well theres not much i need to do to it anyway except perhaps check if it works and correct a dll or 2

well you could rename files such as ntdll as xpdll and then hexedit it into the program however in my experience this has never worked, by the time you have satisfied all the dependencies the program crashes. wine in windows would be weird because wine is an api layer and windows allready has those apis in system dlls but then again wine is envoced by a command but it would be a bit weird

oh well i was close, i did mean that the 3gb was theoretical. what about the 386 couldnt that address 4gb as well? afterall the 386 was a 32bit processor as well. i read this on wikipedia

there is a generic usb 2.0 driver for 98se you can use, not sure where it is but it exists somewhere in these forums

i read this and it doesnt really do much it just limits the ram to 512mb when it can be limited to 1gb this is done in usp2.1a also 98se technically i thought could use up to 4gb but 1gb of that cant be used the 1gb is used for irqs i something i think

i thought part of the reason that microsoft dropped the 9x line was that it was cheaper to only support one operating system then two. thats why they combined the two to make xp

thats not very nice thing to say anyway i would totaly rely on me being right about nt4 being simplest i just kind of assumed since it is the oldest and the smallest that it would be easiser than the nt5x\6x i dont know much about nt3x that might be even simpler but i dont know

yes 98lite works well but you do need some 95 files to get rid of ie completey, but i have to say outlook express was never compulsary, you can choose not to install it in the win98 setup

i installed 98se2me and what i did was the copy all 600 system files and then it asked me if i wanted usb stuff and i said no. what i meant was it is good to have multiple options so that you can have some of the smaller things without having everything, but 98se2me has probably changed since i last used it since i dont upgrade my install i only install 98se2me on a new installation

well you can use the 98se disk to upgrade the 98fe installation by running the setup in windows. i havent ever tried an upgrade so i cant tell you what happens but you can do this

i thought 98lite was meant to have made something like that. a shell32.dll from 95 that was linked to the shell32.dll from 98 so that you could retain the functions of 98 even though using 98lite but ive never seen it ive only heard of it

I made a little fix because there seems to be a problem with reshacker patching the files. put the bat file in the reshack directory and run it and it will fix the problem else. you could just delete the ResHacker.log and ResHacker.ini files and rename ResHacker.exe reshacker.exe yourself 2b1a_fix.7z

it probably matters if it is a main system dll but since its only linked to one app it doesnt matter
