  1. Scroll up to the WinCert link. This one is no longer maintained but the one over there is. As far as you "takes forever to update" Several basic files installed after Clean will cure that. I start with the v320 of Windows Update Agent and then install KB3102810 fix. Others recommend two additional ones. www.msfn.org/board/topic/175491-clean-install-win-7-home-premium-now-cant-get-win-update-to-work-runs-long-long-time-stuck/ Also read this (link to WUA v320) - Happy Bunny Sophy - www.msfn.org/board/topic/175482-windows-7-activationwindows-updates/ No, WUD is not fake. Who called it "spyware"?. If you open an "ULZ" with (e.g.) 7-zip and then open the "UL" you'll find that every single file is downloaded directly from Microsoft (links ar right there). WUD is only a vehicle for processing "The List". Why would you ask that? Pretty sure jcarle (the developer) would laugh. BTW, you'll have to sign up on WinCert to get it. Side Note - Have you also looked into "WSUS Offline"? Mind you, that one sometimes doesn't really give you everything or may give you something that's been superseded because it uses MS' very own WSUS files and sometimes give you more (or not enough) than you want. As far as "this list" being outdated, the subject is being beaten to death. steven4554 no longer maintains it - read the first post and understand he may NEVER update it here again. The above are your (almost) only options (but there seems to be a/l one other source I don't remember off-hand). HTH
  2. First - ??? Never heard of that one. There's a VX2xxxx series (I refer to it as SP2b) and that's includes the EOLA Lawsuit changes (beyond SP2). But I'm not sure if a VOL one was ever issued. Could be wrong since they would have had to comply with the lawsuit. (Note that you can't easily slipstream those because the files have been altered by MS.) If you're in an Second, why aren't you re-creating an ISO with those file inside? Third, you're trying to install using SysPrep? Fourth, I'm not sure how to get a CD-ISO to be used as a Floppy. Fifth - Why QEMU, if I might ask? Any particular reason for not using another Free VM Software? Last - Why don't you create a "real" Floppy Image and feed that in instead of CD-ISO? (I'm assuming you mean THIS "Unattend Install Group"?)
  3. Don't know if this will help with getting a working version (Archives) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-archive-javase8-2177648.html I have U40 of the JRE but can't remember if I installed it. It's in a folder named "v8 WinXP+" (I keep the Major Versions separated and which OS they work on).
  4. Yup! All you have to do is "chase" the Indices (not that it's that easy). The info on how this works is all over the internet if you can figure out how to look for. Ever hear of DOS PC-Tools or (Norton?) UnDelete? Same concept. Maybe he could pay jaclaz to write an ASM program to do it for him. Pretty sure I wouln'd have the patience and my memory is rather fuzzy on Mainframe ASM and PC-ASM is a (kind of) world difference. Bottom line - Don't indiscriminately run a program on a live system until full testing in test environment is done. (Must have had a hot-hot-hottie date.) Side not - I can see why said programmer had that thread deleted. Really embarrassing. Wonder if he still has a job.
  5. It's the last one to have the fixes independently (fix-by-fix) installed. The Unofficial SP seems to be pretty good (built like an SP) and has (some) more recent fixes. Best bet - try them all and decide for yourself. What you find here will probably be the best that can be found on the WWW bar none. The links are here, so go for it. The hardest part (AFAIK) will be the drivers for that beast.
  6. Pretty sure that's a QEMU setup problem and has nothing to do with unattended. Check your settings. And re-read the documentation. Also (not sure) but this may/may not help. Honestly can't remember if it directly does XP. Here is as a very good Unattended reference - http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/ The XP/2K3 OPK would really be helpful as well, but is no longer available (unless you know what to look for). HTH
  7. Consider yourself slapped... Nothing like slapping yourself, now, is there?
  8. Very familiar, although in my case the bad line of code only allowed payroll tax deduction routine to give a man $5 from the company coffers. Fortunately, Payroll caught it. Assembly Language was so much fun! And yes, we were smart enough to have triple-backups of the whole company database on-site and a weekly off-site vault backup. IT Manager was very paranoid. I wonder if they know about Testdisk Photorec?
