  1. ? Um...isn't Adobe FP used in FF? (Guess I should check my Win7 install...)
  2. First page - "free" with limited capabilities. NTlite version 1.0.0 Build 1994 (Beta). Unless of course you go "Pro", then there's that $ thing.
  3. "All xp updates" from where? Retail/OEM/Upgrade version of XP Home? Which Service pack was on the "org"? English or Danish? Did you REMOVE or TWEAK anything or just slip the Updates ONLY? Did you ADD other Add-ons? Looks like you're trying to install onto a pre-existing installation on HDD.
  4. Look at this for an answer to your confusion and a solution - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/62785-winntsif-language-settings/ HTH
  5. Yes, as jaclaz said for the correct way. Here's how I pulled off changing ACPI Single Core to ACPI Multi Core. Note that it was a several step process and that it was XP, but it should be the same for 2K. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/172203-advice-on-a-64bit-system-upgrade/?view=findpost&p=1083414 Please note that the reason for several steps is due to HAL.PNF being regenerated and the renaming of the HAL and Kernel modules. Whether the method works for you or not... based upon jaclaz' final statement. Bear in mind the whole regenerate/rename thing may not happen and you'll simply be "forcing" a different set ( also ). HTH (and this was just an FYI)
  6. MCE2002=XP Pro w/SP1 + the extra CD#2 (to make MCE) MCE2004=XP Pro w/SP2 + the extra CD#2 (to make MCE) MCE2005=Different Beast (usually a "merged" DVD) Good luck making an MCE200x w/SP3 - it breaks all kinds of stuff, e.g. MediaPlayer (back-versions it). If I were you, I'd handle the MCE independently. Recktendo has an "add-on" over at WinCert to allow merging MCE components onto an XP Pro w/SP3, but I don't know if it actually works. BTW, MCE was only available to OEM/MSDN. SP3 was "botched" to not be able to slipstream it into an MCE version. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP_Media_Center_Edition http://web.archive.org/web/20120121210208/http://www.salloway.org.uk/mediacenter/2004/version.htm XP Home is only "somewhat" different from XP Pro. These can be put on a single CD. MCE will be -extremely- tricky and I wouldn't even want to discuss trying it. Trust me on this, it's really not worth it anyhow, since the added components are just for specialized hardware besides the point that the TV part won't work anyway. All the "extra" bells and whistles can be added on with other software ($ or Freeware), e.g. DVD Player and you can listen to Radio directly from the Internet (to name a couple). HTH
  7. re: mscorsvw.exe (.NET Runtime Optimization Service - aka NGEN) - disable it in Services, if you haven't already.
  8. Why "switch to"? I use an AV (just pick a good one), Spybot, *and* MBAM? Who's advising you? Tell them you have better advice resources. You might also get CCleaner (I also use that). WARNING on checking Registry inconsistencies (in both CCleaner and Spybot) - ensure you ARE backing up (via the program's options) before "fixing". I have no clue if this will work on XP x64 - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897445.aspx
  9. ...and if "something" is running eating CPU cycles, the CPU would heat up a lot too, fan running full throttle. You may actually have *two* problems - Thermal Pads/Dirt/Dust *and* some errant Process. edit - Uhhh... You do "gaming" on this one too (as well as the one BSOD'ing here)? www.msfn.org/board/topic/171496-rash-of-bsods-what-could-be-the-culprit-here/#entry1085575
  10. Have you tried cleaning the heck out of it? It *will* overheat if vents, fan, etc. are nasty.

    FDV fileset for XP

Aaaaand again: Take this quiz:(1) Use nLite and see what gets changed (2) Make the same type changes within HFslip (3) Both of the above (4) None of the above and fail miserably Basically the link above is for SysPrep. It seems like you CAN make a Profile, change it, then copy *most* of it to Default (excluding certain files) *offline*, because the Default Profile is *actively used* after-the-fact to ALLOW for creating new Profiles (e.g. the First User created to logon and that *may* be Administrator *if you define no other one in TXTSETUP.SIF*). You find out what should *not* be copied by comparing contents of Default to NewUser (or Administrator, whatever the FIST ONE USED is). AGAIN, "Classic" in XP is *not* the default and Win2k has *only* "classic" (I thought I explained that), so the REG Key method WILL NOT WORK ON XP! Side note: the INF's is *not* the SIF file, get it? Try doing a Search on the original source for "*.IN_" and tell me what you see.
