL GetVDMCurrentDirectories (this i dont this is very important because it works on nt4 without these) ADVAPI32.DLL SaferRecordEventLogEntry SaferCloseLevel SaferComputeTokenFromLevel SaferIdentifyLevel
  16. well me and 98se are similar in the same line but 2k and xp are different. multiple cpus seems like a rearchitecture but i dont really know. if you were going to steal stuff from 2k or xp. id go with nt4 because it would probably be more compatible with 98se than 2k and xp are.
  17. when install 98se you can use the is swith on the setup (setup /is) so that it skips running scan disk
  18. Ive been looking for UT99 Mappacks (no not the official ones ive got those) im looking for community based ones and compilations. preferably DM but i dont mind DOM, CTF, and AS favorite maps are ok as well
  19. its not that suprising 98se without ie is pretty safe. careful for a year? hmm true, but the first true are the only ones that seem really dangerous
  20. well i didnt try ubuntu 7 much i only ran the live cd, it would be too slow, ubuntu 5.04 is a bit slow as it is
  21. well all versions of rp have included vista icons since rplite 5, but the rplite 4 doesnt have lameskin so you dont want to use that you could maybe use both rplite4 and rp7 but thats not very safe, modifying the dlls yourself is the easiest option.
  22. Today thinking about NT4VU2 Beta 1 I made this System Properties Control Panel Applet Mod Thingy It is based off the Vista I assume, I used this to make it http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=82658 so what do you think?
  23. have a look here http://www.mdgx.com/files/95LOGOS.ZIP thers a apile the one you want should be there the revolutions pack 7 project also lets you use a higher resolution image as the splash screen
  24. well ive never tried, more of an opionion and a thought didnt work, weird
  25. why shouldnt it? 9x doesnt really care about what the hardware is, what matters is the drive reading the disk
