Did you install NUSB? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/43605-maximus-decim-native-usb-drivers/ Download here (FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS): http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/win98se-usb-mass-storage-drivers.php Be prepared to have to reinstall Win98 if you screw up really bad. Come back if you have any more problems/questions. Drivers (maybe?): http://www.mpcdrivers.com/apps/filelist500se.html?ID=17270 And you can see that there are several MoBo's used in that model. Which is yours? There should be a Model# Sticker on the back. Worse, there *seems* to be both an AMD and an Intel variation of "500SE", also one with XP pre-installed, so the exact MoBo/ModelNumber is nearly a must to help.

Another ancient vulnerability reported going back to Win-95
submix8c replied to Nomen's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Yes, it does exist in Win98SE. Unless you lited/removed from Source. PRECOPY2.CAB->LAYOUT.INF->WIN98_39.CAB Installed to: WINDOWS\SYSTEM\oleaut32.dll Size: 598,288 bytes Date/Time: 4/23/99 22:22:00 Version: 2.40.4275.1 Yours appears to be integrated/upgraded to Internet Explorer 6 SP1. OAINST.CAB (installed to same folder) Size: 929,792 bytes Date/Time: 03/16/2001 Version: 2.40.4518.0 Latest one that functions with Win98SE (I have it on my 98SE): Version: 2.40.4520 http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/135336-updated-ie6-crashes-and-other-issues/#entry865847 Note the TechNet link is here: https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms08-008 Also included in Win98SE AutoPatcher Dec08Upgrade. Also included in Win98SE USP3.33 (inside SP3.CAB). The MS Article link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3006226 will do no good for 98SE, so forget it (see above links). Just an FYI. -

submix8c replied to DarkenMoon97's topic in Windows 9x/ME
HDD is obviously dead (due to Mobo?). Probably not your problem, but... https://support.microsoft.com/kb/151911/en-us Have you tried changing the other items that use IRQ15? Does your BIOS allow for a setting of "PnP OS Installed"? I also noted that "ACPI" is listed. From above: "The ACPI is completely unsupported with the laptop" APM is ok, but ACPI may not be. Did you try install with the aforementioned switches? I see nothig related to IRQ's in the INF file for SMBUS. Take a look inside the "NVSMBUS.INF". *Seems* to be related to the MS Article. side note: your MoBo is not the "PES" one then(?). BTW, there's a BIOS update. -

Specs: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c00094638&ac.admitted=1415800540015.876444892.199480143 Motherboard: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c00064822&lc=en&locale=en_US Apparently two variations exactly the same - one doesn't have the Extender (page no longer available). Found links here: http://www.elhvb.com/mboards/oem/HP/index.html re: 120GB WD HDD "There was no jumper on it." - I find that hard to believe. *UNLESS* you mean the jumper was "removed" in which case it "should" have been "Master" (on end of cable) and no other HDD on the same cable (middle). If it's a "Cable Select" type cable then it should be connected correctly (e.g. Blue end on Mobo). -
Uh.... there *is* no "IESETUP.EXE: because in the "UPDATE" folder there's an "UPDATE.EXE". This bad boy works (hmmmm....) like a Hotfix (it's an "Update" to IE6, you see). You're really missing the boat on this, aren't you? Try just *running* the file inside the RAR. Jeez, dude, the IE7 RTM works the same way (no IESETUP)! DO NOT EXTRACT THE ".EXE" CONTENTS, JUST THE EXE FROM INSIDE THE RAR (it's even the same name as the RTM). M-kay? Not rocket science.

Another tidbit you left out - German Win98SE. Hoping you're using the German NUSB. http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/win98se-usb-mass-storage-drivers.php Note the instructions in the link. Did you do that? It falls in line with MiKl's post above about Problemchyld's instructions. IRQ Conflict may have caused the Opti to not work. Betting the other MoBo's didn't have multi-USB built in. You're aware that "PnP OS Installed" set in BIOS causes 98 SE to control Memory/IO/IRQ/DMA, right? See Section 2.4.6 of the Manual. Betting if you'd have Disabled -all- USB in BIOS the Opti would have worked. Opti specifically states that it works - http://www.opti-inc.com/html/drivers.html (Please note I have one or two - check the Chip on the board to confirm it is indeed an Opti.) HTH

Now we're getting somewhere (Explorer causes shutdown). Have you installed: 1) the nVidia Drivers for nForce3? http://www.gamefront.com/files/listing/pub2/NVIDIA_nForce_v1_2_3_Drivers -Note: nVidia website gets "not found" when attempting to get them. Above is alternative. 2) any Fixes/Updates (Unofficial, manual, whatever) other than NUSB or is this a "clean" install and then stopped? Is this your Manual/Motherboard? http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock754/K8N/e1868_k8n.pdf Now, you get the "fails to start" and have *not* said *which* solutions you've attempted (links -or- detailed explanation, please). What I've found indicates a file is missing (specifically, that file and some entries in AUTOEXEC.BAT). I find it "odd" that DOS (DOS mode?) can access a USB Flash but the WinOS crashes in Explorer. How were you able to access USB in DOS (DOS USB Drivers)? It seems to imply that the UFD is recognized as an External HDD, so we don't even know what Make/Model it is. In addition, there should be absolutely *no reason* for the Opti Add-In card to cause the crash. It should have worked out-of-the-box (AFAICR). Do this, except let me *also* know what the Device Manager says *for the USB Controllers/Hubs* (you never said): http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/172994-forbidden-sound-blaster/#entry1088621 Also, bear in mind that the Drivers are for USB Controllers and *not* USB Devices (note the difference between Controller/Hub and the attached Devices). IOW, you're leaving out critical info. Just what you gave is incomplete. We need specifics, not generic (e.g. USB 2 gets code 2). Yousee , I don't have an nForce3 single-chip MoBo and can only go by what the Asus docs (and other souces) give. We'll try to help you but you have to help us to do that.