  9. SEEMS reasonable, however, if it was a simple matter of using Single-Core vs Dual(or more)-Core, why not use the "Flip to Multi-Core" method that is so easy to do by simply changing the BOOT.INI a single (actually twice) time? Or was that too much trouble for the average user? Hmmm - http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/545980-optimize-xp-for-dual-core/ Some of the comments indicate it seems to be somewhat related to a setting that can be done in an Intel-based Motherboard, something having to do with Reduced Power/Clocking (Intel's C1E and SpeedStep) that the OS will do is "set". It doesn't jive with your explanation and seems pretty unclear as to its true purpose. Personally, I turn off all of the PowerSaving/ScreenSaver/SleepWake features in both the BIOS and the OS', including those two "I'll choke you" BIOS settings. So the poster's problem is... what? I DO remember something about the "order" of the CPU's Core usage somewhere which is exactly what the above link indicates. Pretty sure it had SOMETHING to do with a 6-core design (which is why I won't touch one). Something to do with the L2/L3 being "shared" between the Cores (or something). BE AWARE that I'm speaking STRICTLY of the AMD 6-Core Processors, not a 2-4-8 (up) Processors, since AMD got a bit weird with that particular one. Lousy factoring to do 2*n instead of 2^n IMHO.
  10. On first look (without actually downloading) it LOOKS like a/some PowerShells.
  11. @litk - Uhhh... very first Post #1??? Not sure how nLite will respond to the Mod, but I believe (AFAIK) it works. There's MANY methods of integrating, BTW. There's even a "Update Pack" and an "Unofficial SP4" which includes them. HTH (with your Integrate and Distribute project...)
  12. @dibya - Maybe so? I haven't run/extracted it but the Date is 8-14-2008 and SP3 is 4-14-2008. Seems MS' SP3 was way ahead of AMD by 4 months on this problem? Just extracted... File="amd_dc_opt.exe" dated 7-22-2008. Registry Added= "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" Please explain how this can be included in SP3.
  13. AFAIK, there's no ADK for Windows 7. There's a WAIK (free) and an OPK (sign up as an OEM Partner). I have them both. The WAIK lacks the WINRE only, otherwise exactly the same (WinPE 3.x, which you say you have already). That article link I gave wasn't meant to USE it, just to indicate the limitations. My USB Boot has a single Multi-Edition Windows 7 ISO on it and a single Folder with that USB3 Driver inside it. The POINT was to do the same AND put all of YOUR drivers in it. This method SPECIFICALLY loads any needed Drivers during PE and propagates them to the Windows7 Install. The method is VERY similar to the Windows 2000/XP "Press F5 to install additional drivers" but does it automatically. IOW, you seem to be making this more complicated than it should be. One Autounattend.xml for X86 and one for X64 (since Drivers WILL be different between them), two USB Sticks (or one and rename the Driver Folder depending on the Hardware Architecture). <settings pass="windowsPE"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-PnpCustomizationsWinPE" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <DriverPaths> <PathAndCredentials wcm:action="add" wcm:keyValue="1"> <Path>$WinPEDriver$</Path> </PathAndCredentials> </DriverPaths> </component> </settings> http://www.rmprepusb.com/tutorials/grub4dos http://www.rmprepusb.com/tutorials/firawiniso It seems kind of screwy to try put a gob of drivers into the BOOT.WIM just to create a "Install to Any Hardware AIO" when the above works just fine. Not sure what you're trying to accomplish here... Just to keep things together, THIS is the tool that you used to create it. Whether the method I gave will work or not, I don't know as I've never tried to use wimb's Win7PE. It APPEARS that you need an "AIO-Driver WinPE" to do "maintenance" (according to post#1). It seems "odd" that you would need to do that unless you're a Repair Shop in which case you REALLY should break down the "sets" of Drivers to one per Intel/AMD/Older/Newer/etc and create Multiple ISO's and use the links I gave to create a Bootable USB and select any given one depending on the Hardware. All you're doing with a Monster.WIM is causing it to slow down the load process searching through a gob of drivers for the right ones. Maybe you should read up on GRUB4DOS as well (see my links)? HTH
  14. There's a Donate button somewhere floating around the main page. I know you have an extremely limited budget but anything you can give will help. Not to scare you, but at first opportunity go to this Topic and read the first post carefully. It appears to be rather confusing but there are certain Updates you may not want. That is unless you WANT to wipe out your shiny new Windows 7 with Windows 10 "Free Upgrade". Be aware that several of them appear to be perfectly fine and directly relate to Windows Update. Avoid the GWX one like the plague! Yes, it's in the Windows8 Subforum, but dencorso made a post in the Windows7 Subforum pointing to it as it applies to both Windows 7.x AND Windows 8.x (to avoid repetition). Again, take your time on reading it. Mainly (usually, unless MS changes Windows Update again) they'll be in "Optional Updates" so do NOT select them until you absorb the content of the looong thread. I personally had to install at least one of the Windows Update Client ones to get mine to stop "stalling". Final note - Remember to get your Install backed up Offline (hope you have enough space left on your External) as soon as your satisfied with everything. FWIW, Windows7 has a Built-In Full Backup To VHD (Virtual Hard Drive) facility that can be easily restored from via F8 (works similar to other Partition Clone Software). You're good to go now, Sophy! Glad we could help out.
