  1. It worked fine for me using your ini. @prathapml - Couldn't get this to work. do you have more details?
  2. the path for /integrate should point to the i386 folder: Edit: (Sorry) c:\xpcd\i386\update\KB834707.exe /integrate:c:\xpcd
  3. do the integrate before you create your CD. It's just like integrating the service pack 2. Do the SP then the updates.
  4. sounds like an id*** fee needs to be added to the cost.
  5. which controller are you plugging into? the via or the Promise? raid or not?
  6. in my two test it only found items not found by Spybot & Adaware. Some of its features are interesting. I think that M$ best option is to offer a free and pay version like Lavasoft does for Adaware.
  7. depending upon the version of Deepfreeze you are using there are commandline executables to freeze and thaw the system. You can also schedule the machine to thaw/freeze at spcific times. Unfortunately, there is no way to schedule windows updates to install without creating your own script after manually downloading them. Virusscan should be much easier if you are using an enterpirse version of virusscan most of them will allow you to schedule the download and install of updates at a specific time.
  8. I have Thermaltakes V1000D chassis which came with 7 of their tt-8025a case fans, when all 7 are running they are about as loud as one or two cheapo fans.
  9. I'm happy with Thermaltake power supplies. I just sold my old system which had a 3yr old 450watt psu in it and it is still as quite now as it was when I bought it. I just installed their Silent PurePower Series ATX 12v 2.0 Plus EPS 680watt power supply. See Here For a dual fan psu its very quiet
  10. It all depends upon who your client base consists of. Mine ranges from the no nothing user to IT professionals.
  11. Interesting, never saw that before. @twizt3d - when was the last time you went more than 60 days before making a new installation cd? I think I might have made it that long but not by much. And this way if I leave my cd in the machine accidentally after the install then I don't have to worry about it after 60 days, unless of course they run KeyFinder on their machine and get it that way.
  12. @Tarun: Oh, yes Dell is the only manufacturer to do this, let's see Compaq, IBM, Apple, HP, Packard Bell, and any other has in the past or currently do the same thing.
  13. try upgrading the bios, the current version is A07, your running A05. Also check the bios settings, I believe usb boot may be an option, turn it off if it is.
  14. New Computer: P4 3.2ghz 800fsb LGA775 Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D motherboard 512mb x 2 DDR2 memory ATI Radeon X700 PCIe 256mb ATI HDTV tuner decoder 8 x 200gb SATA Seagate Samsung DVD-R Dual Layer LiteOn 16x DVD
  15. the easiest way would be to disconect it during the install. I have a similar problem with some machines where it istalls windows on the hard drive but assigns c: to the zip drive, so I just disconnect the power until I'm finished reloading the machine.
  16. I use USB thumbdrives and firewire hard drives and once I set a drive letter via Disk Management everytime I plug them into that machine the mount as the letter I assigned to it. That is unless there is another drive already using that letter then it defaults back to the next available letter. This is machine specific though and has to be done on every machine you plug the drive into.
  17. To my knowledge there is no way to prevent ghosting of a drive. But you can always secure the machine/hard drive. Bios password, power on passwrd, hdd password, lock on the case, remove hard drive and take it with you etc.
  18. ghost has built in security features. you can lock it to the bios of a machine/machine type, or it can be password protected
  19. open a command window and type SET will give you a list of environment variables
  20. turn off simple file sharing and then you can change the permissions on the file.
  21. try this, create a text file containing only a carriage return, name it 'ENTER.TXT' On the line where you run 'SETUP.EXE' change it to SETUP.EXE <ENTER.TXT This should work, but some programs will not take redirected text this way.
  22. I charge $60 hour, 1 hour minimum when onsite. Most of the time if it goes over 2 hours I drop it down to about $30 an hour there after. Most of the time if it is viruses/spyware I recommend they let me take it and do it at home, then I only charge an hour since I can do other things. I get away with charging this prices since all my business comes via word of mouth and people are willing to pay for it when they know you've done a good job for someone they know.
  23. you can try Autoruns by SysInternals kinda msconfig on steroids.
  24. If this is the type adapter you have, when looking at the pin side of the adapter with the gap on the left negative is on top and positive on the bottom.