  12. "Code 10", right? You might provide the VEN/DEV found in that Device to assist with. I note you didn't provide that in the other thread either. I found this (but AGAIN, this gives a VEN/DEV identifier and is about Dell Vostro) - http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/idt-high-definition-audio-codec.195249/ Be aware that *just the name* of the deice is not enough. The VEN/DEV *must* be given because they *will* vary even for the same named Device! Right-Click on it and select "Properties" the the "Details" tab to get VEN/DEV value. edit - another Vostro topic w/link to "another driver" (see what I mean?) - http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3517/t/19538039
  13. All well and good, but how about we "chain" this topic to the new topic to keep searchers of info connected? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/172661-hp-mini-110-3735dx-sound-driver-on-xp-32-bit/ (too much work...)
  14. Never tried it since it seems irrelevant to me. But this says the same thing you tried *and* seems to indicate *something* having to do with Resolution. It seems to have a link to a GUI to change it (but it costs $). http://discuss.pcmag.com/forums/thread/61841001.aspx Oh, and you DO have the correct Display Adapter Drivers in your VM's don't you? And also have the VM Additions (for VPC) installed?
  15. Would have helped if I could, but haven't even had funds to donate to MSFN. (personal/family BAAAD stuff going on, including but not limited to getting sucked dry.) Sometimes you do what you have to do. Whenever you get your house (great idea, BTW) we hope to see you posting from another PC (whenever you can scrape enough up to get another one). In the meanwhile, don't be scarce, my friend. ( my spelling/kybrd strokes has gone to pot a little too. it happens under stress...)
  16. 1 - No. 2 - Try to Right-Clcik and Run As Administraotor. It doesn't even recognoze it, otherwise it would have been listed in the left-hand screen (with the Pull-Down) and MUST be there and selected. HTH
  17. Could you post the relevant portion of the Script (the part with the Commands for the Application). Not going to swear to this , but that option *may* pertain to an OS Install (last reboot to desktop) and you *appear* to be attempting to install some sort of Desktop software. disclaimer - I haven't used that version of WPIW. Just know that you haven't provided sufficient information to analyze.
  18. I don't get it. Is this the one? It says 98 and up. Also USB or PS2 "flavors". http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/414662-REG/Kensington_72121_Mouse_in_a_Box_Optical_Elite_Mouse.html And this appears to be the attached photo in your post - http://cheapwiredmouse.blogspot.com/2011/07/kensington-72121-mouse-in-box-optical.html So, what "features" are lacking that you need for this "software"? "Hotkeys"? (SMH) BTW, why are you using Logitech software with a Kensington mouse? Try using Kensington Mouseworks to see if it fits the bill. http://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/sortname/specific_drivers.html HTH
  19. Maybe the OP did a "sector by sector" copy (not having stated which "clone" software and the method/options)? Suggest reading links jaclaz (resident expert) gives and try again the "copy" (sic) operation to confirm (after reading second link).
  20. You need to / should open a new Topic in this sub-forum. Here is one such reference - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/150641-problem-with-two-sata-hdd-dives-on-sil-3512-controller/ Granted, the MSFN Search has "somewhat" to be desired. I found the above using Google "windows 98" sil3112 OR sil3114 site:msfn.orgTry the above to see if that gives any answer to your question. HTH
  21. Yep, that's what I was saying. Please also note using merged/named "BOOT.WIM" from Index#2 to get "back" the second time Methinks the XML inside the Combo (merged) WIM(s) needs pulled an inspected to see what is REALLY inside it. Please note the First try Now note the Second try Somewhat confusing, no? IOW, -one- of them is WinPE/WinRE(?), the -other- one is the actual Install (AFAICT).
  22. I, too, just shared it. Thx for Heads Up. Got bit (nearly) by FB once (halted by RT-Virus block) & I went into disconnect/scrub mode. Seems they get "certified" as Advertisers and nobody checks them out, AFAICR.
  23. "...there is no INF..." And I would be interested in this as well?