  15. (Aw shoot... I recognize that.) Hold off on Updates (i.e. turn it "off" for a while until I or another can check on it and give the solution. Pretty sure it was a dumb simple one, so don't fret. Sorry, gotta go right now BUT will return tomorrow. Hopefully, someone else will clue you. L8tr, Sophy... @everyone - KISS as she's a real novice, m-kay?
  16. There's your lag. You're "bouncing" through several additional IP's, including their Server. Trust me on this as I've checked it out before. That's why I don't like it (much). Nonetheless, if it works for you "Don't Worry, Be Happy".
  17. @vinifera and @harkaz... Thank you! Guess I was right after all. [...] GRTMxxxx was THE last one issued. SP3 and IE6. Period.
  18. Speaking of USB sticks... Why are you loading up the BOOT.WIM with so many drivers? Reference folder "$WinPEDriver$" - use that instead? It seems it will search for the USB Stick for the Drivers from there (AFAIK). Limitations - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2686316 I used an External Folder with USB3 Drivers to access a flubbed up HP PC. I added in a PCIe USB card and loaded an extra HDD via USB (with Win7 ISO on it) via Grub to figure out what the heck was going on with it (USB-only MoBo - no PS/2). My conclusion was that a child had screwed up the USB Ports -or- had (inadvertantly) disabled all the USB Controllers, thus rendering the MoBo useless without an RMA. Worth a thought, anyhow...
  19. @Wolverine1977 - I repeat that EI.CFG is the "key". Remove it and move on. There is NO DIFFERENCE between an OEM Windows7 Pro and a Retail Windows 7 Pro EXCEPT that file which DETERMINES which Edition to install and nothing more. I have LITERALLY used my OEM Key to install from a Retail of the same edition. I all depends on HOW you install as it uses that to determine AT INSTALL TIME which Product Key Variation to use. Simply DO NOT enter the key during Install and use "slmgr.vbs" AFTER install. There is NO SUCH BEAST as an AIO that "mixes" these unless LITERALLY altered. These so-called AIO's are NOT using the standard Setup but are using an entirely different method. Indeed, that screenshot has to have been made during an AutoPlay setup. Have you ever heard of (e.g.) AutoPlay Menu Studio? I'm betting the "method" is not dissimilar to creating an AIO Windows2000/XP. Google that and get back to us. HTH (you're understanding...)
  20. It's right here on MSFN as a Sub-Forum. It's the successor to nLite and vLite, all three developed by our own member nuhi. http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/177-ntlite/
  21. VGA Display Adapter not= Monitor INF These are two separate pieces of hardware that "talk" to each other, much like an IDE Controller "talks" to the HDD. Did you install an INF for the specific Monitor? VGA can only set (and keep) a Resolution according to what it can detect, AFAIK. In particular, if it doesn't show as a PnP then it definitely needs an INF for it installed.
  22. I shall make note of this malicious add-on and never install it. I will also not install any malicious executables. (FUD, indeed...)
  23. Hi, Wendy! Long time no see! @LeakHunter - The very first box in said post alters SETUPREG.HIV off-line. You need to "dump" the CD to the HDD on another NT-type system and run that "script" to add that entry then completely Reburn the CD (bootable, of course). If you have an ISO-editing program (e.g UltraIso) then just extract the ISO Image from the CD, copy the SETUPREG.HIV "somewhere", fix it using the Script, replace it in the Image, and Reburn. Then just boot to it in YOU computer and it just works! HTH