Per harkaz at RyanVM @9:53AM: Don't start downlaoding because .NET Framework 4.0 servicing needs some extra fixes. The files don't exist *yet* but I'm sure they *will*, so have patience (like me).

You want this: http://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=63482 It's the same file as MDGx has/had and is for SB0100. (see the topic: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/115903-compilation-of-creative-sound-blaster-live-drivers-for-windows-9x/) The INF to point to (if need be) is "VSB010X.INF" The Downloader is (only way to get it) is safe to use. Just "No Thanks/Decline" all of the "offers", let it download (it puts the downloaded file into folder "C:\My Documents\Downloads"), Exit out of the Downloader at the end (routes you back to stupid DriverGuide to givi "feedback"). You'll have to unzip it to use the contents with (e.g.) 7-zip (free). Filename=SB_live_5.1.zip ***OR*** This may or may not be the Driver Package you need directly from Creative Labs: http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=414 I started from here, selected "Live!" on left and "Live! 5.1" on right, then selected "Windows 98 SE": http://support.creative.com/Products/product_list.aspx?catid=1&CatName=Sound+Blaster *Note1: The Driver from Creative self-expands then you need to run the "SBL51.EXE". *Note2: It won't run/"expand" on my system since it "detects" whether the hardware is there or not. HTH and please report back so the Driver problem part of this will/may be resolved.

AMD64/Nforce3 implies chipset is Via. Is it? If so, you need *all* of the Via drivers. Please tell us the Motherboard and/or Make+Model of the offending computer.

1 - Start->Programs->MS DOS Prompt (opens a Command Window) -or- Start->Run (gives a "box") 2 - Enter "Regedit" then press "enter" key 3 - Looks like a Windows Explorer. Go to the Registry Keys I gave (HKLM is short for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) 4 - Find the one that says "Sound Blaster" and/or one that says "Unknown Device" 5 - There will be some keys that say VEN followed by DEV. I need the complete string. 6 - At the top left (the Menu), Exit the Regedit. *DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING* Even though it "says" SB0100 on the card, it may be a variation not necessarily that "model". This has been known to happen, hence the "specific" VEN/DEV values. Once again, I won't do the whole CD but *might* supply the exact one if you will provide that information. Also, there's a program called "Unknown Device Identifier" that you could try -but- it installs as a Program and would later need Uninstalled. What I ask is easier.

Outlook always creates a new .pst even if I connect to the old one
submix8c replied to bookie32's topic in Microsoft Office
Yes, I understand that (OE vs OLK). The link I gave (the apparent reference) seems to be more simplistic. The OP is using "Backup.pst" (as the name) and the procedure they linked to. Is this the same? I *suppose* we could *assume* that the Target is OE2010. Can we also *assume* the Source is OE2010? In any case, the OP may be using an incorrect procedure, hence my Q "Source/Target" Versions (so nobody *assumes* anything). I *do* have OE2007, but don't use it. I really don't want to waste much time on running a/the scenario without a confirmation. -
You really do need to stop using those heavy drugs.

Ummm... no! 1.7GB. P.S. I have my own Server and choose to *not* do that (U.S. copyright). VID/PID, please. CORRECTION: Errr... Ven/Dev in Registry "HKLM/ENUM/PCI" -or- "HKLM/ENUM/ISAPNP".

Outlook always creates a new .pst even if I connect to the old one
submix8c replied to bookie32's topic in Microsoft Office
Hmmm... For OE6 I have done: 1 - Create Logon to OE using exact same original name 2 - Create exact original Folder (?) names 3 - Log out 4 - Copy Backups using *original* name over top of "newly created" 5 - Log in and there they are untouched Sounds like you're using some sort of "export/import" method. Again, I don't use OE, but use "default" OE6 as supplied with XP/2K3/IE6. BTW, you haven't stated *which* OE you're coming *from* or *which* OE you're going *to*. Here is the original MS article(s) that your link apparently uses for a reference. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291636 -
I'm only guessing here, but I believe that *maybe* MDGx has 1 - determined that copyright applies and don't want hassled 2 - had a webiste "hit" and files are trashed 3 - been "hacked" at some point 4 - decided to rework the website but hasn't finished 5 - blocked because of too much bandwidth for large files Take your pick or just send a PM and ask. He may or may not answer. FWIW, I have them all archived. Which particular VID/PID (model) do you need?

And that tool is listed in the first link I gave.

Seems to be "integrated" in 8.1. You may be out of luck. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/forum/sdsign-sdsignin/accessing-onedrive-from-local-account/45b25de2-b1f0-481c-89e8-e00fd87a4481 edit - This was mentioned in the Topic but it has limitations (read the Topic). http://www.ghacks.net/2013/11/09/access-skydrive-windows-8-1-using-local-accounts/

1) nLite 2) Did you read this post? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/150136-install-updates/#entry1087625 3) You can NOT directly Integrate Add-On's (e.g. dotNet, Sliverlight, etc.) that WUD may download. Only Fixes (Updates) which includes IE8. WMP11 can be with an additional tool. See this - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162279-how-to-integrate-basic-updatesie8wmp11/ Also see this for what CAN be Directly Integrated. Add-Ons (anything not listed in the following link) have to be obtained "elsewher", eg from RyanVM or WinCert. http://xdot.tk/ Finally, you said "four folders". That *really* makes me wonder - WHICH OS DID YOU SELECT TO DOWNLOAD? Please go back and read this entire Topic to better understand.