  24. THANK you one and all for providing lists. Might I suggest the editing of several of the original posts and include this "complete" (as far as anyone knows) list of OFFICIAL updates so that the next person coming to MSFN won't get "surprised" by the answers they get? Not having used Windows ME for more than a year (right after it came out), I *never* bothered with it anymore. I had moved "backward" to Win98SE, then "forward" to WinXP. As I said, I *do* have the WinMESP1 Beta-EIGHT (in case I ever needed it). And as stated, the link I gave to the "latest" one was discontinued on MSFN due to (you know). Arguing over/insisting on (basically) "please find for me OFFICIAL Files" is absolute nonsense under the circumstances. If someone *insists" on having the Originals, I had *also* given a member name to contact as *obviously* that person would have *all* of the originals, else they would *never* have been able to construct the *latest* Unofficial Service Pack 1, amirite? As it is, I *also* have the *complete original latest* IE6SP1, sans updates (except for the Win98SE, and unsure if they *also* apply to WinME), for *all* OS. As stated, I *skipped* past WinME. I guess I could check... In conclusion, *if* someone would be willing to put all of their *collection* to a website that would *not* get in trouble due to the legalities involved, I would happily contribute waht little I have to the project. But, seriously, is it worth it? Maybe, to circumvent such Topics repeatedly (occasionally?) being started just so a new user can be PO'd because they don't get the answers they want (kind of like a cop grilling you). Indeed, I would welcome having the *official* ones as well in my personal archive. That being said, I *might* take time to search down said *official* files myself, even though I *personally* may never have the need for them as all of the old PC's I have are nearly all recycled and those friends/relatives I help out have nothing less than WinXP (also now, AS STATED, getting hard to finde *some* updates). If *anyone* wants to argue/get angry over this - TAKE IT UP WITH MICROSOFT, not MSFN members that try to help (again, for FREE). As nuhi had (basically) said we have personal lives, we do NOT live and breathe to support everyone on earth and *do* have other things to do. Again, any takers on having *somewhere* LEGAL to collect/archive them? Being US-based, we (and I) can *not* do this. I really don't want a cease-and-desist or the FBI knocking at my door. Addendum - Yes, I have many/most Win9x/ME (*and* XP, mostly OEM) variations (i.e. RTL/UPG/OEM) archived/sucked-from older PC's HDD's, so there's that. Software/OS I have is *strictly* to repair, as needed *just* for personal associates. But then, I repeat myself... ( Wow. Just.... WOW! ) edit - Having some actual FILENAMES, here is another listing (only) - http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/ms-upd.htm These provide for FTP Searches, neither of which guarantee the site having them are up/still-exist - http://www.mmnt.net/ http://www.filewatcher.com/ Fallback is (as shown above by jaclaz) http://archive.org/web/web.php <-fill in the website/MAYBEfilename Found some direct links to some MS files (lost the website found on)
  25. It syas "Unofficial Service Pack", now doesn't it? No, it does -not- contain the individual updates -and- contains "extras" and "unofficial". I thought I made that clear when I said use at own risk? AGAIN, you have the lists of Official filenames. WWW-search until you find them -or- beg PROBLEMCHYLD into providing them (his Service Pack) - he's a member here as well as "elsewhere". If you'd have looked close, the "erpman1" link also gives DIRECT LINKS to many ffiles that (amazingly) still exist on the Microsoft website (yes, they are the OFFICIAL ones). HERE is another source! http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/security/vendor/microsoft/winME/Security_Bulletins/Note that the list is incomplete! Sir, I can do nothing more than provide you with what is available. You're just out of luck if you don't look at what has been provided. This I will -not- vouch for! http://windizupdate.com/Period! And I -do not know- if the site even -has- everything on it! Therefore, sir, you may be "aggrieved" as you wish. We at MSFN try to help. If you don't like the help (free and spending our own precious time for YOU) then go elsewhere. Again, we are NOT ALLOWED to post what may be considered "warez" or risk being banned or the site shut down. This is a US-based website, so maybe things are different in the UK. Read this and be aware that I'm a Patron (look that up). http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules HTH... P.S. try googling this "windows millenium" kb site:microsoft.comI shall not repeat what I've already said.
